I just get fucking raped every single day. We do round after round and I'm always the one getting switched out because I can never actually hold my position after I win a match and I spend more than half my time playing the game watching other people play. I understand the competitive mindset and have been to multiple SFV tournaments. I'm saying that people like you and I are the minority. The average person that buys a fighting game never goes to any sort of competition. At best, they'll play online a bit or with their bros when they're drunk. These people are now the target audience, sadly. You can make the best competitive game ever, but if it doesn't pander to casual these days, it will scare off potential buyers and be played by nothing but the dedicated but small competitive fanbase. And even within their genres, compare them to simpler games like Overwatch and League of Legends respectively. They still have lower numbers. While we're on this subject, Candy Crush has more players than DotA, last I checked, and that's even more simple. Looking back at fighting games, compare the execution in SFV to Guilty Gear or The King of Fighters. Both of those games have much smaller playerbases and require higher execution.
