I assume Fixed Dice multiplies your final damage by 1.2 to 6.5, and that this would include Fixed damage that Setzer uses.

Would assume the only units outside of Fixed Damage potential that could use it well would be Doublehand units. Sure they wont get their +200% bonus ATK from their weapon thanks to Doublehand, but there could be a breakpoint where the random bonus on the attack could outdo the damage with a standard weapon.

Olive has Gun specific bonuses and Garland has Greatsword specific ones. I think this makes Cloud the best unit to attempt to use Fixed Dice with, besides any other units with high amounts of Fixed Damage that's reliable.

What is this about fixed dice? It replaces your weapon for a multiplier? Does it hits more that once?

Setzer's fixed dice is a two-handed thrown weapon with only one (1) ATK point. But it has a damage variance of 120%-650%. That means that a good roll can net you six and a half times your expected damage for no additional cost.
Importantly, the new average variance is 385%, so you generally deal about 4x the damage you would without it over the course of a battle.

Even with dual excalibur, Fixed Dice beats the overall damage at any sensible level of ATK for much less investment.

There is only one problem, and that's the fact that so few units can equip it, and those that can lose out on a lot of ATK passives in the process. Once we get more equipment independent options, Fixed Dice will begin to dominate again.

With Fixed Dice, pre enhancement Gilgamesh could deal

But with BiS DW, gilg could do

Been thinking about this a lot lately ever since I checked out the doc in the OP showing upcoming banners and relics. My five favorite characters are Tifa, Cyan, Celes, Cloud and Terra so, other than half price draws, I'm saving everything for those relics. All I've gotten for chasing their relics so far is Celes OSB and a dupe Celes OSB. I've made up a list of all the upcoming relics for them I know of and their banners:
>Extreme Fest banner 1: Tifa USB, Tifa BSB, Celes SSB
>Extreme Fest banner 4: Terra USB
>Cloud USB banner: Cloud USB, Cloud BSB2
>Celes BSB2 banner 1: Celes BSB2, Celes BSB, Celes LMR, Cyan SSB
>Celes BSB2 banner 2: Terra LMR
>DoC banner 2 (the big one): Tifa USB, Tifa LMR, Tifa SSB, Cloud BSB2, Cloud LMR

Realistically, I won't be able to get much of this without spending real money, let alone all of it. Unfortunately Terra's stuff always appears on banners with nothing for the other four faves and since I'd rank her 5th among my favorites, I think the smart choice is to not chase those single relics and forget about her stuff for the near future (if I get super lucky and get what I want from EF1 and the Celes banner, I'd toss a single 11x pull on the Terra banners). So I'm probably just going to pull on EF1, Cloud USB, Celes BSB2 and DoC2, hoping for at least Celes SSB on EF1 and Cloud USB on Cloud's USB banner since those specific relics don't come back and the other relics I want on those banners reappear in the big Dirge of Cerberus banner, with the exception of Tifa's BSB which will appear on the Fire/Earth Super Fest banner if I miss it at Extreme Fest.

Can anyone give me a quick rundown on a good mage party composition in RK? I only have Vayne and Krile as mages (both with his BSB), as a healer I have Eiko with Hamelin and as a support I have Tyro with SG. Should I look for a third mage or go with a physical character for more balance? Also which are the must-go abilities as a mage?

Mages are tough since they need more stacked buffs to keep going. Plus, you still are probably going to have to use a dedicated support character since Tyro has trouble keeping wall up in time without a wrath/lifesiphon taking up a slot. It's actually the exact opposite of RK raiding, you can only bring your own units (and no dupes either). So it's even more singleplayer than usual.
Orlandu (or Dark Veritas) is essential to even approach this kind of fight. He can chain with Agrias (or Dark Veritas) in a way that no other pairing of units can. And Alim outright stated this was intentional, no other units are supposed to chain together (so don't expect it in the future).
It's basically where most of the challenging content is going to be from now on.

Grind events are always the same, there hasn't even been a one off event in almost two months, and trials become slogs that the precious chain meta doesn't help with.

Depends on a lot of things, the fight, which characters you're bringing and what soul breaks they have. Typically, the rule of thumb is if you're bring important buffs like hastaga, wall, proshellga, etc. You bring MM/DMT to get that up right away. If you're healing but not setting up wall or proshellga with a soul break, you also tend to bring MM/DMT just so you have a medica on hand for when it's needed.
If you're bringing damage you equip them damage boosting RM and charge your gauge with 5* abilities or lifesiphon. There are plenty of exceptions to this and often depends on the fight and if say, your character can sustain their burst just from their commands or for example on Mandragoras they all start with a buff, but Hope's BSB2 has an AoE Dispel on cmd1. then it's ok to MM/DMT.
