Anon, Links were never going to "slow" the meta. We all knew it was going to "change" it though. We had both Kozmo and True Dracos as powerful decks with little reliance on the extra, so we knew they would become a focus.
Links basically hampered extra spamming, but it didn't stop the usage in itself, so while decks don't rely on extra deck anymore, it's still a toolbox to be abused.
Aside True Dracos, topping decks either have little need for mant extra deck monsters at once or, in case of Zoo, can quickly summon links to continue their spamming. This is why there are many True Draco variants, why the meta is mostly not focused in the extra deck and why we can see some unexpected decks appearing among the rogues once in a while

There is an active duel links thread and the game is getting more and more users. It probably will die down once they introduce synchros because like the Pokemon Go makers they don't realize they are selling pure nostalgia.

Played Subterrors a lot today. The deck is consistent enough but it sucks because the behemots suck at generating advantage on the field. Umastryx is the only decent one and 1 targeting removal is not enough to stop your average petdeck, Stygokraken is just awkard since it can't destroy face-up s/t and has the dumb "equal" clause. I'll get shit for posting this but I'll post it anyway, cause why not.
In some bizarre way speeduels look like the next evolution of the game. We already end games in 6 turns or about there, everyone scoops instead of reaching 0lp, and half the decks are just searching and gymnastics to access our ideal combo pieces, and most of the ED is just toolboxs and prepare counters to shit.
Speeduels look like they cut all that fat out and just give people what they want, the best chance to open with the favorite hand to drop their hot strat, lob 1 or 2 ED cards to out a problem, and win the game by scoop once you wipe the opponents monster board since lp doesn't even matter anymore.
It really did speed the duels. It's just that there are too many cards with the standard format in mind that are going to break the game if they leave them as is.

The biggest problem with FTK's is that most of them are not consistent, since you need to run like 20 cards that you don't need. And a lot of FTK's barely requires extra deck, so less ED is not going to stop them. As someone else already mentioned, Exodia would be impossible to not pull out on turn 1.

Dracossack is a great card but I wish Jaculuslan were better. After you take one card out on summon it doesnt really do much after that.
Raptor and Tetherwolf are great cards too and OLion is a good tuner but thats kind of it. They really need more mpb strength so they dont have to rely on too much outside cards for help.
Some of the s/ts and even some monsters also have annoying restrictions and harsh costs.

Honesty Neos does exactly what Neos should of been doing, supporting Judai's other heroes, Yubel should be given an Elemental Hero form as well with both that and Honesty Neos gaining a very powerful buffed up version of Neos Wiseman's retrain. Being real, MPB with Wind Witch is serviceable because of potentially summoning 3 Crystal Wings, after playstesting that WW Symphonic MPB deck that was top 9 in some regional against the zoodiac AI, and sometimes on the ygopro lobby, the deck is serviceable but it definitely needs smoother support, the s/t are annoying to use besides recharge because pumping out tokens is always nice imo.

Also shitting out cloudcastle and whatever level 9 synchro to make V.F.D. is the best thing you can do in the deck
