LSTAR I feel is just a bit easier to use against pilots with bigger projectiles but the tradeoff is doing diddley dick to titans, but there's always secondaries

Just try both and use whatever tickles your pickle more, whether you like the idea of splattering pilots with plasma beach balls or a fully auto micro missile launcher is up to you

Just started a new XCOM playthrough with Titanfall Gear mods to replace all my Rookies with IMC Grunts, looks pretty slick.

They're the most consistently awful batch of rookies I've ever had, they fucking suck. Sniper hasn't hit a single shot with her rifle yet in 2 missions. The Ranger missed WITH A FUCKING SWORD. If by some miracle they survive long enough to get nicknames I'll upgrade them to Pilot gear.

Cluster Missile is nearly invisible depending on where it's placed, meaning instant death as a pilot.

Ion has turned me into cuck of the month as my waifu is flashing literally fucking everyone.

TTKs are absurdly low as any attempt to aim against a target that is aware of you is pointless, while you dance around spraying and praying to the RNG for headshots.

I don't think this is much different than it was on launch, but for fuck's sake shouldn't things get better over time?

She's still far from useless, but her close range options are and always have been extremely limited. That is: Run, traps, railgun and cluster missiles. In that order, usually. Now the railgun is effectively useless against the only titan fast enough to run her down. It wouldn't be bad if they made piercing shot punch through sword block, it'd even make sense. And be a good reason to run something other than viper thrusters. But they didn't do that from what we currently know, so she just got much much more vulnerable. And you know, that's not something that can be ignored considering she was already the most vulnerable titan in the game. Had to rely on speed and smart usage of cover to make up for it, still do. Except now Ronin can outspeed and fuck you up easy, whereas before a good NS would use the railgun to discourage that and force them to back the fuck off.

Northstar is the only titan I have seen single-handedly kill four others from full health while she is the last titan standing. The others are just too weak at range, too specialized, and/or too slow. I mean a ronin or scorch can deal amazing damage, but not without taking plenty themselves. Ion can hurt Northstar at mid-long range but get out of laser shot range and her fat ass will never catch up.

In order to get 1v4d by a northstar you have to have multiple horrible misplays. No matter how good the northstar is unless you slowly one by one all walk across a long distance you can trade damage and kill her unless you are ronin. Any titan that wins a 1v4 is because of the team of 4 doing everything wrong possible.

With the recent change Ronin is going to rape NS pretty often. So how about:

>piercing shot mod altered to punch through 40~% of shields and blocks

IE: A fully charged railgun shot would go through titan shields and sword block but do 60% or so less damage than it would normally. And it'd have to be a fully charged shot or it wouldn't pierce, and this would only be with the Piercing Shot kit.

Thoughts? I think this fits Northstar well without being too overpowered, and brings her up in line with the other titans instead of being more or less bottom like she will be after tomorrow's update.

Her limited energy and weak primary weapon makes it more difficult to take 2 titans head on compared to a aoe damage and HP tank like Scorch, a powerhouse like Legion, or a teleport like Ronin. She's always waiting for recharge. She is amazing at mid range sniping, though her laser shot range was nerfed - and it just fucking ENDS, not even reduced damage.

1v1 she stands a chance against any other titan by reflecting shots, carefully hitting critical laser shots, and punishing reloads or mistakes with the splitter.

Don't use your core unless you know you have a good position. It makes you very slow and vulnerable. If you're low on health, you might survive longer and do more damage without using it.

It is in fact the first and flagship mode of the game, and pretty much how it was conceptualized during development.

This game is done for. The devs have no idea what they're doing. How is a tactical that has more health and amps your weapon allowed to have more health than a boost that doesn't amp your weapon? Don't come at me with that stupid bullshit about changing Amp Wall into a boost and making Partical Wall the tactical. This raises other problems as why the fuck would any player worth their salt ever choose Amp Wall as a boost when it only lasts so long and instead you can choose Amped Weapons and have infinite ammo with the damn things. Amped Weapons need a change in general, in the first game there was no infinite ammo. Just change it so amped weapons only gives you so many mags of it depending on the weapon class. Arc Grenades only needed to be changed to how they worked in TF1, a fuse timer on them. There, they would be fixed.

Ion still being the best sniper titan and no mention of the Ions bug fixes is no nerf at all. Ion before Colony couldn't melee cancel Laser Shot, Ion before Colony couldn't throw out tripwires while holding the 2nd Laser Shot charge, no mention of fixing the exploit of player hopping out of Ion and back in to instantly refill energy. All you have to do is player Ion like a hitscan Northstar by poking around corners and hiding or exploiting until your energy is full and keep doing it. Use Entangled Energy and there you go, easily rechargeable energy if an enemy pushes you and you can throw out more Laser Shots.
