item damage is multiplied by weakness. A single void vessel would do 116,000 damage on his dark weak turn. You can just bring 6 tanks/healers and let them build LB/esper gauge without even worrying about his attacks, then kill him dead in a single turn (5 vessels and one LB to finish it off).
Bringing some White/Red/Blue fangs for 23,200 damage each doesn't hurt either

Plus orlandu isn't super tanky, he's liable to get squashed, which would suck if it happened on the wrong turn. This gives you options and security.

Besides, you'd want to do excalibur and wait for his holy turn anyway if you're gonna try that.
Running Setzer with an elemental weapon would obviously be way better, but he has the same tankiness problem.

I think Setzer, Y'shtola, Ling, Garnet, Dark Fina and Noctis friend is the way to go for me. Ling builds up LB meter for Garnet to take advantage of and comes with MP regen for both Garnet and Y'shtola. Y'shtola casts Shellga and Curaja while Garnet is backup for Y'shtola and LBs for both Diablos and Carbuncle. Setzer and Dark Fina is the damage output.
