If you like psychological horror/mystery then you'll probably like Danganronpa and Zero Escape. Personally I prefer Danganronpa. Zero Escape is much more heavily reliant on actual puzzles whereas Danganronpa is pretty much logical puzzles (which again I prefer).

It's not that I mind the games, it's the fact I mostly exist in a vacuum of opinions on gaming and I have no idea what's worth picking up, especially when it comes to the Japanese market. Maybe. PSOne and PSP games run anywhere from under 100MB to around 1GB. Some Vita games are 3+GB. The main reason to go bigger than 16GB is if you think you may have interest in some of the digital-only Vita games (like Atelier: the Arland trilogy alone will consume most of a 16GB card).

As far as recommendations go, if you like Shovel Knight, the Vanillaware games (Muramasa, Odin Sphere, and Dragon's Crown) may interest you. Also Sayonara Umihara Kawase (digital-only except in Japan).

Start at the beginning for sure as far as Danganronpa goes. The first 2 are both super enjoyable even with no knowledge of the continuous story (granted you may lose interest at the end of 2 if you haven't played 1) but still start at the beginning. It goes Trigger Happy Havoc --> Goodbye Despair --> Ultra Despair Girls in terms of release date but that's always the best order to play in regardless of timeline. Ultra Despair Girls is a totally different type of game in terms of gameplay but it's still heavily reliant on story.

iirc Sony was paying for PS4 ports at some point.
I'm not sure if they stopped and they missed it or if they just declined it or what, but I believe the decision to go for Vita-only stems from how cheap it is to get your costs covered.

~5k units are all that need to be sold to break even, with ~20k being considered decent and ~50k being the goal worthy of a sequel.

Pretty much low-risk / high-reward on top of praise from the community making the endeavor worth doing.

Caligula was a very good combination of style and substance, sadly it was a niche game on a niche console. Could have been as well received as P5 if not for the budget and vita exclusivity. It must also be said that Furyu has a bad reputation in the west. It's one of the few game I hope gets a pc release when it goes to the west. It's a gem that deserved better.

Keiji Fujiwara, Risa Taneda, Ayane Sakura... Ai Kakuma was pretty hot when they started recording and Inori Minase was on her way up too (and surpassed Kakuma), so by the time recording for Uta3 came around, they were probably even more expensive.

The tactical game in Uta isn't to be dismissed either. It might be the deepest gameplay, but it's still pretty good and would have taken a good amount of dev time too.

The game follows a different canon than the anime. There's tons of dumb scenes w/ all the girls but you can skip those if you really want.
I check out some screenshots of the translation before you buy it though. It's pretty unpalatable all things considered.

The game takes place in a digital world created for people in hospice the curator of the world is a digital idol that uses her hypnotic musical powers to calm people and make an enjoyable world for them so they can spend their final days in peace and not under heavy meds or in pain. Yeah it will. 4GB memory card file size is like 3.8 GB and Vita games top out at 3.3 GB anyway with few exceptions.
The few that do that have patches like Killzone Mercenaries have a note in the store page that you need an 8GB memory card.

SSD stopped getting updates years ago so you'll have no issues fitting it on your memory card.

Honestly I should replay Arland properly now that I've platted Dusk and two Mysterious. I would get so much more out of them than what I did back in the PS3 days, going them with the mindset from Iris games and just running through them wasn't the best idea.

Though I still haven't touched Rorona even when I own both original and New. In Meruru I at least got some proper endings. That citybuilding aspect was my shit, loved that they appeared in the world map. I wish another Atelier did the same thing of adding stuff to the map you did.

Shallie+'s alchemy felt very methodical, hell all of dusk did. Feels like you can make exactly what you want when you want it. Sophie/Firis was fun at first but gets tedious when you want to make something specific.
