i didn't see a way to run the benchmark in directx 9 this time around, did they remove that feature here? for whatever reason i have trouble running the directx 11 client when it comes to playing the actual game (an example being that there are certain moments in Zurvan where my screen will completely lock up, but only in dx11).

If you're just collecting junk as you're leveling, vendor it. Crafting can make you a lot of money, but it takes startup capital to get into in the first place. You can acquire this startup money by other means. If you do decide to start crafting, you can keep a stock of materials, but stuff is easy to get and right now (assuming you're sub level 50) you're not saving anything you can't get in a few minutes or off the marketboard for pennies later.

You don't need to craft to get by, it's more of a convenience thing or something you do for fun. Gathering is probably the easier money making activity to do. Food and potions for pve can be paid for with the gil you passively accumulate running roulettes and stuff. Money is really only needed for glamour items or player housing, or if you want to be a serious raider and rush to get crafted gear for progression. 600k is more than enough to get you started, you can google a guide, but basically you want to level all of the crafting classes to 15 and go from there. I think you do CUL to 37 or something, and then CRP to 50, then weaver to 50, I'm not really sure what the optimal order is. To do "end-game crafting" you will need every single crafting job at 60, or most of them at 60 and the rest 50+, at a bare minimum. That will probably cost you a lot more than 600k if you want to do it quickly. It's much easier to leveling crafting when you have a gathering job at 60 to provide a basic income.

If you have some jobs you want to level from 50 to 60, or from sub-50 to 60, you can hold onto gear that's like i115-i130. Dreadwyrm or Aug Ironworks stuff in particular will last you until level 55-56 or so. Maybe a little longer. Stuff you don't want or don't need you can hand in for seals at your grand company. You can use the seals to buy glamour items, some convenience stuff, and crafting mats that you can sell on the marketboard. Go check the quartermaster NPC at your grand company and look at the mats available to the highest rank, stuff like Borax, Raziqsap/sand, etc. Generally it sells pretty well, but you can look at the marketboard and see what the best money/seal ratio is.

The problem with clemency is that it has a cast time, interrupts your combo, and lowers your damage, all for an ability to do the job of your healer.

Clemency was useless outside of PvP because it just is never needed and is a great inconvenience to the Paladin more than any other class to use.

"Not interrupting your combo" kind of counts as part of making such abilities better, does it not? That's pretty much the only grievance presented as far as Clemency is concerned. Address the lack of impact a player feels their cast has, and stop the combo interrupt.

If I'm remembering right, didn't Grit interrupt your combo at launch? Part of me feels like the Oaths might have before the Grit update, too.

If I remember right, Grit did, yes. PLD stances need OGCD treatment for starters. I'd have to go through each and every ability individually, as each needs some sort of tweak.

What I was getting at is that simply making Clemency and DV better won't fix PLD, especially as Stoneskin might be better mitigation (would need to dredge up numbers on that) thanks to the mana cost, Riot Blade possibly being in the wrong combo, etc.

I'm not sure how I feel about this, at least given the fact that unlike the go-to counterpart in this discussion, Defiance, Shield Oath and Grit actually provide mitigation on use, whereas Defiance only increases your maximum HP value. I think as long as Shield Oath and Grit don't interrupt your combo, them remaining on the GCD is all right, though I don't like where their MP costs are at right now, especially if PLD is going to actually want to use theirs more often.

Sword Oath has no business being on the GCD though, I'll give you that much.

And Stoneskin might be gone in 47 days. Clemency's gonna need to be beefier, though I think Divine Veil is in a good spot. Folks just don't like Divine Veil because it doesn't give the user their own personal Galvanize. It's a great ability. I feel like if PLD is going to be using some of their MP offensively this time around, Clemency can afford to heal a lot more.

The solution here definitely isn't making it an off-GCD
Equilibrium Clone, though unless you wanna talk about Clemency giving you TP based on how much HP you heal on a target, and maybe some bonuses when used on someone other than yourself. I'm all about that shit.
