So about these Goro events that happen around town. I had heard about the one at the bread shop in the station, and I was able to get that one (I'm on NG+ and in the timeframe for Kaneshiro's dungeon).

I felt that way about 4 more than 3, even with 5 to an extent. Most of those you're dealing with individual palaces/dungeons while kind of getting close to the main problem then you hit the last one and its PLOT PLOT PLOT.

3 had the benefit of weaving the SEES members stories rather than sequestering them away in SLinks though, so that helped fill up the dead space a bit. Mostly I liked that you knew well in advance what your final challenge would be, rather than having the final boss revealed in the very closing hours. 5 was for sure better about it than 4 though.

So subjectively speaking, how would you rate the palaces/palace arcs only based on STORY alone?

For me...

Kamoshida > Futaba > Shido > Sae > Madarame > Okumura > Kaneshiro

I thought Kamoshida was the strongest as I felt like the game really began with a huge bang, and the absolute build-up of this sick fuck just made you want to take him out more and more. The atmosphere here also felt the darkest in the entire game IMO, and Ryuji and Ann (moreso Ryuji) are incredibly strong characters that are perfect as your first teammates.

As for Kaneshiro being last, his story felt too weak to me. It didn't really have a personal connection like some of the others, it just felt like you were going after some random guy with no real relevance to any of the other characters.

I fail to comprehend why anyone would play the dub of this game. Not only it fits the narrative and thematic better to have people speaking in Japanese but the quality is also a lot better. 4 benefited from giving you plenty of time dedicated to the IT hanging out together, but while I think its exaggerated on here how bad it is it definitely devolved into stereotypical cliche anime shit way too often, mostly of the "Girls punish the boys for something they didn't do" or "Look they can't cook ha ha" variety.

5 stooped to that level a lot less (barring Ryuji and the boat) but didn't really get as much bonding either. Ann/Joker/Ryuji/Morgana get a bit in the early game, but the more people join the less we see, so poor Haru hardly get anything. Its probably better done overall than 4 but not perfect.

3 is a bit harder to judge because no one ever said SEES should be best of friends, they're thrown together by obligation and circumstance more than anything. It breaks down into little groups and pairings more than being a unified whole. I don't think this is bad actually, and wouldn't mind a dynamic like this in a future game, but it certainly not as friendly and welcoming as the others.

I played first playthrough with Dub, then the second with original voices. Sae, Ryuji and Akechi were better in ENG, Sojiro on par. Rest are decent, but JPN voices just fit some characters better (Like Futaba and Haru, for example).

Either one is good, really, it's up to your preference. JPN is a bit better for atmosphere, but ENG is nice if you want to get comfy and watch cutscenes with text on auto without having to read.

Also Morgana's ENG voice doesn't sound manly or boyish at all. Coupled with the name, it was hard for me to even think of him as male. Then again, he's neither male nor female - he's cat.

This isn't your opinion, it's just objectively untrue. This game's Japanese voices have industry veterans like Aoi Yuuki, Nakata Jouji and Jun Fukuyama giving their best performances, while the english one has some no name middle aged fucks trying to sound like Japanese teenagers. Japan has voice acting academies, it's a huge industry there are years ahead of anything in the West. There is some good english voice acting, sure like the ones in the Souls series for example, but if a game is originally in Japanese if will ALWAYS be better than the dub. In fact, this rule can be applied to any language in any type of media. The original voices in their original language will always be more fitting and more faithful than any dub.
