I play it for that, i also play SMT and im pretty sure most other people with that mentality also hang out in /smtg/.

I really liked the P5 implementation of Guns and hope the next SMT takes pointer from em, they actually felt kinda balanced,and good amount of demons were weak to them because they ere a so limited (until tower because holy shit you get so many bullets after that finishing that).

Hell, one of the reaosns i wouldn't mind Goro getting "redeemed" is because he complemented my fusing style like a glove and synergized well with Haru and Makoto to have full elemental coverage while only having Agi,Bufu,Zio,Garu stuff on my shit.

I wish Akechi was put on your team way earlier. Would make the betrayal feel that much more real.

He was a real piece of shit, but I thought he was by far the most interesting villain of the game, and felt like he could have been expanded upon more.

The fact that he's exactly the same as Joker, except evil, is something that would have been really interesting to explore more in depth, but they wasted it by killing him off right after the reveal. Having him be the "main villain" instead of Shido would have been far better in my opinion.

You make it sound like one tiny change but you're talking about fundamentally changing the entire structure of every part of the story Goro is involved with. The player knows just about everything Joker knows because they're playing as him. Creating a scenario where all of the main characters know something but the player doesn't means hiding a lot of information from the player. Yeah, but that story is sparsely distributed between hours of shitty combat and repetitive dungeon crawling in this clunky, randomly-generated gauntlet. I know P4 sort of maintains the latter problem, but at least it varied up the theme of the dungeons rather than just lazily reusing the same room assets, albeit with slightly different paint jobs.

What's worse, though, is that Atlus made other games that didn't have these problems earlier in the PS2's life cycle and a lot of other good JRPGs that came out around the same time didn't have them either. This game came out after the two PS2 FFs, after SMT3, after DQ8, after Tales of Symphonia, and a whole bunch of others. I know some contrarian's gonna call all those games shit, but w/e.
