You make blank names by pressing spacebar in that name field. "Space" counts as a character.

If a non-modcard version is on their mega, you use that one instead of the modcard. If they don't provide non-modcards, go into your AAU config and set these options towards the bottom:
bSaveFileAutoRemove = true
bSaveFileBackup = true
Then preview your modcards and it should clean them. If it does not, since you already have the resources, then temp-void your override folder (rename it) and preview the cards you want to demod in the Maker. Then delete the new override folder this creates and un-rename your original.

Okay, I have the windows 10 fix. My cards are clean. I even created a new class to put "fresh" cards in. I'm still getting lag. Why? Again, everything was working before. It's like something broke one time I loaded up the game. I'd attach images but I have no idea what to post. I am so goddamn salty right now. Does anyone have any ideas at all? Should I try rolling back to windows 7 or something?

Before I do the rollback, is there any way to make sure I'm not causing problems with mod cards? I made sure I applied all the mods, and I went through all my cards and made sure they were all a normal size. (~100KB) Though during this process I did find one card that was over 1MB and deleted it, but that didn't fix my lag issue. So I made sure all my cards are the size they should be, displayed them all to make sure I got any mods needed from them, then deleted my backup folder. (but kept the cards in another area) Is there anything else to check before I do this the hard way?

If your "lag" is low frame rate and you're using Windows 10, it's not cards. It's the d3d9.dll replacement not working for reasons only you can figure out or the game using a weak graphics chip like the integrated GPU.

If your lag is long loading times, it's mod cards. You can always try a clean install of the game too if you think there is some problem with it.

I'm having an issue with the subtitle overlay - during sex scenes, subtitles are not appearing at all. In debug mode, the file names that are appearing as sounds during sex are not associated with any subtitles, and in the subtitles txt file, all of the sex scene sounds start with a18_h (I've been seeing things like a12_h or a06_h in-game). I have no idea what to do. I've never had this issue in the past, but I recently installed the game using the pre-installed torrent from above to my G: drive, and now it isn't working. The other subtitle mods linked in the pastebin work fine, but they don't have any text for sex scenes.

I've narrowed it down to only happening when the Apricot personality is involved in a murder that also doesn't involve the PC. But only sometimes maybe because the same apricot had been involved in about 4 other murders with no game crashes.

I have over a hundred gigs of mod backups so if I ever lose anything I don't have to redownload anything. I don't expect other people to do that but if you value redundancy, keeping backups is never a bad idea. A modcard in any folder that is not the active "Female" folder will not cause the game any issues.

Got the whole game + the (large) essentials to just over 6.2gb

Note that in a normal install this would be ~50gb (~35gb if AA2Install deduplicated some files)

Yes, I've tested it by semi-removing the .pp files and letting the game load the .ppx files instead via AAU

What I mean by semi-remove is that the game still expects the first ~1MB of the original .pp file to exist so I leave that there

As of right this instant the game loads the load screen correctly but it shits itself when you load a game because something's wrong with the personality handler

I've run into this issue before and fixed it so hopefully it's the same thing here and an easy fix

I've also experienced that because the core game files are so small Windows is preloading the files into memory so the game acts as fast as if it were on an SSD, but obviously it wouldn't work if you don't have any (spare) RAM available

I've checked the logs and the legitmate files that it's trying to check are related to the base 24 personalities
Since the base personality files are special that they don't have any metadata like modded and append personalities the game attempts to load them anyway since shitty jap coding

Some files it wants are literally called "0" and "END_3D" which looks like some programmer had a bad time with Direct3D when trying to code the file loads in the first place

Also some files like "MP40_LO.lst" which I have never encountered when I was working on AA2Snowflake

And some straight up wrong file requests with "AA00_40_01_01.bmp" instead of "A00_40_01_01.bmp" which is what exists

There are some other files I need to look into like "js_map_00_00_00.lst" to see if they're important at all but so far seems like Illusion didn't do enough testing
