I wait until I have 10 villagers before putting down paths, then once I have the paths laid out I start considering where to put PWPs. I build permanent PWPs in more isolated parts of my town. In populated areas I build PWPs that I'll replace regularly just to keep things fresh or for seasons and holidays. These PWPs I try not to arrange or build in a theme because villagers moving in and out will disrupt everything

I maped my whole town using excel to plan everything ahead without touching my actual town. That took me almost 3 months before I felt completely satisfied with the way my town looked. In the meantime, I keep farming PWPs and hoarding saplings and by the time I was ready to start I already had unlocked everything I needded for my town. Then I started building PWPs and letting the villagers whose houses were in the way go and replaced them with villagers adopted from this general and from my campsite. I plot reseted for every single one of them until their houses landed in the planned spots. Finally, I laid down my paths and cut down all my trees to replace them with fruit trees, pines, bushes, bamboo and flowers to fill the remaining space.

Yes, every time you create a new savefile witout having logged into any of your regular characters the game creates a new possibility for that day, that means that even if you try several times and can't find any plot it doesn't mean that the game won't generate one when you start the day with one of your characters. If you couldn't find a new plot and you want to be sure that you won't get a random move-in that day then complete the registration process and save the game (you can delete the new character later). Then, the next day, you can try again creating a new character.

Maybe an extension of the Pro Designs idea that lets stuff like Top Edge tiles just be aspects of the main path tile a la Sleeves being aspects of the main shirt design. So when you lay down a whole grid of paths, the game automatically detects their positions relative to others of the same tile and applies borders appropriately. Kind of similar to how engines like RPGMaker handle "autotiles." There's no reason why you should need a character's worth of design slots just to have one path design.

It's probably not quite true, but it feels like they've weakened and removed the gameplay over the years and just replaced it with more furniture and clothing. They could easily make the game much better without sacrificing its broad appeal, although admittedly you can see why they're hesitant to take risks on a series that sells like hotcakes

you can do the mail 5 of those trick with umbrellas, only is a little bit more a pain in the ass for them to swap it, i recomend combining it with the new file save thing until you see the old umbrella in their house.
