Scorched earth your provinces, get your forts up and Defensive Ideas, and wait for attrition to start fucking them. The Siberian provinces have low supply rating and it'll take them literal years to take enough to get close to any of your provinces that actually matter if you have a couple of forts, at which point you can use your saved money and manpower to win some crucial battles by taking advantage of the long movement times combined with movement locks and terrain.

Enforce Peace is annoying but there's ways around it. It's mostly designed from the point of view of a player King managing AI dukes, not the other way around.

One way to completely avoid it, use an Independence faction and get it strong enough that your liege gives in rather than fight. 140% should do it.

For context the current queen of Lombardy is 3 years old, unmarried, and has no heirs. She is willing to accept a normal marriage proposal to my eldest son (10 years old). What I'm thinking is that if I can hold out just a little longer I can change my succession laws from Seniority to Primogeniture. I only need 100 more cultural tech points to get to legalism 3 for late feudal administration.

Here are my concerns, however: I'm a 50 year old ruler which means I could literally die at any moment from old age. If I'm going to make this plan work I need to both stay alive until I can implement Primogeniture succession and get my son as close as possible to the queen so that they can have children when she comes of age. I also need to form an alliance with the queen so that I can protect her in the case of a revolt or invasion.

By some fortunate accident of succession laws I managed to get Neapolis as one of my vassals. I'm thinking that if I can get Neapolis under my direct control ASAP then if needed I can switch my capital to Neapolis and throw 10,000 mercenaries in front of any forces attempting to invade Lombardy. This will also allow my son to be close enough to the queen to start producing children when she comes of age.

Do you think my plan will work or is it doomed to fail?

Newfag trapfag here, I stumbled upon the concept of grand strategy games recently and got EU3:DW since it was the best combination of easy to find and download, relatively low learning curve (according to a 5 minute google search), and most importantly that I could actually run on my toaster of a laptop since I apparently can't run any incarnation of EU4. Since I've picked it up, I've played a few saves as the teutonic order, minamoto, the aztecs, brandenburg, and sweden, each lasting for around 100 years give or take. Currently on frankfurt, trying to see how far I can take them just by blitzing towards tech with an emphasis on being small and economic and avoiding other people's wars. Maybe when I have 10+ tech levels over absolutely everyone else I'll just steamroll them so that even if the emperor bitches about it, he can't stop me. Haven't decided yet.

The thing is, I haven't slept well in like 5-6 weeks. I used to get like 10 hours a night, now I wake up, open my laptop and load my save again, play for around 15-20 hours straight before I get too tired to continue, then wake up and do it again. The actual time I wake up and fall asleep varies and is dismissive, and I end up eating whenever I actually notice I'm hungry rather than on a semi-regular pattern. I don't even give any mind to my other hobbies anymore and my backlog has not only been not touched, I'm not even keeping tabs on what should go in it.

I have NEVER been sucked into a game like this before. is it just because it's a new genre for me, am I maybe a little autistic, or is this just norrmal for new people trying to overcome the learning curve? Regardless, I figure I'll lurk here for a while and hopefully absorb something useful, if only just perspective. Just from browsing this thread, it seems like this community has a decent learning curve too.

In the most daring raid so far in Empire history, the Fearsome Rock Confederation, perhaps knowing their time runs to an end and wanting to take out as much has they can, launched a daring raid against Sheymo, the 2nd largest planet in our empire, topped only by our home Nuld. Worse, Sheymo is in the Sol system, with our capital at Nuld being on the other side of the system.

With the inhabitants of Nuld watching the battle across the system and their brothers fighting for their life, the government is in a full on panic. Asides from wondering how the hell the Fearsome Rock Confederation got past all the other system to get to Sol, nearly all Fleets were in the Northern Western parts of the Empire preparing for the attack in the Rock's home base.

The 6th Fleet, half a sector away in deep space heading for our eastern colonies, is ordered back to Sol to defend what many in the Fleet call home.

It seems that as we have underestimated the pirates, the pirates underestimate our stations. While a few nearby escorts gave their life to help defend the station, the station itself was able to hold off the marauders, not only forcing them to flee before the Fleet even arrived, but taking out at least a pirate cruiser as well. The pirate fled somewhere east, where the 6th's been ordered to hunt them down after repairs are made to the space station.
