Anyway, apparently the game is 3.26 gigabytes, each heroine has 23 unique CGs except the already slave girl who has 20. I think it's okay to rewrite errors like that depending on their relevance.
For example if the CG shows her panties held up on leg, and the writing references it as completely off and on the ground, and it's never mentioned again, then shifting "ground" to "leg" pretty much makes no different to the intent of the work, but makes the reading experience superior (since there will be less people perturbed by the inaccuracy). I think situations like these can be pointed to as a case of where deviating from the original can be objectively superior, and furthermore, that is a change original creators would approve of, as such inaccuracies are born from a lack of communication or a miscommunication between writer/artist, not any intent. Perhaps the strongest example would be typos, though. If the original has a typo, would it be a "rewrite" to not have a typo in the translation? I think not.

I have a small amount of experience translating.
I pretty much always keep the game up in a background and "keep up the pace" to see CG changes. Reason mainly being the visuals can be pretty important at times, in particular Japanese lacks plurals (in a sense) among other things so sometimes without context it can be impossible to tell whether 1 or 2 hands were used, whether 1 or 2 nipples were being rubbed, that sort of thing. There's ambiguity to the Japanese that's okay in Japanese, but when translating it has to be made explicit - I can't translate it as "hand(s)" and hope for the best. Plus mistakes that are actually semi-common.

That is a slippery slope fallacy, yeah. It's not really fair to critique fixing up literal text errors by pointing out it can lead to bigger changes you're not comfortable with. Not to mention, isn't that missing the point somewhat? I think balancing the quality of the English and the raw precision to the original Japanese is important - putting a ton of emphasis on raw precision to the point of actively lessening the quality of English, like leaving errors in unfixed, is missing the point. At the end of the day, I think people would prefer a game that reads well in English and is a smooth experience as opposed to a game that's choppy in places and error prone due to sticking to the Japanese at all costs. I don't believe that putting emphasis on 100% precision to the original text at the cost of the quality of the English release is a good mindset to have. I can understand why one would have it, since they in truth want to read the Japanese but are stuck with translations, but nonetheless I consider that mindset to an extent self-destruction and missing the point. As a closing note I'd like to emphasize that I consider it a *balancing* act between English quality and Japanese precision, I do not mean to imply for a second that Japanese precision can be abandoned and only English quality matters.

I get why I gave that impression, because I was arguing against fixing one obviously mistaken line, but I agree that a good translation should have a balance between being readable as an English text and being faithful.

However, I still can't agree with a translator going "oh, this sentence is wrong, so I should improve on it". It has nothing to do with translation. It wasn't an instance of having to rework a sentence because it would sound weird in English, or needing to adapt some expression to sound more natural.
In this case it was something inconsequential, but still I really don't think a translator should be in charge of deciding what makes sense or not in a text and changing it to what they see fit. If anything, the original work's writing quality should be preserved, for good or bad.

Just adding to that, because I realize it's confusing, my point is that if there's an inconsistence a Japanese reader would pick up, said inconsistence should be there for the English reader to pick up. It's a fault of the original text. A translation can't create inconsistences, and that includes having ambiguous disjointed English by not reworking sentences or expressions. Which is why raw accuracy to the original text isn't ideal.
But changing just because it's an issue with the text is a dangerous mindset in my opinion, if not kept in check. Of course it's not much of a problem with minor fixes, but who's the one to determine what is minor and what isn't? What if a work gets how, I don't know, electricity works wrong and uses that to explain a power or some plan the characters executed? Should a translator that knows the author is wrong about the workings of electricity change the explanation?
