Did you guys ever bother making board-tan characters and shared them?
>>175738531
i try too i definitely did it more in xcom 2 simply because i could save cosmetic sets
>>175738669
we did its in the character pool in the op though we didnt get too many

Just to be clear, I'm talking about shit like /co/, /a/ or /an/ board tans not /xcg/ self inserts which is what I saw in the doc.

maybe? its got the advent girls and what not in the pack but other than that maybe its not what you are looking for
>>175738931
Yeah, I think this is something I have to do myself. I'll share it with you guys after I'm done with this Community character pool I'm making. I was thinking of having /tv/ characters because of how large a pool that'd create but the face options is disappointing.

For those of you who haven't backed Phoenix Point and can't comment on the Fig, are there any questions you'd like to ask Julian and the team? I'm thinking of gathering some questions from a variety of places and posting them as an organized batch to the Fig comments page so Snapshot Games can answer them, and I figured you guys would have some. I'm currently wondering:
1: How will ballistics work? Julian said the game would have actual modeling for stray shots rather than XCOM's hit/miss and that's it, but the tactical gameplay looks more similar to XCOM remakes rather than the originals, so I'm wondering how he would make it work.
2: Will there be neutral human forces, like Xenonauts had?
3: How will research work? Will there be a UFOpedia like classic X-COM?
4: How will stealth work? Aside from silenced weapons like the crossbow, are there any other mechanics?
So those are mine, any more you guys want to know? I know one anon mentioned wanting to see actual gameplay rather than footage, is there anything else anyone would really like the campaign to show off?
>>175746771
how will the insanity work, will it have long lasting effect or just a few round effect during combat like confusion

Yes, I was talking about X2.

DOOM weapons fucking when?
>>175748883
The fuck is that, an ME3 gun?
>>175748915
Looks like it is probably the LW2 Holotargeter.
Do you think the new expansion will add vehicles? If so would they be used in combat or just for reinforcement transporting during cutscenes?
How do I tell if it's a 40 ayy or a 20 ayy large landed? Like is there a difference in the maps for transports and harvesters?
>>175738531
Yup, I like my power rangers
>>175750025
Literally all we know about the expansion is that includes some tilesets with water (specifically canals) because some assets from it made their way into Shen's Last Gift before being patched out.
Other than that, we know nothing.
>aching for a new campaign
>no expansion in sight
>no 1.3 in sight
>>175752469
>water (specifically canals)
>in a game under alien government
Water Hazard v2?
>>175752768
I'd be OK with this. It might be the sign of some kind of coastal tileset if those are sea locks for docks instead.
Steamdb has a huge amount of depots being active, number one being a firaxis_qa build but also several others (such as baseline) that would hint at an expansion definitely being in the works.
(As well as two unannounced DLC depots associated with XCOM 2). I guess we might get an announcement at E3?
>>175752897
>I guess we might get an announcement at E3?
Only thing I'd want more is Serious Sam 4.
>>175753338
The other option although I am hesitant to even mention it because anons have a tendency to latch onto any hope, however small, is that they announce it around May 25th, which is when the "Advent Future" website went live, teasing XCOM 2. June 1st is the anniversary of XCOM 2's proper reveal, with E3 having the gameplay demo.
Basically, in terms of XCOM 2 publicity, we're coming up on the times they've used before and we have severe Firaxis Activity in steam QA builds associated with XCOM 2 so...
Keep your eyes to windward lads, all hope may not be lost.
Is there any X-Files episode where someone just beat a MotW to death with a flashlight?
Because that's what I'm trying to do right now
I'm trying to to Gangplank in LW and boy, is it fucking hard. It's my first Long War playthrough and I don't think I have the means to even attempt this mission. I have few laser guns and no advanced armors yet, and honest to christ these ship aliens are just wiping the floor with the lives of my soldiers.
Do you think that at this point I should simply drop it and try it on a later playthrough when I know my way around LW a bit more, or is the reward this mission gives too high to let it pass?
>>175744372
When are you gonna finish the base assault? These are funny and all but it's been like a week.
>>175755008
I don't like the DLC missions and I'd advise against enabling them in general. They're very hard if you're going in blind, and if you learn the tactics for countering them [by failing a lot or watching videos], the rewards are too big. The campaign shouldn't be decided by 4 preset missions that you memorized.
Plus on a first playthrough when learning the mod you probably don't want the added headache and added savescum incentive of learning special missions too.
>>175738610
>/vr/
losers still use that board?
>>175755814
Thanks, I guess I'll just ignore it. It honestly seems way out of my reach.
>>175755008
I did gangplank in LW with ballistics, had to spend about 20 turns suppressing each disc while my sniper whittled away at it. Those 1% shots through suppression got scarier and scarier as the mission went on.
I like Zhang and Annette too much not to enable the DLCs. The Furies mission is some bullshit depending on what alien tech level it spawns at though. Can make gangplank look like gatecrasher.
>>175756523

>>175756523
I never did The Furies, not even on Normal playthrough. I dread to think what it even implies. I'll try it on this run and see how it goes. If it looks like an impossible feat I'll just avoid it like I just did with Gangplank.
>>175756781
Furies comes after deluge, you have to rescue three psionic civilians in 12 turns or less by pushing through an abductor filled with ayys.
I used a concealment scout to disable the kill timer thing and took my time moving up. There is a boss thin man and boss heavy floater lurking so it pays to take caution.
>>175754190
I am almost sure that Scully did that once.
>>175754190
Against a zombie? How'd that work out? I have one of those coming up next in my campaign (I saved at the beginning of the battlescape with two in sight range). Toughest mission I've run into so far was a massive gang fight that I took a van full of kelvar equipped agents to. Starting to have more monster sightings and cult apprehensions than I can keep up with even after building a third hangar right off the bat and using 2 vans and a car.
rest in pizza you beautiful bastard. His death taught me a lesson though: either I just witnessed the death of the unluckiest piece of shit scout in the whole universe, or aliens on Overwatch with Opportunist cancel out Lightnin Reflexes' evasiveness.
>>175759882
They don't cancel it, but the move from 3% to 8% is a significant increase, and gets into the double digits for shots after the first. And more importantly opportunist lets them crit you, so you need impact vest.
>>175759882
you got unlucky. Opportunist makes it roughly 50% (multiplicatively, not additively) more likely to hit through lightning reflexes.
It works by taking the first overwatch shot and multiplying the percentage by .1, subsequent shots are multiplied by .3 IIRC.
>>175760141
>>175760274
Well shit. You'll be missed Hex. You were pretty good.
>>175760141
Impact vest confers shock absorbent armor and is only available to assaults. What this anon means is chameleon vest, which is unlocked by seeker autopsy and new combat systems.
>Improves the Lightning Reflexes perk:
>Reduces hit chance of the first reaction shot by 95% instead of 90%
>Reduces hit chance of further reaction shots by 85% instead of 70%
>Grants immunity to critical hits from overwatch fire
>>175756958
The timer doesn't start immediately, you can move up to the the non-exploded car without triggering it. By waiting there with with ITZ snipers and chucking battle scanners whenever you get a sound alert you can really clear out some trash mobs
>>175761032
Ah yes I forgot that. With careful play you can make it easier to complete the mission.

Save ammo for primary when the enemy doesn't need much to kill, make your Overwatch on shotgunners less ass, lowering enemies for capture, etc.
In 2 I don't think I need to say, you shit on multiple pods at a time with a single gunslinger
>>175796762
how about lw2?
>>175796916
Make your Sharpshooters Snipers and Gunslingers at the same time.
>>175797283
yeah, that would make sense, but they are usually sooo far away that they won't get to use it
I was thinking to maybe put it on rangers, make the first shot with main weapon and finish off with pistol if the hp is low enough. Idk. Or maybe just luck out and get that free shot.
>>175796762
>Overwatch on shotgunners
Except in close quarters shotguns around a corner or doorway where the ayys are exposed close is best as a shotgun OW.
>>175798125
>but they are usually sooo far away that they won't get to use it
Oh I usually run Snapshot Sharpshooters with pistol perks.
>>175798158
I'm saying if your shotgunner isn't going to be close for the Overwatch shot, like for pods activating into your Overwatch then the pistol while having less damage is a lot more likely to actually hit.
PLayin some Long War and listening to PJ Alive and all the ayys are dying.
>>175798449
You say that but what king of shotgunner has ranger? Do you still give shotguns on CPL+ scouts?
>>175798797
I'm mainly speaking from an early game standpoint on the Overwatch side of things. Later you should just stick to your primary.
I wish there was stuff like fitness in XCOM, where the more your guys wear heavy armor the higher their chance is of increasing mobility at each rank. Stuff like using certain items and other equipment has different effects.
>>175799010
Theoretically it's a point if you're on a highway with no chance for the aliens to scamper towards you during activation, but pistols without ranger have such a low hit chance beyond shotgun range that I'd rather bet on the 10% chance of an alien scampering toward the squad and into shotgun range

Psionic soldiers can also gain 1-6 extra will per psi level (1 + rand(6)).
Whaaaat. I don't remember this in Long War. Is it possible to rush psi?
>>175801742
You can start it early, but rushing it can be difficult because many psi skills are gated behind interrogations.

>>175796916

One downside of the Long Wars is the mission density obsession. The game gets repetitive too quickly.

Good to know. I ended up not getting back to my original campaign today because I wanted to show my the game off to my girlfriend since we both like X-Files.
An unidentified object showed up while I had 2 agents in the air, so I rerouted them to the landing site. They arrived at dusk in a mountainous tundra, with the disk shaped UFO visible from their car. Creeping up and grabbing cover around corners, the two managed to fill 4 grays full of buckshot from their pump shotguns. A recovery team had to be sent to haul the goods back.I have no idea if this was supposed to be possible this early on, but I'm hoping this could provide a nice boost.

For some reason, the 2 man teams with the car seem to travel faster than the van with 4 people. I started off by building another hangar in one campaign, and I'm trying to figure out the best combination of cars, vans, and maybe even picking up one of the Mudranger APCs.
>>175825583
>>175823832
Private cars go significantly faster than public. I would say like 3-5 times faster. I use them with lower ranked troops to scoop up lots of easy operations instead of sending a full van.

>>175830404
Coming as I do from a tabletopping background I'm all for mechanical granularity, but to be honest I can't think of any stats that would add to the game in a meaningful way. Critical modifiers? Stealthiness? That's all part of the perk trees.
Perhaps they could have random traits like "Hated enemy: Viper" or "Preferred mission type: Guerilla operation".

XCOM Collection for the Switch WHEN?!?!?!?!
>/xcg/ has degraded to the point of trolling noobs
So, I'm playing OpenXcom and I'm a noob. In the second mission, thing turned weird. Some... aliens with a cape? were killing civilians while some... bipeds monsters were attacking my soldiers.
I could kill two or three mosnters (because I was lucky with the heavy cannon and auto canon). Then I tried to return to Skyranger, because fuck it, but an explosion killed 4 or my soldiers. I think it was one of the cape-aliens.
How I was supossed to know an alien would blow my aliend?
>>175858815

smoke the ramp and smoke in general.

>>175860109
Nice, but
>How I was supossed to know an alien would blow my soldiers?
I didn't see any visual hint.
I guess I should abort that mission in the second turn when I saw all that madness
>>175861138
Aliens have standardized equipment. What you ran into is floaters. They can fly, but have pretty weak stats otherwise. Aliens can carry plasma pistols, plasma rifles, and heavy plasma. As the game progresses, aliens will use heavy plasma more and more. All aliens carry alien grenades as a rule. If they see a cluster of troops, the will use their grenades. Alien medics can have stun launchers, which yes, stun in an AEO explosion. Later and larger ships can have the alien blaster launcher being used by I believe engineers, leaders, and commanders.
>I guess I should abort that mission in the second turn when I saw all that madness
Floater terror missions are the easiest terror mission there is. You are just new too the game, so everything is going to be pretty tough for awhile till you adjust.
>>175861138
ayys have grenades and throw grenades when they're in range and you have a lot of doods standing near each other.
scram for the buildings on terrors.

What a harsh time to have the Beagles delivered.
Got a large in July anddd I totally forgot flashbangs, it has 6 outsiders for sure and a sectopod or whatever makes that loud stomping sound. The pods are all huge like 6 ayys per pod, I don't think I'm equipped to do this one. I really need two rocketeers and at least one with mayhem. My engineer is just a scanner whore, the HEAT engineers I had is wounded. Got a HEAT gunner but not my rapid fire one...

If you listen, there are two different sound cues. One has two stomps, and then the next one only has one stomp.
https://youtu.be/U9eDIzD5gds?list=PLXctaw5JGF4Inwdinw7ijDafjKlVC2oDo&t=940
In this clip the Mechtoid pod is spotted. Notice that afterwards you hear a sound cue with a single stomp. I think this is the Sectopod, since the mechtoid pod is spotted, and if you keep watching, the pod will teleport into view, so they shouldn't be making sound cues anymore
Finally, this shows the sectopod arriving:https://youtu.be/U9eDIzD5gds?list=PLXctaw5JGF4Inwdinw7ijDafjKlVC2oDo&t=1802
Unless I have them mixed up:
1 stomp = sectopod.
2 stomp = mechtoid

>>175929238
>>175929432
Total Conversions are tricky for a variety of reasons, the first reason is that it's obviously very complicated, a lone modder can't do a total conversion, at least not realistically and definitively not in a short amount of time. You need a team of dedicated capable modders to make a total conversion.
The second problem is that a lot of total conversion mods would get shut down at some point by lawyers, when people say total conversion usually what they have in mind is turning the game into a game of a different IP, like turning Xcom 2 into WH40k: Xeno hunters, that would get slapped by a cease and desist so fast you wouldn't be able to finish saying xeno tits.
how would you make snap shot good/decent in LW2?
I would mess around with it giving you a movement only action after killing an enemy (maybe from elevation only/critical kill only?)
If anyone's interested, I saw Gollop answer a bunch of questions about Phoenix Point an anon gathered from last thread.
https://www.reddit.com/r/PhoenixPoint/comments/68zy41/questions_for_the_phoenix_point_team_xposted/dh5wo14/
Important bits: They're planning on showing gameplay footage when they finish making a boss monster, there'll be neutral forces like Xenonauts had, they're working on a ballistics and stealth system, and they do plan on supporting modding and are deciding on how to do it: Currently they think it'll be post-release dev support, but the whole game is designed with an eye on helping modders.

Is that usually a problem? Genuine question, I don't know much about modding. I thought mod support involved the devs making tools and stuff available to players so they could fiddle with and change game files more easily. Is that usually what it is, or is modding support more complicated?
>>175935140
When you make them
>>175935292
Not all mod support is the same, so who knows.
>>175935292
The game has to be built for it. If they're only doing it "post-release", it's likely that it will be too late and we'll only get the ability to tweak stats and swap textures. They could make it really moddable but it would take a lot of work and it doesn't seem like they're that interested.
SD44 promised the community mod tools because they're now published by paradox and we've been asking for them for a long time. All that promise has resulted in so far are some configuration files that expose less than the existing reverse-engineered community tools.

>>175967368
Yes. Except for base assults.
>>175967397
What's the purpose of doing this again?
>>175967514
Your first move you move the person the farthest you intend to go for the turn. This means, that you should only activate alien pods on your first move, giving you the most amount of actions to respond to the threat. Moving everyone behind that one dude means you don't reveal any new fog of war (in theory).
Base assaults, the aliens have twitchy tentacle fingers (can shoot on activation) so you can't conga line.

Make sure to spread out your xp. You need a robust roster if you are going to make it. Use assaults as covert ops. You don't need to shoot down every ufo. A purple flashing UFO with a high altitude means it is hunting for your satellite. If a UFO is smoking, that's usually enough to send them home without them completing their mission.
When you just have missiles, set interceptors to aggressive. With lasers you can use balanced. For research, start xeno-biology, weapon fragments, lasers. You need xeno-biology to get council requests that will give scientists. Council requests in general is what will give you your scientists, engineers, and experienced soldiers. So keep that in mind with how many corpses you do or don't sell off. Shotguns have DR penalties against mechanical units. Smoke and flashbangs are very good.
Outisders are one-man death machines. Suppress and flash them if they aren't going to die (they also regen health). On a UFO mission, rookies will automatically rank up even if they don't get a kill.
UFOpaedia is fantastic source of information. There is a LW section somewhere in the OP.

What's your mid game 8 squad for Terror missions in Long War? I'm a bit rusty and things are heating up in the tactical all of a sudden. Thinmen still cause the biggest issues aside from badluck and cyberdiscs.
So far I got
Scout - scanners + holo
Assault - hitnrun + targeting module
Gunner - HEAT or suppress
Engineer - HEAT and sapper AP + HE
Sniper - snapshot ITZ build
Rocketerr - high aim 2 rockets
Then I think 2 infantry with targeting modules and scopes?
Do you guys waste alloys on alloy plating? Engineers and Assaults get wounded the most, maybe build 2 or 3 alloy plating for them?
>>175987339
I stick alloy plating on troops I expect to get shot at.
Assaults, in case they get stuck in a shitty position with a low damage roll. Usually with a flash or some other mitigating item in case shit goes south.
Suppression Gunners, since the AI will almost always shoot at the suppressor, So I usually stick plates on them and High-Caps at least in the early game.
Infantry, Tend to run scopes and high caps until they get lock and load, If they're a damage infantry build I take a targeting module instead of high caps.
Scout, Motion tracker and Battle scanners. Depending on the mission I tend to give em a shotty and use as a high mobility off-flanker to support the assault. I don't like marksman snipers much.
Engineers are pack mules for HE and AP. Sapper, HEAT all that good shit to get rid of cover and fuck up clustered lids.
Snipers are a mixed bag. I find they're either gods or useless. So I usually just stack aim with scopes and laser aim modules. A med-kit maybe.
Rocketeers, as above, so I stack aim with carbine and scope with a spare HE or Shredder rocket. (I know Carbines no longer affect launchers but it'll leave you with a very high accuracy rifle guy great for finishing off low health enemies or fliers.)
I do actually like to run medics as support grenadiers and I find they make good officers. More squad support, damage mitigation and buffs than actual front line combat. So I tend to only start taking them with Squad size eight since early-mid I need more damage on the field until I hit laser and carapace.
Council missions I run Two assaults for high speed low drag action.
Terror I will always take a grenadier with sapper to help with lids. Two assaults with CCS are fucking wonderful too. Depending on the map a sniper, I could do without a gunner but prefer to take one. I have a scout in every squad for every mission because being able to remove overwatch is just too useful. As is a dedicated mule for scanners and shit. Infantry too cont.
>>175988590
cont.
I like to make my overwatch infantry into MEC'sbut my campaigns almost never get that far.and keep the damage infantry around. Grenadiers get made into MEC's as Grenades don't quite keep up with the damage curve. Scouts Assaults and Gunners I find to be valid candidates as well.I didn't mean to sperg out so much sorry I just started typing and couldn't stop. I love Xcom I'm just really bad at it

I know it sounds contradictory to what you hard about LW, but LW early is actually easier than vanilla early game. Your guys can take a hit, you start with 6, and half cover and cover in general is buffed. Sounds like you are afraid your guys are make of paper mache, but they aren't. They will get hit, and they won't keel over the first time it happens with early enemies. Try to lay off the explosives in the very beginning while you are still fighting sectoids and drones. Nothing wrong with spending a couple turns taking mass volume 30-40% shots on sectoids. I'm assuming you are playing normal, not impossible.
>>175999805
Yes I am playing on normal; I'll take your advice into consideration. How tough is impossible?
>>176000084
idk, alot tougher. And as I said, things don't get easier as the campaign goes one. In higher difficulties, you fight way more ayys per mission, and your funding is much tighter, with countries panicking quicker. And of course ayys have better stats.
>>176000084
Not him but the biggest difference between difficulties is how quickly the aliens gain strength and the number of resources you recover.

I wish they had gone more in depth with their portrayal of XCOM as a resistance organization - you know, do things traditional resistance groups do:
> make and sell drugs to fund operations
> terror missions targeting collaborators (have to destroy set amount of property/kill VIPs in civilian neighborhoods with no resistance)
> compete with and even fight rival resistance groups (a la Exalt) for recruits/resources

In LW, yes. By mid-game you should have quite a few MSGTs.
>>176016492
Scouts do plenty of damage with hit and run imo.
>>176016971
That's why I said until ITZ. For me the period I see as early midgame is one where I don't have (many) TSGTs, but the guy's definition of midgame goes all the way to MSGTs, so I prefaced by saying that my remark probably doesn't apply.

Is long war the most satisfying mod to play for Enemy Within?
The only problem ive had with it myself is how exalt is balanced with the base assault having nearly same amount of troops as the missions where you have to recover one of your soldiers. (Exept that the base assault is actually easier because you have more soldiers)
Just came across my first Etherial and those things are spooky.
>>176020590
I like how spooky Long War AI is. Had a mectoid run away then hide for a couple of turns and came dashing right back into the fight.
>>176021412
scariest thing the AI does is run heavy floaters and muton elites out into the open with no cover because their innate defense value is equal to or better than full cover
So in XCOM 2, when exactly did they lose to the aliens? Because I see no reason why they'd dump SHIV and MEC Troopers.
>>176020590
I love all the obscure difficulty tweaking LW does.
>Lost a mission?
Enjoy more meld => cash from higher alien resources, also easier raids on landed UFOs. At the same time the aliens get stronger so you don't feel rewarded for bad performance.

That said, why are there no hover-MECs?

you're doing a number on alien resource generation. interdicting ufo landings and shooting down ufos deprives the ayys of resources.

I don't see people talking about it, so I suspect it's a meme. I've never tested it though, there's no one I would want to play xcom with.

>make and sell drugs to fund operations
The resistance outpost you contact in each country probably does this, thus the supplies you get each month are probably blood money.
>terror missions targeting collaborators (have to destroy set amount of property/kill VIPs in civilian neighborhoods with no resistance)
>Making the fucking population afraid of XCOM because they killed their families
Also you have the VIP missions where you need to target the big fish type of VIPs that really have important info.
>compete with and even fight rival resistance groups (a la Exalt) for recruits/resources
Why the fuck would you fight another resistance that has the same agenda as you? If anything you would merge.
XCOM is not the resistance more so than they are the strike group that will deal with the heavy stuff, much like XCOM EW where in Terror missions you werent the only fighting alien force, but you were the one who fought in the very hot zones in the cities.

3-5 Depending on your skill and your other troops.
I personally take 4 along with a medic and some people who can shoot multiple times a turn but could probably do it with more rookies but i like to play without taking too many risks.

I like Xcom's art direction and I've been playing it for about 4 years now, waiting for Terror from the Deep xpac I often wander to the general to see if there's any new leaks or discussions of it.
I also like concept art so I often draw stuff for people on my off hours.

That's one hour you could've spent drawing another piecekeep up the good work my man
>>176060657
Also I like the great effort put into modding in the workshop, like Capnubs, Clause's and generally anything LW2 team related content, really revitalized my interest in the game, been considering giving 3D modelling a try to attempt to contribute some ideas although my knowledge of it is non existent so the best I can do is concept art.
So I'm starting to feel like another xcom campaign and I'm thinking about making another attempted at long war 1.
I have some questions if anyone has time:
1. Am I a bitch for playing with friendly skys?
2.Would you recommend not so long war or should I just stick to the regular length until I beat it?
3. How do you deal with exalt missions? I always suck at them.
>>176061973
>Am I a bitch for playing with friendly skys?
sort of
>.Would you recommend not so long war or should I just stick to the regular length until I beat it?
regular length
>How do you deal with exalt missions?
Besides the obvious assault as covert ops, I have nothing to give.
>>176061973
motion tracker assault pings both relays and then everyone evacs without fighting for the 4man missions
for the exalt slaughter party pinatas, you just bring a bunch of rookies and some guys with lots of damage, like rocketeers/engineers/infantry/CCS assaults, and then kill everything over 4 turns while the operative pings relays to prevent exalt from shooting
and yeah friendly skies is if you don't want depth in your strategy game
>>176059772
Actually if anyone has free time tomorrow to help, i've uninstalled and reinstalled xcom in an attempt to get long dong to run, and it simply won't. It's worked several times before, but for some reason maybe the directories are fucked
>>176059785
Thanks! I'm working on the alien base assault right now. For more FTL videos, I think I want to do a pacifist run and write the script like I'm confused that I have to kill the Flagship.
>>176059638
There's a reason they removed pistols from rookies in xcom 2.
>>176041583
>>176061973
I use friendly skies ever since my first cleared impossible campaign. I experienced the magnificent airgame once and that was enough for me. I would recommend experiencing the real thing at least once though, if only just to know what it's like.
I always play regular length, in fact I sometimes consider using dynamic war with a ratio below 1 to actually make it longer. All stages of the game are interesting in their own way.
There's two schools of thought for EXALT missions. Either use run and gun assaults as operatives to daisy chain relay activations, or make concealment scouts and stealth them. Concealment scouts are available relatively late as far as EXALT missions are concerned but I think they're overall better once you do get them. There's tons of really fucked up relay spawns that are both in the back of the map several turns away from evac for example and a run and gun operative just isn't able to pull those plays off. Sometimes the relays line up just right and you're out of there in three turns, but at other times you might as well kiss the operative goodbye.
Of course the flip side is that you can send a freshly promoted assault if you use assaults and the loss won't sting as much, where as if you lose a concealment scout that's a lot of EXP you just flushed down the drain. There's merit to both.

>>176054021
Now to theorize what the hell we do with this class. Is the handler a completely seperate unit? Does the player control the crysallid & the packmaster or does the packmaster give his turn to control the crysallid? Pehaps he can only blue move and make commands? If taking multiple pack masters how legit of a tactic will it be to slaughter weak troopers or forbid even civilians to garner a massive horde of zombies?
>>176057881
>tfw manga-ka died at 34
>>176070968
The idea is for you to stock more than you need for one squad.
It didn't work.
>>176092325
Playable aliens 'lids can be fun if you toss on some speed PCS on them. Giving them armor just means utter slaughter if you don't just rush entire firing lines. Plus without all the need of fluffing brainwashing Mutons or Vipers 'lids are simple minded enough to just be implanted with a psionic control chip (since they can be scavenged by the standard ADVENT trooper) that's not a problem. Xcom could have thier own breeding sites for human lids. PLUS you could always implant them with high explosives to suicide bomb enemy squads if they're not going to be able to tie up the enemy any longer.
>>176092590
A true loss for ayy (& collaborator) kind.
>>176060510
Thanks for giving to the community m8 it's well appreciated. Less serious request for a class idea. But i'd love to see either an ADVENT (with an extended stun lance) or XCOM chryssalid Calvary. A sectoid could work too (needs a cowboy hat). Considering they can just leap over small buildings...actually they could make solid Calvary.

He explains everything he is doing and why he is doing it. It's an older version of LW, but it's still very applicable on the fundamentals and manipulating AI and maneuvering.
