It's the reduction for being naked, because Dragonform doesn't even cancel that out despite the fact you're already not wearing any armor and have less just because of that.

It's also worth noting that you have next to no defences or poise so those short weapons aren't going to be doing you much good regardless of the perseverance on the mace. If you're gonna do a wonderwoman cosplay then just go all in and use Valorheart, otherwise put on some respectable armour. I recommend trying Shira's Crown, Herald Armour, Knight/Silver Knight Gauntlets and Elite Knight/Silver Knight Leggings if you still want some reasonable fashion

Dark Souls 3 also has DeS' health system, no armor upgrades, and some DeS specific classes like Temple Knight and Assassin which is kinda what Royalty was in DeS, i.e a spellsword starting class.

I guess in the more fundamental aspects Bloodborne is DeS 2.0 more than DaS3 is, but DaS3 is in many respects incredibly reminiscent of DeS intentionally.

I just wish DS3 had the same style of checkpointing levels as DeS / BB did.

He's right you know. A claymore, bastard sword, and the hollowslayer sword are actually all just different vsriants of longswords. Lucatiel wore her sheath correctly at her left hip, where all longswords should be worn.

The 'longsword' in souls and most other games is a large arming sword, and with the exception of the executioner greatsword, UGS class is the only class with true greatswords such as the Zweihander.

No sword is correctly worn on the back, you cannot draw or sheath it. Even tremendous swords are simply carried without a sheath or given that flimsy little strap with the end of a sheath to hang on so that it can be easily taken out.

It doesn't even have to be complicated. 2hl1 continuously fires your first stack if bolts, if it empties it goes on the second. L2 does the same moves but throws a couple of bolts while airborne.

Nah, I like it. It's annoying at times but I feel like it provides an appropriate challenge and forces you learn the boss patterns thoroughly.

Though, the multi-phase isn't really all that different from other Souls games where bosses change patterns/appearance once they reach certain health. The only difference is that in this case, you deplete an entire health bar before triggering the change. I feel like people only get annoyed because of the health bar getting completely reset.

I'm not averse to multiple phases as a rule, but the trend in DS3 is generally to have a pushover early phase (two, in friede's case) which has a ton of health or otherwise takes a long time to kill, prior to the 'real' fights. In general, I think all of the final phases are well designed and fun, but getting there is needlessly tedious.

I have some lore speculation that I've been fucking about with recently, for anyone who might be interested.

We know that Seath was referred to as the grandfather of sorcery. This could be due to him being the first creature to discover/master the art of sorcery, or it could be referencing Seath being the origin of sorceries (almost as if they are evoking his power, similar to a miracle evoking the power of a lord). It's notable that sorceries seem to have a consistent theme of souls, and soul manipulation, considering dragons do not possess souls. Could Seath have discovered, or even created, souls? We're also told that souls, sorceries and crystals are linked. This implicates the primordial crystal as perhaps having significance to the origin of sorcery, and thus perhaps the origin of souls.

We also know that manipulation of fire did not originally take the form of pyromancy, but rather flame sorcery. The Witch of Izalith and the Daughters of Chaos were not initially pyromancers, they were flame witches; pyromancy was born of the Witch of Izalith when she was engulfed by the flame of chaos. It's also interesting to note that sharing knowledge of pyromancy with humans, rather than being the source of pyromancy, earns Quelana the title of mother of pyromancy, not grandmother of pyromancy.

So, if sorceries are intrinsically linked to Seath somehow (possibly even derived from him) then might flame sorceries also have some connection? This idea, combined with the possible links between the origins of sorceries and souls, could provide a mechanism for the creation of the first flame, and an explanation as to why it contained souls.

There are a lot of things about this idea that I've not really thought through yet, and it raises as many questions as it answers, but I've found it to be a fun angle on lore to indulge in. I'm going to start a new playthrough of DaS1 tomorrow to see if I find any shit I hadn't considered that changes how I'm thinking about things.
