Don't feel bad, I have near BiS gear on one of my characters, but outside of vet dungeons I don't have enough DPS to bring it to a trial without being a liability. Its to the point that I am leveling an alt that uses most of the same gear that I can switch over to them, and hopefully get the numbers that I need out of it to qualify. Several times I've been told that I need 35k DPS to be brought in as a dps so that mechanics can be avoided (in a "learning" group), and on my existing character I can only maintain 25k - 27k for maybe 45 seconds before I go out of mana and have to start conserving, hurting my overall DPS.

I'm looking forward to Morrowind lowering everyones DPS a bit and forcing people to do mechanics again. Might make it easier for people like me to get into a trial in the first place.

I have seen stories like that so it's kinda putting me off of even attempting to get my VO gear.
I am to the point now where I am doing OK DPS(solo) and holding my resources so I feel like I won't bring any group down, at least that is how it seems in the public dungeons I ran solo. I don't run any DPS chart or have any numbers but I don't die and I help kill the bosses.
I don't know how bad the patch will affect me as I haven't really tried out the new stuff yet, but I have been trying out heavy attacking as I have seen.

Is BSW getting its nerf in morrowind (10% chance to proc over 20%)? Even with that change, I still think that it would be a strong contender for BiS, with maybe scathing mage coming up behind it, for magicka dps. Or rather, do this.

1. All item sets that come from dungeons/trials are replaced with a crafting station at the end of that dungeon or trial.

2. CP are uncapped. CP you can spend is 'capped' at having everything maxed out

3. The passive stat gain from CP is shifted to be from obtaining the CP, not spending it, so you can continue to grow your stats indefinitely, forever

4. EXP to hitpoint ratios of mobs are shifted such that higher exp rewards always come with an even higher hitpoint increase. This shifts the focus of grinding towards finding things you can quickly kill at optimal speeds, rather than the things with the highest exp reward. This keeps the combat nice and fast. This also encourages grouping, because those mobs that give double exp but which have 4 times the hitpoints, will die as fast to a group of 4 as they would to one person soloing them.

5. New zones are created, based on plains of oblivion. These are accessed through a portal system at a central location. They have very high mob density and a few world bosses. They are intended for groups. Access through the portals is based on your current CP. They are staggered, with a new zone opening up every so many CP. Once you have gone through the entire cycle of unlocking zones, the first one you unlocked changes to "zone_name II". They then sequentually upgrade to II in order. Once they are all II, it starts over with III. Each harder version is just the same zone with color pallet shifted mobs and higher exp reward and difficulty. They continue upgrading in this fashion forever. Unlocking the next zone becomes the eternal carrot on a stick, an obtainable short term goal to strive for. The diversity of oblivion plains keeps the scenery changing. That there are many which unlock sequentially mean you dont have to play in the latest one, if you really dislike one you can just skip it and play the previous untill the one after unlocks.

Depends, I think its good for certain tank builds and if you have other abilities that scale off Thaumaturge then it helps with the rune Bahrahas leaves.

It's kind of a pain to farm but its usually pretty cheap since its not one of the premier meta sets. I run 5 Bahrahas/5 Seducer and Sentinel on my NB tank and its pretty fun.

I hope you are right, I think tanks could branch out a lot build wise but the current meta has pigeon holed them into being warhorn bots that sit blocking with an extreme focus on group utility since DPS are expected to be 100% DPS with no added utility.

With the sustain changes might see it break up a bit and have Tanks/Healers branch out more to help with damage as well as utility and DPS bringing their own utility to the fold. Probably not because DPS hate doing not DPS things

Depends on what you want to do. There is the typical dungeons, vet versions of the dungeons and hard modes of those, trials (raids), vet versions and hard modes of those. There are also arenas that pit your group against waves of enemies and bosses for unique loot. There is veteran maelstrom arena, a solo trial that has a chance to give you potentially the best weapons in the game, depending on your build. There are also dailies for world bosses in the zone, the guilds, dark brotherhood, thieves guild, etc.

It really didn't take me that long to get an acceptable, quality gear set with gold enchants and weapons.

The real problem is that CP was poorly designed in the first place. Zenimax isn't stupid. They know they needed to sell copies of this game by making it resemble the other TES games as much as possible. That meant a Thief/Mage/Warrior constellation. That's why they are calling "Vvardenfell" Morrowind and selling it that way.

The woman who designed the CP system, Maria Aliprando, has long since left the company. This woman shitted out an incredibly crappy product and moved on. Was she fired? Did she quit? I don't know but one thing is for sure, she had no commitment to an excellent end-game progression system; just completing a product goal set out to her by her managers.

This is why you don't put women in charge of anything. A male engineer would have known how to implement a proper system. This woman knew how to present a pretty presentation. Probably had glitter on it too.

Grinding zones requires f.g passives. Its a must for them to ultimate generation.
Mages guild has one of the best burst ult in game for both stam or magic builds. And it also has max magicka % boost for mages and max health % boost for tanks. Those kind of skills are rare

Just look at the skill trees and read the passive abilities and decide if there's anything you *might* want from it. If you want to deal extra damage to daedra, then do the Fighters Guild quests. If you want to use a Mages Guild ultimate, then do the Mages Guild quests and find the books.

This really isn't that hard. Decide for yourself as the game goes on.

I discovered some neat addons which really help the questing experience, at least for me, and certainly makes it seem more Morrowind like. I'm gonna post pictures and hopefuly they get added to the addon section of the Recently Arrived Interacter Guide.

This one is Harven's Quest Journal. Combined with the addon PinKiller makes for a killer questing experience.

The meat of the CP system is kind of dull, sure, though ultimately that doesnt matter since its just more stuff that will ultimately get maxed. The potential of the CP system is endless stat increases, which is why to make it better, stat growth should be tied to CP level and not points spent, and it should be endless.

Fair grinding is key to a lasting game. Grinding that is based on luck will just frustrate people, but grinding where you put X time in, and get Y reward out, predictably, and guaranteed, will keep people playing forever as long as there are short term milestones within the overall grind people can look forward to and obtain quickly. My proposal actually marginalizes the current CP system by creating an environment where its just all maxed eventually anyway and people dont have to think about the stupid passives ever again.

Fighters guild and mages guild have a passive as their first skill that lets you progress quests faster (intimidate and persuade). Fighters guild also has some really good passives, like banish the wicked, that are a must for generating ultimate faster. Many end game builds, especially magicka builds, use the trap from the fighters guild since it provides another 10% crit for the duration.

Mages guild has some good skills, like inner light (the morph of mage light) that reveals stealthed enemies/players near you, and gives you more max magicka and spell crit just for having it slotted. The other passives and skills are also good, and the ultimate is one of the best burst ultimates in the game.

The name of this addon is TrueExploration which makes your map blank until you actually walk through the section and you discover it. You can customize the radius that gets revealed as well as how much for each individual place, for example: Cyrodiil places and dungeons can have a different radius as well as use commands like /discover if you want to play like, overworld maps discovered but delves, dungeons and cities you have to explore them.

Did another one, against my better judgement.

Got fungal grotto 2. Our tank was level 12, other DPS level 21, neither had done the dungeon. Healer was 30 something, but it was also an alt for them.

We died 8 times on the second boss. Neither the tank or other DPS would kill one of the aspects to free the person that was chained from the instakill mechanic. The healer wasn't specced for damage, so as soon as i got chained, it was a wipe. I ended up slotting harnessed magicka and replaceing force pulse with funnel health and I tanked the rest of the dungeon, with the tank trying to pull aggro off of me.

alliance crafting styles, (eg: Ebonheart Pact) Ive read that only people in those alliances can find those motifs in the imperial city. Now I know that those styles came out really close to the one tamriel update.

You can only find the motif pages and occasionally the whole chapter of the alliance that you are in. So, if your in the pact, my condolences, you'll only find pact motif pages in chests/boss loot in cyrodil and ICP. Best bet, if you don't want to roll another alt of a different faction, is to just buy the pages from the guild traders. There were a ton of them from the anniversary event boxes, so the prices are still down a bit, 7k - 12k a page.

Some crafted gear is good at end game, depending on the content. Twice Born Star, hundings, julianos, seducers, etc. all serve a purpose. Sets like clever alchemist are also popular in PvP with some builds.

Also, you'll want the passives for end game. The passives that reduce the numbers of tempering widgets needed to upgrade the quality of gear from green to blue, to purple, to gold are incredibly helpful. When you get dropped gear in dungeons, you'll be able to upgrade it. Tempers can be quite expensive, and even with the passive it still takes 8 gold tempers to upgrade an item from purple to gold, so every bit that you can save is helpful.

That's what I'm hoping. Been playing my magdk less while I level up a magblade. When they hit 50, I'll switch over my BSW in divines, grothdarr in divines, and infallible mage jewelry to see how they do.

I redid my CP on my magdk to see how they would be without the magician tree, and it wasn't pretty. Magdk already has difficult sustain as it is, and after the change I figure I'll have to completely redo my build, probably go for a heavy attack build after I law down my AoE's.

Trade guilds, basically. They have openings and the ones in main zone cities and capitals tend to be a good thing. Problem is these days not too much is selling. Motifs have dropped in price, which used to be one of the best ways to make a ton of cash. Raw materials and gold tempers are consistent but have been slowly dropping in price as well. Rakeipa/whatever the fire rune is called sells for a ton, as does Nirnroot and alchemy ingredients.
You can make a good bit of cash just by playing the game and selling whatever you pick up, not enough to buy like, a dremora polymorph, but enough to get by.

You know why the market is shit? Lack of trade slots.

30 slots is not enough. Sure, you can join more guilds but it doesn't really help a lot since what's needed is more casuals to put their sub-par junk on the market. The fact that it's only 30 slots means that basically everyone just put out the best sets and what they expect will sell. Meaning if you're looking for something everyone uses then you'll find it and for basically nothing. But if you're looking for something odd, say a powered necropotence staff, you're shit out of luck unless you're using Tamriel Trade Center.

I'm not saying you should have unlimited slots, but raising it from 30 to 40 would be healthy. The number of objects gets higher and higher every update yet they haven't raised the roof on sales slot since release.

Any additional starting tips for a beginner? I read the guide in the OP.

Planning on rolling a Dunmer Sorc for my character.

i dont know what the guide has in it so i dont know if this is covered but when playing a magicka character you should wear 2 pieces of heavy armor and 5 pieces of light. The light armor passives require 5 pieces to activate, while wearing all 7 would give additional % bonuses, wearing 2 pieces of heavy will make surviving much much easier. You should wear chest (largest armor bonus) and one of either legs, helmet, or shoulders (second largest armor bonus) as heavy.

Also start researching traits immediately. even if you dont plan on crafting at all, dont want to mess with it at all, have that research grinding away it takes months to fully research everything. You will be happy to have a little head start later.

You should level and use provisioning though, its easy to level and the food is a nice bonus. Alchemy and enchanting you can wait (save any materials you get, however, assuming you have eso+)

Other than that while leveling dont worry about builds so much, just get your class skill lines leveled. Its a good idea to at least get every base skill to 4 and ready to mutate as you are leveling up, that way you can mutate them later as needed. Just pick a couple good skills to play with and use the other slots to level up other skills.

That all depends.
Bosmer is the cutest, there is no reason not to be supercute.
Nightblade is actually a good soloing class since it has a lot of self buffs. The issue is magicka nightblade is better at this than stamblades, and bosmer is a stamina race.

Make use of this information as you see fit.

You could always make a magicka sorc though they are op at everything they do. Any of the magic races work well with it.

As i always say, play what you want to fuck.

How do I enjoy this game, is it possible to just play it like a regular elder scrolls game? Running around fighting stuff seems to be garbo exp. Also I'm on some island with Ayleid ruins, how do I get to a mainland?
