Shield regen isn't consistent. Both your shields and capacitor regen more the closer to 30% you are and less the further away you are from it, so if you're at 99% shields it could take a long time to reach 100% from base regen.

I don't have that much experience with Rattlesnake ratting, but so far it seems the main advantage is that they can put out more DPS. But that means using missile launchers instead of just your drones, which in turns means you have to lock targets to apply full DPS.

So if you don't mind have to do that, go ahead and use a Rattlesnake. But it isn't anywhere near hands off as a VNI can be.

With that said, if you are worried about losing a VNI, you might want to reconsider using a more expensive ship.

If you are in wormholes just use nanofiber/inertial stabilizers and one rig for align time too

Less eHP means nothing, if you are getting shot you are dead anyways.
Warp stabs mean nothing, you will never have 5 fucking points on you so 4 of them are excessive anyways, and if you could just align fast enough you wont get to be targeted.
Stabs wont save you in a bubble trap, align time and agility will.
Just keep an itchy trigger finger on the exit if you are ever caught by an uncloaking ship and you shouldnt ever die
And you dont have to deal with half minute lock times because 4 stabs

If you are in a T1 frigate you never ever EVER engage anything other than T1 frigates unless you know for certain your ship hard counters them or you are good enough to out pilot them.

Dont roam the less popular areas if you want fights cause all you will find is stabbed de-plexers which would run from literally anything cause they dont have guns.

A great way to get a gud fite is to sit in a popular systems novice plex with dscan set to 1AU and waiting til a T1 frig comes to fight you. If something bigger warps in just run away and try the next door system or wait til he leaves.

The biggest factor in 1v1s is pilot skill and knowing when to fight and when to blue ball that faggot in his daredevil with high grade snakes.

You get like 1000 something speed with afterburner. Almost any PVP ship can keep up with that, and a lot of them can web you to slow you down.

There is no ideal choice for your situation. In some scenarios, you can live if you overheat AB and sling shot them, in others, you can live if you activate MWD before they scram you and burn far away.
