- as mentioned, going outside the blue zone should instakill. you already have a buffering / grace period mechanism by the fact that the blue zone doesn't instantly get to the white zone when time is over. why do you need a third one that encourages lame behavior?

- devs should implement some mechanics that encourage actively seeking out other players and killing them. the hard part here is to think of something that integrates into the 'gritty' setting. it's trivial to think of pure (unexplained) mechanics of the top of my head: when players kill someone else they gain expertise in their current weapon, increasing its damage / accuracy / reduce kickback or whatever. or: the less you move around the more shakey you get as you wait for enemies and get insane, making shooting very inaccurate. whatever you wanna go with

You can get a refund if it's that bad. Playing duo or squad with people you know or kinda know is so much more fun than solo. Getting your first #1 feels like reaching the summit of a mountain. After your first couple of houses (assuming you landed alone) treat every new building like it could have someone camping in it. Use that slow-walk button to sneak up without them hearing you. When you're moving from one place to another go cover to cover and constantly look around you. When someone sees you before you see them and they start taking shots at you it's very hard to figure out where it's coming from exactly but to get the general direction look around while they're shooting so the sound moves around in the 3D space of your headphones so you can get a better feel for where they are. Pay attention to what side of objects bullet holes are on if they miss.

People have varying success with either tactic but my success stems from keeping just outside the white circle until the last 10-30 seconds when the blue comes in, then i make my move.
I always make sure i'm in a position where there's cover in front of me for when i run inside the circle and keep an eye out behind me every few seconds for any late stragglers like a rear-view mirror. If worst comes to worst and there's no cover, make sure you're in crawl-speed distance to get inside the circle 10-seconds till the circle, in can work due to forced foliage there is now.

Do what >>175292413 also said by abusing the lean mechanic to peak just a bit further left or right for more view behind cover.

Remember if youre having trouble seeing them, even red-dot has a zoom in mechanic (hold shift) for a short period and you keep the accuracy bonus. Don't engage people when youre running for cover unless they're in that direction and stopping you from moving into the position infront of you or when you know they'll have your flank. The rest comes with experience and learning the feel for the game and fire-fighting, but always think a step ahead for your cover.

There was the culling which was heavy on melee and had a crafting system to compensate for fewer guns but it was a pile of shit and died in like a month

I've had pretty good luck with pistols. A pistol is never going to be as good as a long gun, we had this conversation in the other thread. The only reason you ever use a pistol in a firefight is because you didn't have time to grab a long gun.

That being said I've had pretty good luck with it. They're common enough you can grab one in the first thirty seconds and win an ambush as people converge on houses.

Last round I landed in a little village with like two other people, grabbed a pistol as soon as I could and lit a guy up when he came through the front door, fell right on his face just past the door. He had a shotgun and AKM. feelsbadman
