from someone who plays DRG, NIN, BLM, and SMN, I would think you probably like SMN the most.. but it's at risk of heavily changing with stormblood, but I guess everything is to some extent

I enjoy BLM more than SMN personally, but its a tossup whether you enjoy it as much as I do, the way you have to upkeep enochian is pretty similar to DRG's BotD in some sense, but learning a fight in and out and how to play blm to a tee in each fight is really satisfying, SMN to me feels a lot more meh

Arcanist is gonna give you the most options. I suspect you might like blm if you try it though. People always talk about how it's not mobile like melee jobs, but I really think that the supposed mobility of melee is just an illusion. They may have gap closers and positional attacks, but having to leave melee range to do mechanics is incredibly punishing for their DPS and in some ways that's similar to black mage. I just don't find summoner as satisfying, it lacks the oomph. I love scholar though, and raid as a healer. If you decide to level black mage it is incredibly boring until you get firestarter, and imo it's still boring until you get to 60, but some people like the 50 blm rotation. Of course arcanist isn't great to level either.

You want to use your first geirskogul prior to the full thrust in your opener, from there on you are only safe to use geirskogul when starting a combo with 8 seconds remaining on BotD, however this is a tight rope to walk on as if you have any downtime, lag, or something, you'll end up dropping BotD, the general rule while you're getting use to it is keeping it not using geirskogul unless BotD has 21 seconds on the timer.

A more advanced way to go about it is holding your geirskogul until b4b is up when that time approaches. You should be able to get 2 geirskoguls off in a single b4b, one way to do this is by activating b4b, dumping your old BotD buff on a geirskogul, then renewing BotD before your fangclaw or wheelingthrust, resetting your timer to 30 seconds and allowing you to geirskogul again asap. There's another time you can do it outside this, but it's a little hard to explain without a chart..

Most of those categories literally don't show up at all if you don't have them, so you have to know exactly what you're looking for, go looking for it, and see that it isn't there (and if you've been away for a while, possibly have to double-check if you know where it's supposed to be or if you actually don't have it) before you can actually figure out that you don't have it.

It's not that you actually can't figure out whether you have them or not, for the most part, but that it's retarded that they still haven't implemented some unified UI window that shows you all of them *at a glance* and tells you which ones you do and don't have. I have tried I just don't have the skillset needed to dps effectively. I've spent hours on a target dummy trying to get my rotation down, and I do but I still spend a stupid amount of time and focus looking at buffs/debuffs/cooldowns. I either do the fight mechanics perfectly and constantly let my buffs/debuffs fall off and cooldowns go unused for seconds at a time. Or I do my rotation near perfectly and get inevitably killed by the one shot mechanic I missed because I was looking at my bars.

I've played RuneScape for the past decade off and on. I played WoW a bit between, but never could stick with it.

When I heard that this game has an in-depth crafting and gathering system, I got interested. I also like older Final Fantasies.

Gilgamesh is sometimes open very early in the morning (around 4-7 AM EST). Balmung is never open and is inaccessible unless you pay for a server transfer. Excalibur is open during some downtimes (try checking during non-peak hours and refreshing for about 30 minutes or so), there's also some players on Leviathan, a /v/ group on Ultros, and I think quite a few on Behemoth.

The problem is right now that after the multitude of buffs AST got over the course of 3.x, AST healing potency is only marginally worse than WHM, with the only real shortcomings being a shorter range on Aspected Helios compared to Medica II, slightly less potency one Asp. Benefic (which is still better due to the upfront healing), and no real answer for Cure III and Assize (which can somewhat be covered by Lightspeed).
WHM as of right now only brings slightly higher personal dps and slightly more healing potential. Ideally, I'd like to see WHM have far and away the most healing potential and personal dps equal to that of a physical ranged if they want to keep things similar to as they are now.

The fix is pretty simple; Regen II, stacks with Regen. I'd like to see AST get some more DPS-focused abilities since they have the least offensive spells of the three healers. Something similar to Ruin II would be nice for weaving card manipulation (instant-cast low potency medium cost damage spell) when your DoTs don't need refreshing. I don't think they should nerf anything on AST aside from Balance (down to 15% instead of 20%). They need to buff its non-balance cards mostly; Arrow needs to reduce TP costs like Blood Weapon, and Spear needs to retroactively affect CDs (IE, reduce the remaining CD time on already-popped CDs when it's applied). Ewer and Spire need longer durations as well.

Usually pop everything on CD (though hold blood for blood until hawk's eye is back up), exceptions are when you know you can only get one more set of 90 secs, then you just pair it with your last raging strikes. Same for 60 secs, say the fight has <2 min left, just hold them until 90 secs are up. Idk about NIN.

WHM:
You know how WHM's 50-60 skills were mostly giving it the off-GCD heals that it lacked? Assize, Asylum, Tetragrammaton for off-GCD single-target, AoE, and AoE HoT, and now WHM isn't completely bound by the GCD the way they were in ARR.

Their 60-70 skills should do that for them, but for mitigation. Give them a trait that lets them cast Stoneskin 2 in-combat (Still limited by cast time and MP cost, and also give out-of-combat SS2 to all healers), give them a placable field on a ~90s cooldown that works like Sacred Soil, but with an MP/TP refresh effect. And then give them a 6s duration, party-wide Holmgang, on a massive, Hallowed Ground length cooldown.

Reduce the cost of their offensive spells, and buff potency/duration on Aero II and potency on Stone III.

AST:
Change Balance back to a 10% damage buff - but now give a 5% damage buff to EVERY card in addition to their other effects. Basically, reduce the effect that RNG has on their contribution to party DPS (while baking in a more moderate overall DPS increase), but don't kill the 'RNG party buffer' aspect of the class.

Let them change Sects in combat, but on a 25-30s cooldown.

SCH:
Nerf Embrace down to like 50-75 potency (ie: basically negligible), but have it shoot back up to 300 potency (plus the 40% healing boost) while under the effects of Rouse. This basically turns Embrace into a Divine Seal style cooldown, so that power is still there when they need it (and going into Cleric won't nerf it), but it's not a permanent free regen that works better than the actual HoT-based healers' equivalent skills.

Eos gets Whispering Dawn, Fey Caress (status removal), and Silent Dusk (Silence). Selene gets Fey Wind, Fey Illumination, and Fey Covenant.

Deployment Tactics spreads Galvanize effects, but only up to 20% of each player's maximum HP.

However, give SCH a trait that increases Aetherflow stacks to 4 or even 5, and give them an Aetherflow-based HoT that heals for 200 potency/tick for 15s.

You should be popping things on cooldown. The only exception are situations where you're only delaying a cooldown by a few seconds. For example: Duality just came off CD, but Trick Attack is coming off CD in 7 seconds - in this case, you should hold Duality until Trick Attack is applied so that it benefits from Trick Attack's bonus. Generally you don't want to hold anything for much longer than 10 seconds, but it varies per fight. You don't want to pop Blood For Blood, then have the boss jump away 5 seconds later and waste 15 seconds of its duration, as an example. The important thing to remember is that as long as you're not delaying a CD long enough that you're missing an extra use of it, it's generally okay to hold it. However, unless you know exactly how long a fight is going to last, it's generally better to pop every CD ASAP.

There is one exception, which is Blood For Blood on Machinist - you always hold it so that it lines up with Wildfire and Hawkeye no matter what - both of which have 10s longer timers than it.

It depends on the fight. Generally there are things that are going to delay blood for blood or your 90s cooldowns. The only time where B4B is strictly held always is on Bard and MCH to line up with Hawk's Eye and Raging Strikes (and Wildfire/Barrage). There's also the fact that you might need to hold B4B until AFTER 90 second cooldowns because of raid damage, which is a likely possibility in some fights.

Blood 4 Blood is basically the only CD you should consider holding. Everything else is basically use ASAP.

Debatable. I don't think the drop rates are consistent for every primal.

For instance, I remember going up to like 50 runs on Shiva and only have the whistle drop once.

Then for Leviathan, the whistle would drop like every 6 runs or so.

Out of all of them I think Garuda has the best drop rate though. Hers would drop like every 2-3 runs for me.

Well, A) You're really, really bad at math.

The lowest-HP members of a party (casters) in current gear have between 23k and 24k, in a raid setting. 20% of that is a 4600-4800 HP shield.

Aspected Helios is 150 potency in Nocturnal Sect, which you can bump up to 165 potency due to the 10% Noct bonus, and the shield on it is 150% the amount healed by the shield - so 247.5 potency.

For a 247.5 potency heal to equal 4600 HP, you would need to heal about 18.5 HP per point of potency. In current BiS gear, heals land for between 13 and 14 HP per point of potency. Even with Synastry's 20% bonus, Aspected Helios would be lucky to land for 4200 HP, and in most instances would only be shielding for 3200-3500. Meanwhile an unbuffed Adlo would DT for 3900, minimum, and would easily manage to heal melee for the maximum of ~5k if there were any sort of healing buff applied.

And B) You realize that the only reason Aspected Helios is that strong to begin is because it literally needs to be, BECAUSE of Deployment Tactics, right? Prior to the 3.4 Noct buffs, every single bit of raid damage had to fall into two categories: 1) Damage that is 100% completely trivialized by DT, or 2) Damage that basically REQUIRES DT in order to survive. See how many AST/WHM clears you can find of A8S prior to 3.4 - it was nearly impossible to survive the barrage of J-Kicks and J-Storms, because they were balanced around DT. If you nerfed DT down to "only twice as good as any other mitigation in the game" instead of the broken fucking garbage it is right now, you could reduce AH back to 120% or whatever it was in 3.3.
