You can actually get Onyx that early if you just run through Ariandel after killing Crystal Sage, there's no major obstacle on the way to Vilhelm and the guy himself can be easily cheesed.

PC player here. After my computer has been running for a while, I suffer a substantial loss in fps for both dark souls and dark souls 2. Restarting the computer fixes this, but I thought I'd ask here in case anyone has had the same problem and knew the reason or had a solution for this.

That's a game-y solution that removes interesting choices from the existing system, looks inelegant and isn't necessary.
A mechanic where decent amounts of mana can be recovered by hitting things with regular melee attacks would probably be a better fit. You could also increase the base mana pool and reduce the gains for early ATT points, or give pure melee builds better reasons to put points into ATT. Like say, if items like Church Guardian Shivs were actually good, and you replaced the extensive consumable options like Bombs with items which consumed mana.
The amount of zero investment stuff you have access to in DS3 like bombs, knives, explosive bolt Avelyns, charms, resins, moss etc. etc. has the effect of crippling the utility of lower investment INT/FTH/ATT. Because so much utility is just handed to you for free, you get little benefit from stat investment until you go the whole hog. Exceptions for Med Heal.

It should have been easy to add options like Catalysts where the L2 does the mainhand WA, or offhand movesets where the L2 does mainhand WA instead of fucking dagger block, but we didn't get that, instead we got a load of baggage which interferes with good design. Burn it all away and lets start afresh.

He doesn't obey any of the rules of the game to do with hyper armor and he can attack you almost instantly after a backstab or riposte. The wolf doesn't obey any of the laws of physics. Other than being parriable, its not THAT bad at all.

I prefer BBs arcane system to that of Souls purely because i have this autistic tendency to not like things and think they're shit because I cant wrap my head around the logic of them. Magic, practically speaking is fucking nonsensical to me in the souls series and for that reason I hate it. BBs sort of psychic portal opening and transforming yourself shit makes more sense to me logically, and for that reason I like it more even though its usually pretty gross in practice.

From my understanding, even if left very vague, you can make magic and the different caster schools logical work. The very basics seem to be that all magic are thoughts, ideas, and emotions. Old Moonlight describes the spell as a memory and as a thought, miracles are tales of the gods that can be interpreted in different ways, see wrath of the gods and force, and pyromancies seem to be for a lack of a better word emotional texts. Fire storm is described as the wrath of the caster and Cornyx comments that only one terribly afflicted or burdened by great sorrow could understand dark pyromancies. Magic as physical or semi-physical objects are able to exist due to the caster using souls to grant the thoughts power. Another thing would be that all magic seems to share a similiar basis. Lothric casts a mixture of sorceries and miracles as his own school of spells, the crystal sages are known as spiritual guides and as the preacher twins, certain catalysts can cast sorceries from faith and miracles from intelligence or multiple schools at once and more. This concept also appears in Demons Souls. Im working on a few fleshed out theories regarding the subject but Im not confident in any of them at this point. I also prefer the magic system of Bloodborne. Its way simple since only one school and one stat exist and much less spells exist. The metaphysical, or rather less direct, world of Bloodborne seems to me to be also less rigid and more fleshed out than Dark Souls at the same time.

Honestly i think chalice dungeons were a great idea because they gave you something to do in the endgame, souls could be used on materials to make more, and they're randomly generated so it feels a little different every time, they could've had a bit more time put into them, but i still got a bunch more playtime out of them.

A bit more variety in type of randomly generated areas would be cool, such as a forest, a castle and a catacomb type area, i was pretty sure we'd get something like it in DS3
