I tried. I can't. No matter what I play, what I watch what I do the only thing I can think about is NieR.

It's funny, cause the more I think about it the more I realize that the spoilers were probably trolling. Every other spoiler has had some form of confirmation but this one.

Combined with the fact that if they were true, it would turn the entire experience of ending E meaningless. And Yoko Taro always said he wants his games to have meaning.

And yet despite all logical thought dictating that I'm being trolled, I still worry.

Am I the only one that felt the 2E reveal was weak as fuck?

1. 2B and 9S have only been with each other a short time. Route A/B is their first time on a mission together.

2. 2B only kills 9S twice.

3. Both times 9S dies it's HIS idea to do it. He pulls out his Black Box first, he asks 2B to kill him after the fight with Eve.

There is zero indication that 2B is ever performing a YoRHa designated execution, and it's always 9S sacrificing himself. I was willing to buy into 2B being distraught after the Eve fight because 9S keeps dying on her and she can't keep him safe, but the 2E idea feels slapped on at the very end with no actual build-up to it. When they show flashbacks to the death scenes I didn't think, "Whoa, I'm seeing this in a whole new light!" Instead I thought, "Wait... 2B isn't executing him at all, it's his idea..." and it took me out of the moment hard.

By the way, have you watched Kaiba? It's probably the closest to Automata mix of existentialism, body-jumping, memory chips and heartfelt love story i can find.

So the English and Japanese versions of Weight of the World have significantly different tones and lyrics (outside of the language differences obviously). I've seen it suggested that English is 2B's perspective and Japanese is 9S's (I guess because they play during the credits of their respective playthroughs?). I don't really buy that, but it is interesting that they are so tonally different. Does anybody know if the French version is the same way? It'd be neat if it provided yet another outlook and would match up with there being three protags. I have the feeling the French version is just an afterthought but it'd be cool if there was more to it.

I have no idea. The only thing that annoys me is that the game is locked to 60fps and it frequently drops to 59fps and that causes screen tearing if it happens while the camera is moving around. That's the extent of the issues I've encountered with the PC port.

Well, that and how it fucks with my resolution (forcing open windows to change sizes) because it can't just start up in 2560x1440 correctly, but that's not a glitch it's just a problem with how they handle the startup altogether.

It killed my video card. Yeah, I liked how the affection isn't always reciprocated in the same way. 2B appears to have feelings for 9S that straddle both romantic and platonic, while 21O is guarded about her affections for 9S until she learns about family, and her feelings towards him manifest to a familial-mothering type. Much better than simple love triangles.

Devola and Popola are about as old as they come and are explicitly stated to have artificial skin and blood. I find it unlikely that YorHa reinvented the wheel for its units beyond the use of machine cores, so I'm tempted to believe that A2 has the same "skin" as other androids.

If I had to guess, androids have their skin grafted on in subsections, and A2's accumulated damage has led to the skin shrinking and exposing the seams between subsections.

Note that you can see that her legs are clearly patchwork and asymmetrical in her concept art. I don't have the game installed on this box to check the model.

I'm sure it has something to do with Mama Grotesquerie, since there's no way the planet became tidally locked naturally (and it probably isn't tidally locked anyway since 2B/9S can only liken it to old records and the Bunker instead of the opposite side of the world) in the 1,300 years before Nier. But it can't have been an immediate effect either, else the coverup of 6.12 would never have worked.

It's still soft, else the joints wouldn't be able to move, but it's definitely more metallic. Probably some sort of armor layer. Under that is artificial muscle.

The very first dialogue choice in the game is "flirt with 9S", dude. There's also hints like Cruel Blood Oath, 2B getting jealous or japanese weight of the world lyrics. Hell her C route actions scream from her love to him.

But their feelings for each other transcend common meaning of romantic and platonic love, really. Deep, nearly mad infatuation and care for each other despite their shitty destiny. They both call each other the "light" of their lives for a reason.

I don't remember her being depressed at the start of Route C. She says someone needs to talk to her and that she'll be right behind you. What point in the story/character and whatnot did you catch her being depressed in?
