Blocking healthkit pickups with your Mini-sentry placement, or repelling them back of the frontline by placing it in a hard to pick spot.
Scouts are about flanks, stinging Medic, tracking and sweeping Spy (or other Scouts and roamers) away from pockets. They're highly mobile and retreat whenever they face danger. Area denial (aka what your combat mini does) is not their job.
At the other hand a Pyro have to split his tasks on being a Pybro and help Engineer, divebombing pockets or flanking to pressure enemy depending on who's down and have respawn timer. Because he lacks the power of backtracking due to lower mobility.
Of course a Pyro can camp healthkits as well, but that'd be sole purpose of opening space for Engineer to build up and recover. It can't be a full-time job like a Gunslinger Engineer.

Only for helping a second Engineer back to back and denying enemy team from accessing healthkits. Scouts and EP Soldiers most likely want them whenever their Dispenser is down.

Roboscout can deny healthkits for most classes, as well as avoiding scout flanks.
They also have the advantage of delaying certain angles, giving you a massive advantage, much like sticky 'spamming' and angle.
If they know it's there, it likely won't kill anyone, but it will either
1. Force them to take a different route (Slowed down)
2. Remove or Move the stickies (Slowed down)
This gives you time to reload, escape, get a better position, or finish off some other cheeky fucker first before the second wave of people come.

It is also good for supportive suppressing fire. People might be able to just run right next to and then behind your teammates and take them out, but a minisentry combined with a cluster of your teammates forces head-on combat, favoring you.

Another advantage is decoy. Both you and your sentry are dealing damage and got hp that needs to be removed. Placing it far apart from you, best-case at a 180 angle from them, gives you massive DPS potential as well as effectively having more health.

Personally, ever since the nerf, I prefer Jag.
You get to keep your ability to build Level 3 nests, and all you really sacrifice is your ability to plob and forget, as well as 25hp.
Hitting a sentry with the jag is (almost) as effective as hitting a mini with your gunslinger, there is only a second in difference.
It is however, all about taste.

Vanilla level 1 sentry has:
>150hp (More than a single pill or rocket to take down)
>65dps
Mini-sentry
>100hp (One rocket or pill and it's gone)
>48dps

Once you see you sacrifice 50hp sentry HP (that you can 'restore' for free at any time) to get 25 for yourself, it becomes a bit more complicated.

The lower price for me is negligible, Metal is plentiful when you are killing everyone.

Your minisentry can cover flanks and areas, if an enemies going that way then you can hear it from the sound of the minisentry beeping and ticks of bullets, so you can use that to your advantage. A lot of people just drop them down right in the middle of something, but you should use it more as a detection tool so you can get a jump.

Dispensers are dispensers, if an areas getting spammed out then you can slap it in an area that people can retreat to and can ultimately control where they go so they don't all start scrambling across the map for packs.

Teleporters go without saying, move them from A to B quickly so pushes can be done easier and with good map knowledge you can put them in areas where enemies can get caught off guard.

You can still do a good job of keeping a fortitude for your side while honing your own skills with weaponry, plus you aren't nearly as tied to your buildings as if you were a more defensive engie, so you can join the fun of the fight without waiting for someone to walk into your path.

Any Medic that engages in melee combat risks his arse for 25% uber. I say it's well earned but I wouldn't mind if it were to get nerfed down to 20%.

you can tell from their extremelly simplistic geometry and their flat design these were some of the earliest maps planned for TF2. 2fort is just a port of a 1996 map so there wasnt much thinking involved, and the only place with decent space for a fight is the middle area.
