Anjin-san is in NA:SOI-A but I'm not sure if he is is in NA:SOI as I haven't unlocked all the hidden officers yet.

However I wouldn't recommend NA:SOI-A. NA:SOI-A adds in some nice features but it also breaks some things and takes a few steps back in some aspects. I've over 100 hours in both games and I can agree with all the reviews that say to go with the original Nobunaga's Ambition:Sphere Of Influence instead of it's standalone expansion NA:SOI-Ascension.

Jeremus has more than enough skill points to go around to make him an Engineer as well. Usually when I do parties with Artimenner instead I'll wind up making him a surgeon as well for the same reason (although going full doctor does cost more points since you need to cover 3 skills instead of just one).

Artimenner's main importance is that he's the only companion that you can use to spy on Sarranid towns (Durquba, unless you use some shit like Floris based on an older version where his spy contact town is Narra).

There are Tenets: Conservative, Progressive and Nuetral.
Ideals: Fame, Profit, Clan, Mastery, Justice and others I am forgetting
Tactic: Every officer gets one which is a special battle ability.
Traits: These can be anything to a special ability that activates automatically in battle, gives a boost to constitution in projects they are supervising, or boosting the rice harvet in the casle they are overseeing.

I don't think there is a Blind Swordsman trait but there should be.

But you get more information that just personalities and their disposition toward you, you learn about their dispositions with eachother. You can learn if there are any unsupported lords in enemy realms, find out the best candidates for poaching, the best targets to strike, or whether it's better to seek peace for the meantime. You can also manage your kingdom better knowing more about the Calradian lords and what their connections are. Spy missions also are a good way to manage larger companion parties, since if you have companions with beefs you can manage them by alternating their presence in your party (have one off on a mission while the other is active, then swap them out).

Companion espionage missions are an underrated mechanic in Mount & Blade.
