Its incredibly easy now, takes some time (1ish hours? 2 if your new to it) but most of that is just watching bars fill.
I will say this, if you are on the right FW and can hack it, reread and do everything, and I mean everything the guide says (unless its clear it doesn't pertain to you). You'll have no chance of bricking then.

I finally beat Megami Tensei 2 and I did it without using a guide. Unfortunately I didn't get a to punch god in the face but at least its done because this game really drag on the late game for a fucking long time. I do like it alot more than the first game though since it wasn't just a huge labyrinth and there was alot more options for building your party.

Tone and atmosphere-wise, Persona 4 was the only Persona game I didn't like. The combat in vanilla P3 and FES was shit, and P3P fixed that. Unfortunately, it also cut out all the cutscenes and wasn't rebalanced around the new combat.

P1 and P2 have standard JRPG combat, but the animations and such are ass. If they remade those games on P5's engine, they'd be amazing.

Persona 5 in general was fucking good though. I'm really happy with how it turned out.

People enjoy Persona more for it's setting and characters than it's easier difficulty.

A story about some high schoolers trying to live a normal life and being swept up by some shit resonates with more people than the stories in most SMT games.

They have different tones, and looking down on people for preferring one over the other is stupid. Some people don't like first person dungeon crawling. Some people want a more down to earth setting.

Also all the idiots whining about how Persona 4 was going to kill Persona now have no leg to stand on, as Persona 5 is a much better game. For some fucking reason, people had it in their heads that the lighthearted tone of it and it's spin-offs was what the franchise was gonna be. A spin-off is the perfect place to experiment with dumb bullshit. I actually like Persona 4 more in retrospect for trying something very different.
