Is it just me or is Gauss Barrel a real pain in the ass? I understand it needs to be removed for renewing Hot Shot and fishing for slug proccs, but fuck me is it a lot harder to not only maneuver, but to not fuck up and get stuck in barrel mode. Unleash and AD are about as different as AOEs can get. Unleash is more MP efficient and can be used mid-combo, and gets free cast procs. AD breaks your combo, but delivers much higher damage and can be used with dark arts for a self-heal. However, I don't think hypercharge itself is enough to bump fuma's damage higher than Raiton if Raiton isn't clipping at all. Slashing debuff is about 9% damage boost and Hypercharge is 10%.

Fuma is 240 potency. Raiton is 360 potency. 240 *1.09 *1.10 *1.2 *= ~380 potency. 360 * 1.1 *1.2 = 475 potency. However this is in a magical fantasy land where Raiton never clips.

I think it's more likely that it'll put the final nail in the coffin for paladin as every tank gets homogenized mitigation. Warrior and Dark Knight will get their specific systems further developed (Stacks and Darkside MP) with abilities that, by necessity, work well with the rest of their toolkit. Yoshi-P's incompetent dev team will continue to insist on "simple" gameplay for paladin (and WHM), which really just means that it will continue to have no unique class mechanics and thus no direction for the devs to develop it. Without that, they'll make a smattering of vaguely paladin-themed skills that sound kind of neat on paper but end up being shitty or limited in-game. See: Cover.

PLD just has an ancient toolset. They could fix PLD without adding new skills if they just updated things. Bulwark needs to be a shorter cd, tempered will needs a shorter cd or something else to warrant its 3 minute cd. Cover should just toggle and drain MP, spirits within should not have a hp penalty(literally a 1.2x relic)

If they wanted to get creative, they could allow all or some of PLDs cds to become more defensive in Shield Oath, and more offensive in Sword Oath, but that's probably too complex for the game devs. PLD should be focused around using their defense to deal more damage.
