his jump ins get stuffed easily

I feel like Akuma is very poorly balanced.

He's decent, but as you can see he can't really play how you would expect the character to be played, and I think it has to do with the way the balanced damage in this game.

Akuma has always been this glass cannon character that can get insane amount of damage if he gets in, and a solid amount of options in order to cover his health issues.

In SFV, however, he has some issues that lead him to be played more footsie oriented rather than mix-up oriented.

His damage buffs are evident but not character-worthy because everyone in SFV can lead to high damage, even characters like Juri or Kolin who are supposed to have low damage output. His V-Trigger, while being very strong in some aspects, isn't strong enough to overcome to his lack of health, and lead to players to go for a more footsie oriented playstyle with the character.

This is why you never see an Akuma player go for post lk.Tatsu resets or any Demon Flip follow-up that isn't the Demon Palm. They don't want to risk because it isn't worth it.

Sony is the one in charge of that. They cannot create crossplay with Xbone unless Sony agrees to it. Rocket League was an exception. It would be in Microsoft's interest to have crossplay as T7 will obviously be much more popular on PS4 and it would mean that consumers won't buy a PS4 just so they can play with their friends. Sony would never offer crossplay for a game that is mostly populated on their systems, it's not in their interest at all and they can only lose from it. Most Rocket League owners on PS4 picked the game up when it was made free for PSN+ owners very early in it's release anyway, so Rocket League did not generate as much revenue for them as you might think.

I decided to try out Karin and Necalli for a few days after struggling with Alex for so long, and now I don't have any desire to play the game.

I spent hours and hours trying to overcome bad MUs/bad design with Alex, meanwhile Karin/Necalli and other top tier players are coasting through this game without a care in the world. It is fucking disgusting just how easy and braindead the top tiers in SFV are.

In a game like SFV, there's no reason not to pick the highest tier character that you enjoy playing as. The characters are comically unbalanced at lower levels/for most people. Then when you get to higher levels you'll be forced to learn the game better than coasting on your character's abilities. Therefore, picking high tier is the fastest potential way to getting better at the game.

lol xrdr2 might have the best beginner mode ive seen in a fighting game
you can map an extra button that gives you smash-tier special inputs, but it isn't required.

character movelists and buttons are the same, but repeatably pressing a button does a combo if the first move lands.
the combos change based on the situation. land an anti-air normal on an air opponent? now it does a jump cancel into an air combo.
landed a standing dust? mashing any of the 4 face buttons does a different dust combo involving the button.
combos also change based on range on the move hit at. if you have meter it sticks in a super at the right time during a combo too.

usually beginner modes in fighters have different control layouts and shouldn't be used ever

I think I found the perfect analogy for SFV.

Street Fighter V is the Movimento 5 Stelle of the Street Fighter series.

I know it sounds crazy for the few italian anons that browse this general, and even crazier for those who don't know what the hell is M5S, so here's what it is.

The Movimento 5 Stelle (or Five Star Movement) is a political party in Italy. It's a party that has some similarities with the liberal party in the US, but their ideology is more towards the political right rather than the left.

In any case, this group of weird politicians like to say (in order to fill the stomachs of people who don't really get reality in general) that politicians must be "honest" in what they do. They offer no kind of political plan or general direction for their party, no solid ideas, they just use those kind of effective words to fill the people's minds with false sense of rebellion.

"Honesty" is the key word for both the subjects of the analogy. If you remember many of the interviews made for the game, you hear this word thrown around pretty often. Woshige himself used it in an interview during the PSX 2016. That's because he knows that after SFIV people wanted something that leads itself to not broke down to mechanical elements and keep it in this simplicity and "honesty".

The problem comes in what people really consider "honest" and "dishonest", and reality is that those concepts aren't by nature part of a fighting game that wants to have a roster full of different characters with different playstyles.

SFV is, just like M5S, a cheap attractor of ideals of people who don't play nor understand fighting games (or, in M5S case, understand politics). They want to believe you that they're "honest" except when that concept in that sub-world doesn't exist by definition.

Fighting games can definitely be "honest", but that alone doesn't make them good.
