The problem I've seen with Quest Warlock is that it literally runs out of steam BEFORE finishing it's quest, and once it does finish the quest, it's so clunky in relation with the rest of the deck it doesn't even matter.
Like the quest grants a small amount of board control + value, but the discard mechanics push for aggresive plays most of the time, Warlock would need something that synergizes with both playstyles in order to make it work.
Fel Hound is a good example, but because it is a big minion it gets instantly removed most of the time.

That said, if there were cards with effects like "Put a random card you discarded back into your hand/deck" or "Discard a card, heal as much as twice the mana cost of the card" to stabilize the mid game, or for example a low cost card with good stats that says "Destroy a friendly minion to deal 4 damage" to actually make the most out of the quest/warlock mechanics, it would be pretty fucking fun.

Actually, I just need to go over Team 5 hq with a pizza in hand and they'll hire me right away to start fixing Gul'dan.

New players RIGHT now are in a better spot than last expansion, rotation did do them "some" good.
They'll still lose 75% of their games, though, and their only guaranteed "good" decks are Basic Mage, Basic Warrior and Basic Priest.
Basic Hunter and Basic Druid are below that, and Pally, Warlock and Rogue are just straight up garbage.

It's a good counterqueue to midrange decks and very viable right now, although I personally prefer the longer gameplan of Control Jade Shaman. There's a lot of shit you can play right now successfully from the (8) classes- you didn't see too much Water/Aggro Rogue or Secret Mage (1 guy in top 16) or Ramp Druid in the tournament either, but those decks will take you to high legend too.

Jade Midrange/Control Shaman was literally fine last set and an example of Jades done right, it was just balked because people were tired of seeing Green Jesus every other game at that point.

They even made a point in the vS report to note that almost all the decks listed were "good decks" with relatively viable winrates compared to last meta that had maybe the 6th best deck have the same winrate as the 15th now, it's a good thing. If you can read what most people are playing at your current rank, then there is certainly room for counter decks like Shaman, despite it's weakness against Mage, Rogue, and Priest.


Obviously there are a lot of improvements that could be made, but I count 19 decks with a more than playable winrate at top level here. Maybe not Ramp Druid, but the game's in a good spot right now. They even made Dragon Priest not completely braindead to play.

Anything close to 50% overall is still considered a good deck and ladder viable. Patron Warrior had a sub 50% winrate for a while because of all the shitters. The data can be skewed by a number of factors, and if you can get a 48% overall with a deck most people can get higher than that.

I don't disagree. Someone can take a 40% deck and pilot it to legend. That doesn't mean the deck is good. It just means the deck is viable. I would consider 50% and above to be playable. Anything less would be handicapping yourself. It is not like HS has any advancing piloting skills. Most of the 49% winrate decks are braindead decks aside from Freeze mage. All you are doing by playing those decks is limiting yourself because maybe you like the class or deck mechanics.

In the mirror, the silence priest is favored 99% of the time by a huge margin unless it is vs another silence priest then it is just down to draw RNG or if the other priest somehow tech'd in card to deal with 4 attack minions. What is Dragon Priest or Miracle priest going to do against a turn 3 4/8 creature that will keep getting buffed.

Vs aggro mage you just play the board and hopefully draw your heals. Vs freeze, you just keep drawing until you can deal as much damage without popping the block and do it in one turn.

You're probably wasting all of your resources way too early. You have late game and gas for days, the best thing you can do is balance getting max value out of your removals while giving yourself the necessary time to get your shit online. If you can get a tempo board with little investment, do that to get chip damage in. Run 2 Arcanologists, an extra Block draw is way more important than Yogg or Tempest.
