Maybe, it seems like they're trying to do what Splatoon did but with fighting games, boiling it down to really visibly clear mechanics and cutting out stuff that puts off newcomers like long move lists and really tight hitboxes or frame data.

CDS. Easily the best turfing main in the game, long range that lets it stay back, beakon and light shooter mobility lets it be everywhere, wail shoos snipers and, again, lets it be everywhere, and it's 100% self-sufficient and fits on any comp, while something like Dynamo itself needs to be heavily supported, and Eliter needs at least two good inkers on a team to not lose control.
Remix comes at a close second. It has to compensate slower turfing with a sprinkler and doesn't have the mobility for CDS's omniprescense, but more range and firepower lets it do the backline artillery job better.
For more offensive support, see the vanilla 3-liner trio (DS-96-H3, baisically same stuff in slightly different flavours), Cherry and Cydra.

I picked this weapon mainly because I love retro games and grew up with an NES, but I have to agree that it's a great support weapon when you know how to use it. I've been top of the leaderboard many times with it.

I would use the N Zap 85 but I prefer the sprinkler as a sub. You can not only take care of areas that you aren't wanting to actively ink, but you can also really mess with peoples heads with it.
-Have an opponent that can't stand sprinklers? Throw that baby out there from a distance over an over again to distract them. I've even used it to avoid chargers. They usually go after it first, giving me the opportunity to slip past.
-got an enemy around the corner? Throw that sucker right on the wall just before the turn and you now have what looks like a player shooting from the side. Wait on the opposite side of the entrance and shoot them in the back when they come around to attack it.

The fact that it sticks to almost any surface helps too. I love placing it in a high up spot that most people won't notice and putting the pressure on them by constantly sneak attacking them while they try to take it out.

Inkstrike would just be a whole other wall of text but I love that weapon as well. Chargers hate it though.

That's pretty much what I do.
My problem is a lot of games just feel like luck of the draw depending on team composition.

The ultimate goal is to make every game a victory where I felt I carried my team or at the very least had an impact.

Since you don't have control of team comp I wouldn't stress too much over it too much. Any team comp benefits greatly from map control and zoning the enemy. Since you prefer weapons that are good at turfing I'd would focus on keeping common flanking routes turfed and pressuring the enemy whenever possible. Splats are important no doubt but if you keep them pinned down, especially with weapons like sloshers not much they can do to stop your team from completing the objective.

What should I do if the team has full map control?
Most of the weapons I like can't compete with the range of other weapons, flanking doesn't work because they'll just swim around me and kill me.
The only option seems to be to make a coordinated push with my team but I doubt random match making will make anything like that feasible.

Breaking through an enemy hold is difficult though the last thing you wanna do is try and be the team hero and Rambo it. Usually it is a better course of attacks to hang back until you have two teammates somewhat near you and push together. Also keep an eye on them and watch what they're doing and adjust your approach to support them Focus more on regaining little by little instead of "Got to get to the zone/tower/rm now!". If someone has a chock hold on you the top objective is to break that hold before you get knockout'd. Worry about winning the fight after that.

It's not blush in the sense one blushes when embarrassed, but if you look at your body you will notice skin is more pigmented around your elbows and knuckles and knees and that's why people blush those areas, it gives limbs more dimension and makes them look less flat and since pink is a cute colour people often blush them in pink. Tumblr might overdo it with the noses but real humans do have pigmented knees and if you are white they will be pink or red especially in the cold or when you're moving around a lot.

It's interesting because when I was thinking about the question all of these guns came to mind. What makes a gun "support" can certainly be interpreted a lot of different way. Is it fighting from the back line? Having sub/specials that aid allies? Covering turf?

Could it be a matter of playstyle?

its a weapon that has a function outside of purely getting kills
for example your tentatek, wasabi, splattershot, luna, carbon etc have the simple function of killing players - most of the time youre better off going for kills rather than purely painting the ground and farming specials
chargers provide some support utility but still have average coverage and typically self interested specials. echo is kind of an exception but you're really just tagging players for yourself to kill anyway. kelp and bento are more supporty while bamboozlers are more kill-y
splatlings are sort of a hybrid depending on the kit. zink mini and heavy deco are midground with specials that can help your team complete objectives (taking a zone, pushing tower/rm). vanilla heavy and remix are more supporty but have different functions - remix is more mobile and offers better coverage
blasters depend on their kit. rapid and custom both focus on getting kills over coverage and are pretty much all in on that. custom blaster is fairly supporty but can still deal good damage at mid range. grim is for kills
brushes are pretty much always support, vanilla octo and all 3 inkbrushes are all hard support or area control. rollers are more area control or support but dont really offer good coverage apart from the dynamos

That's where you're wrong. It's the shortest-ranged non-cuddlegun, and has a pretty unfortunate range tier- Luna and Tri-Slosher outrange it, and Carbon's burst cancel and brushes' brushing has you in the danger zone more often than not, not to mention every single gun that outranges you will wreck yo shit. Accuracy is good but not perfect, you won't be bouncing around Luna-style. In most part, it's an inferior Nzap, and Nzap itself is pretty weak, the only thing it's better at is turfing- Splash has solid coverage, while Nzap's is spotty; however, it's still not a safe inker, lacking both range (Zimi, 3-liners, Range/Rapid, chargers) and area effect (Luna, brushes, Dynamo, cuddleguns to an extent), so it's more of a janitor than claimer. Bomb rush is pretty much the only reason to use it over, say, 85 or Tentatek. Much like Jr and its bombubble- but unlike it, it has much more powerful alternatives, namely Berry and Sloshmo, and maybe Luna if you can find one that's not stacking QRSJ.

TLDR: Splash is pure support, no good in combat. Neo Splash is a lot more combatable because of added mobility, but it loses the supportive side so it's not a good tradeoff.

The splash-o-matic has 40 range, the luna has 10, and the tri-slosher has 30. While the luna's recorded range doesn't account for it's blast radius, it still doesn't reach nearly as far as the splash-o-matic.

The splash-o-matic's accuracy means that guns like the n-zaps and the splattershots may not hit you enough to splat you before you get into range, and can much more reliably splat them. Plus, n-zaps dont have such powerful kits.

See above: while the vanilla is a great support, it's also a great ambush predator, so I'd say it's about half-and-half support and murder machine.

The Neo Splash is absolutely a good trade-off, if not only because it's an even more effective ambush shooter than the vanilla, with an inkzooka for distant foes, and burst bombs for both dealing with nearer foes and for instant pressure. With that kind of versatile killing power, it does well to be played as more of a front liner, but the support isn't totally absent. It's still fantastic at turf coverage, and it's got a good anti-sniper special to open up the objective to both itself and it's teammates.

You're right, with 25-wide blast Luna does have less range, but only marginally; however, Tri's listed range is before falloff- if you aim slightly up, it easily reaches beyond Splash's falloff.

Splash's accuracy is literally the same as all three 2-liners'. It's not Nozzlenose or Jet that never miss at close range. Lag makes that point even more moot.

Anytything can be an ambush predator machine, maybe except Hydra.

Neo Splash isn't a good tradeoff when you consider that Tentatek, Carbon and Neo Sloshmo all exist.

Hey /ink/, I've been getting back into Splatoon so I'm not rusty as hell for the new game. So far I've only done Turf War to try to get the feel of the game back and much to my surprise I've been curbstomping everyone in every game. It's been so shockingly easy that I really feel like I should move onto ranked but I haven't gotten back into it yet because I'm worried I'll be a detriment to my team.

I main the brushes, and I typically favor the basic inkbrush because of its ridiculous cover potential, but ranked isn't all about covering turf. Does the basic inkbrush still have any merit in any of the ranked modes, or would I be better off with one of the octobrushes? I remember having tried out the nozzlenose with a run speed build and I've found it to be nearly as mobile as in inkbrush, it can paint a line to the splat zone just about as fast. If anyone had any advice for using these weapons in any of the ranked modes I would greatly appreciate it
