Considering Danganronpa came out in 2010 and Danganronpa 2 came out in 2012, UDG came out in 2014 and DR3 was 2016, I think we can safely say that a new entry is out every 2 years. My assumption is that Tsumugi's ability is limited to that she can't cosplay anyone she perceives as real people, so it's important to note she uses Kaede's name and wears her SHSL outfit when she breaks out in rashes while audition Kaede's name is censored and happens to be wearing the normie outfit.

If so, that could mean normie!Kaede is the actual fiction and therefore they were genuine SHSLs.

Looks like I missed the Maki discussion las thread, what bothers me the most about her are her limited relationships, the same thing that keeps me from really liking Komaeda, and that out of all her sprites, only like 1 or maybe 2 show her smiling. I really wish we got to see her laughing like Kuzu eventually, but it makes sense since everything there aren't really many happy moments for her in the game.

Yep, I do like Maki and I (used to) like Komaeda too, but my main problem with them in their respective games were how limited their relationships were. Especially how this is the type of series that needs enough dynamic between the characters to work, making it interesting to see characters play off each other in this setting. I also noticed that while looking through her sprite folder the other day. Most of her sprites are either her mad or emotionless which is kinda sad since her smile is really cute despite only seeing it two or three times in the whole game. Even when she's angry and with Maya's amazing voice talent, she doesn't come off as emotional making her feel a lot less plastic and able to feel for. That's probably why I liked her in Chapter 6 best, since she acts a lot more sincere. I understand it was the idea and all, but it would have been nice to give her some more scenes where she's happy or genuine.

V3 is my favorite DR just for the fact that it completely BTFO tumblr with Kaede and Chapter 3.

Come to think of it, aren't the scenes with Makoto conflicting? On one hand we're shown that he's just an ordinary boy who's under so much pressure he just wants to escape reality and Dangan Ronpa is that escape, but Saihara's memory shows Makoto talking to him mentioning that he saw his face in the flyers distributed by SHSL Hunt.

Saihara also seems to be wearing his SHSL outfit there, so it's not entirely impossible the Gopher Plan isn't what was shown in the game and it meant something else.

What do you think? I feel there's probably something we're missing here.

Yeah, I admit it's not as bad as Komaeda who had four relationships at best, and only really interacted with one of the four relationships, but I at least expected Maki to play off of the characters more. Hoshi would have been an incredibly valuable survivor, he's streetsmart and physically capable. As it is Saihara and Yumeno are going to have to more or less depend on Maki to get them through day-to-day until they reach some kind of friendly civilisation.

I'm just hoping she won't get shafted in future installments. The worst that could happen is that she spends all the time feeling sad because of Kaito and being even more depressed. Obviously I would be okay with her mourning him as long as she accepts his death, I just wish she would try to honor his sacrifice and try to become better friends with the survivors. All I'm asking for is a scene were the three survivors are just able to relax and open up to each other, maybe even make each other laugh. She seemingly overcame Kaito's death in chapter 6, but you never know. Her wearing Kaito's jacket would also be nice.

Can't even believe I'm typing this much about a character I mostly still dislike, but it's made clear that Maki doesn't want to be an assassin and her becoming nicer and softer is really an aspect of her true character just as how Tenko saw Himiko for someone who wasn't just lazy and Kaede urged Saihara to pursue the truth.

She's colossally missing the point here, Maki says people who know her true talent have made a target of her in chapter 3 and unlike Mukuro who most likely did have passion in being a soldier she's never shown to like her talent and felt as if her life was simply built on obligations, first to her orphanage and then to her 'career'.

...so, let's think about that again. Amami was shafted so hard he got less screentime than Mukuro and Twogami, it's implied that TDR got their hands on DICE and they might not even be alive any more along with their leader being tossed into a killing game and Hoshi died a cruel death in the same chapter where he considers wanting to live.

What are the chances then that Hoshi's activities also pissed off TDR in some way? I don't know if Tulpaman was legit a serial killer yet, but as Hoshi did turn himself in this might explain why Hoshi specifically has such a 'talent' to make a mockery of him.

That's exactly it though, Tulpaman is only dangerous to the other killing game contestants so naturally TDR don't give a fuck because Korekiyo is not going to target them.
Hoshi isn't really a threat to the other contestants but he's proven himself capable of singlemindledly pursuing something he deems corrupt and evil (say, an organisation that makes highschoolers fight to the death maybe) so TDR decide they've gotta put him down.
