In the Age of Estoc, the meta was unformed, shrouded by fog. A land of great shields, dex swords, and everlasting stamina
But then there were builds, and with builds, came disparity. Strength and dex, int and faith, and of course... fun and tryhard.
Then, from the planners, they came, and found the stats for weapons to fit their builds.

Straightsword, the first of the playthroughs
The Weeaboo Edgelords, and their Blades of Chaos
FUGS, the Lord of Damage, and his faithful poise
And the furtive caster, so easily forgotten.

With the power of builds, they challenged the greatshields.
FUGS's mighty blows peeled apart their huge stamina
The weebs weaved great shitstorms on the internet
Straightswords unleashed a flurry of R1s and kicks
And the Hornet Ring betrayed its own, and the turtles were nerfed more.

Thus began the Age of Builds.
But soon, the meta will change, and only tryhards will remain.
Even now, there are only duels, and invaders see not ganks, but endless bows.
And amongst the PCs are seen, carriers of the accursed Cheat Engine.

Before going into Farron punch Yuria three times to piss her off. Run away, then go through Farron. Londor Pale Shade will invade and drop Manikin Claws. Keep playing through, get to Irithyll, Pale Shade will invade again in Irithyll and drop nothing. The requirements for getting it are extremely narrow.

You have to have gotten Yuria to appear in Firelink, and then piss her off or kill her, before beating Abyss Watchers. At that point you have to go to a specific part of Farron Keep to get him to invade, then kill him.

And then repeat for Irithyll in that one staircase alleyway with all the casting hollows and doggos after the Silver K***hts.

I have literally never edited the Fextralife wiki and if someone had edited it then maybe it would actually be complete. This was when I was trying to search for information on fextra a few months after the game was out. There are some people who intentionally vandalize wiki articles on fextra for funnies and I think that's dumb, but fextralife wiki is full of misinformation, dumb joke pages and incomplete articles and that's not a meme.

This is wiki vandalism and intentional trolling which I don't count against fextra, but shitty, misinformative and incomplete articles are a thing I'll forever continue making fun of fextra.

Although granted, back in summer 2016 there were some fextra people who were interested in fixing some of the incomplete / dummy articles on fextra and I was happy to help him out by pointing out some duplicate entries / complete stubs that still existed even though there was a better made article already existing.

Longest ranged spear, scales with faith and can also be buffed meaning that high faith builds can greatly benefit from popping DMB on it for melee, LB on it for low end casters, or DB if they're using the Blindfold Mask. The fact that it also scales reasonably well with Dex as well (410 AR with sharp at 40) means that you can combine it with the very powerful Murky Hand Scythe to have an extremely long ranged weapon AND a fast short ranged damage machine

Think about that mate, for 15 faith you get 52 damage. On a knight build, that's an extra 52 damage for 6 levels. That's a pittance, and it even has the decency to heal you a tiny bit

Remember, if you hit an enemy once, you can hit them a second time. So that's 104 extra damage right there. That's massive when you're dealing with an average of between 1200-1500 HP

I would honestly recommend a different SS, like the Longsword, Lothric Knight SS, Broadsword

The reason being is that the WA for those weapons is one of the strongest WAs in the game. You get a stupidly high poise charge attack with serious damage for a fast weapon, and a shield breaker attack. And bear in mind, crits ignore flat defence, so your dark damage will mean that much more

If you go for a SS, make sure it's one with the Stance WA. Then just grab a WA shield like the always handy Ethereal Knight Shield and you're golden mate

Pure physical will always outperform split damage to a ridiculous degree simply due to how damage absorption works

And therein lies the problem, because by going 13/13 on a knight build you're using 8 levels to do it, rather than the 6 for the pure physical buff that also gives you access to Med Heal and Tears, AND heals you a small amount at the same time

On a melee build the only time you could ever possibly get higher returns on flame arc than on blessed weapon is if you put those 8 levels in, used weapon that has less physical AR, and fought someone with low flame absorption. Otherwise, again, you're better off keeping a resin handy if you desperately need elemental damage

How notable is the casting speed buff from dex? I want to make a Strength/Faith build and shoot lightning, but I don't know how bad that will be in PvP. Should I just do a pseudo quality build and get my dex to 40-50 with a 20-30 in strength for weapon requirements?

Non-scaling weapons and infusions, especially raw, were a mistake. They only make levelling str and dex for anything but meeting weapon requirements pointless for most of the game.

Non soul arrow spam magic in general is fucking disappointing in this game, if you want to make a character that slings anything that isnt standard fireballs or soul arrows you have to just use fireballs or soul arrows or a generic straight sword 85% of the run and then when you finally get dark/lightning magic or whatever you realize that its less good than your black knight sword or whatever the fuck you're carrying around at that point because you've already reinforced it to +5/10

Unless you're going to go to SL150+, not worth it. Faith is worthless without 60 and Yorshka's, Strength builds are useless without at least 40. Add to that the Vit for carrying heavy weapons and armor (along with Havel's), Endurance for swinging your heavy weapon and Attunement for FP and slots, and you basically have the most stat-intensive build in the game (literally only three stats that you're free to avoid investing in).

And casting speed does make a big difference. Best to just strap on Sage's Ring, but again, unless you have 60 Faith and the Attunement to back it up, not worth it.

You'll be slow as fuck without a sage ring and people will capitalise on that. So that's one ring slot gone. You'd also need at least one, if not two ring slots for the miracle damage boosting rings, else you're just wasting stamina and FP for damage that won't even match your R1s, which I promise will be easier to hit

Your best bet is to run a buffing build with quick heals like Projected Heal if you really want STR/FAI. Then you're not relying too much on cast speed, and you don't need to waste ring slots on the miracle damage boosting rings since they don't effect buffs or healing miracles

DEX/FAI, that's your miracle caster melee hybrid. You also get the benefit of having access to the weapon/buff combo that does the highest possible DPS

Is if you wait 45 seconds because that's how long your meme buff lasts? Flame Arc adds more damage to at least half the weapons in the game. If you're using some Ultra then perhaps you'll hit harder, while the thing actually stays on, but it's such a small damage boost per hit for an Ultra, for such a short duration that it seems silly to even bother.

I tried out the Friede's and with 14 end you've got enough to pull off the full L2R1 combo which is enough to full-stack the pontiff and OWCS. It's also guaranteed to land if you confirm the first hit and they aren't a super-lagged cyka or someshit.

As to armor: would it be worth dropping the OWCS multiplicative stack for it? I could also go dragonbro and add in an additional multiplicative 15% AR.

it's due to how flat defense works, not absorption

if there were just absorption it wouldn't make a difference, since that just removes a fraction of the incoming damage. Let's say I've got 20% physical abs and 20% lightning abs, and my opponent has a weapon with 100 total AR composed of XX lightning damage and YY physical, it'll do the same as a 100 physical weapon regardless of how much is lightning or physical. XX*(1-.2)+YY*(1-.2)=(XX+YY)*(1-.2), which is just total AR minus 20%, same as a pure weapon. The "flat" defenses are what screw it over, since you just stack them on top of eachother for each applicable damage type. They aren't really just "flat" defenses though; you can have 100 lightning defense and it won't completely negate a 95 damage lightning pine resin.

You choose your weapon, then figure out which stats work best with it. Modify armor, Vit and rings to match and get as close to 70% as possible.

60 Faith is very important, you literally get more scaling going from 40 to 60 than you do going from 10 to 40. Without 60 Faith, you're not really doing shit.

SL120 or 125 is acceptable, they both get matched with each other in PvP and the vast majority of all builds are at 120. You go SL80 or lower if you're aiming more towards invasion-type PvP rather than dueling PvP (though IMO SL50 invasions are more fun).

Your rings and stats dont make any sense. Drop havels ring and the vitality, maybe ignore prisoners chain too. You are fine as long as you stay under 70 percent equipment load. Use Mornes ring, ring of the suns first born, sages ring+2 and whatever ring you like. Use sunlight spear instead of great lightning spear. You might consider not leveling strength and dex at all and instead pumping faith up to 60, endurance to a higher level although 20 is fine, vigor to 40 and attunement to 30 if you want an additional spellslot. Make getting 60 faith a priority though. If you want to invest into physical stats I would say either just strength up to 27 maximum or go 27 strength and 40 dex. Two handing your sword gives you an effective scaling of 40 strength with 27 actual points into the stat. I personally would just ignore strength and dex though, the B scaling paired with a weapon buff should give you enough damage. If you dont care about doing a lightning theme build also consider darkmoon blade over lightning blade since most people have less int than end, the difference is not really important in most cases though and farming for darkmoon blade is not fun at all.
Also get rid of the saints talisman, the poise it gives you is practically nonexistant, you might as well use a chime at that point for more damage. Use either the normal talisman for more poise or canvas talisman for more damage, I would go for canvas.
Also dont mind the jokers who meme about 120 being the only relevant level, you get matches just fine at 125 or even 130.
