Take 5 points from VIG, END and VIT and put on Prisoner's Chain instead of Steel Protection, it gets nerfed during PvP and you should be able to comfortably dodge in PvE

That gives you 15 more points to put into STR. if you can get 5 more from elsewhere (I personally tend to run with 35 VIG nowadays since it gives 1209 with Favor +3, so that's an option) Then you've got 60 STR right there

Quick attacks, very long range, poise break a lot of enemies all while still doing decent damage, and you can attack from behind a shield. Most have a good distance closing WA for getting a strong hit in from outside aggro range. Best of all they're perfect for corridors, where the range and ability to attack from behind a shield can save you from the dreaded "Oh god it's my first time here and I accidentally pulled the whole big everything"

The long range also means you can pierce multiple enemies at the same time

Oh, and I personally think the one handed walking animation for spears and halberds is sexy

Quit missing ropes with your bident, the prongs are practically a sight for aiming

Not the guy you're replying to, but one of the main uses of a Quality build is to find the weapons you like, since you can equip damn near anything. That said, i personally love the Drakeblood Greatsword for that sexy two hit heavy combo, and the Fume UGS for both the moveset and the prestige that once came with having it

It really depends on what you consider to be fun. I liked the starting challenge, and how powerful it becomes later on, as well as how capable you are of handling different weaknesses. Also, you are required to play more cautiously in order to ensure you don't run out of spellcasts, as well as the obvious dangers of being a glass cannon. Really lets you feel powerful in a lot of areas most just feel average in, while adding a new layer of challenge if you've done a few melee runs

Except the only true part of this post is the range, and you can't out-range the majority of mobs in PvE. Damage output for PvE is some of the worst in the game, attacking while blocking is a meme that isn't actually functional. They bounce off everything and fail to stagger anything with more than zero poise. Fighting multiple enemies with them is actually terrible because their hitboxes are too tight, even if you're lining things up you can't reliably interrupt multiple mobs.

On a PvE tier list they probably place slightly above Whips.

I'm trying to come up with something new to do in the souls games as a challenge playthrough sort of deal

Ive done most of the obvious ones like no leveling, no estus, etc, some cosplays, in Dark Souls 2 I did no talking to NPCS as well which was pretty interesting but wouldn't work as well in some others due to weapon upgrading not being tied to an npc (in bloodborne its a bench for example), I've also done crossbow only in DKS2 and 3 as well as throwing items only in DKS2

I'm looking for something else interesting I could try, preferably in DKS3

It could be really hard or it could just be kind of weird, I'm down for either, i was considering no upgrading weapons but I feel like there's prob some weird combo of raw or bleed or something that'd make it dumb anyway

1) Download latest CE table

3) Disable your network from adapter settings or pull the plug
4) Check all options in the script if you're popping your cherry, you can do almost everything
5) Drop ember, check your ID notepad and swap, repeat, goal is to max out one character
6) Change auto-save slot and interact with a bonfire, for example, to dupe your character
7) Change name, starting classes, lick Rosaria's feet to change appearance and stats and reset rebirth count at the end
8) Repeat 6 and 7
9) Make another save backup after you're done, just to make you feel good inside
10) Exit game, exit CE, enable your network/plug your dick

If you feel that going online while using CE is a good idea, bans last 2 weeks. Just delete your save, use family sharing or play something else. Check after 2 weeks and if you're unbanned, you can put back your CE save game.

If you offhand the VH you can use both movesets to their full extent. Also, blocking with the sword uses the shield's stats iirc, so it's one of the better offhand weapons. If only whips weren't so terrible

>use boss souls to buy a stack of prism stones
>drop like 40 one by one
>give self essential items (orbs, soapstones, binoculars, gems, coals, slabs(don't give yourself more than ~10. Apparently autobans you over a certain amount), chunks, large & small titties, twinkling tits, demon tits, ashes, consumable great hero souls, the best rings (sage, darkmoon, prisoner's, chlo, havel, bellowing, red tearstone, ...), gesture stones, covenants, tongues (for respecs), spellbooks/divine tomes/pyromancy scrolls, the whole lot)
>bonfire warp to unlock all the vendor npcs to make life a little easier
>bonfire warp to pontiff, kill him (he won't move or attack, just stands still) to "legitly" activate the bonfire.
>unlock all gestures
>copy the save file over to several save slots
you now have a minimum level character with most things at easy access on different slots
now if you want to make a character, pop some consumable souls, level to where you want, use CE to drop yourself the weapons/armor/spells you want if they're not sold by the vendors

Frayed Blade is pretty good but you have no parry from hold stance.

For this reason I prefer the WP or Chaos Blade.

Chaos Blade is IMO one of the coolest looking weapons in the game and it's a staple in the souls series.

I'd use Chaos Blade for a DEX build and WP for a quality build.

If you don't summon phantoms yourself and aren't in any covenant that summons blues for help in case you get invaded, the chances that you will get invaded yourself are diminishing low. Especially in areas which currently are rather active (indicated by the Humanity symbols at the bonfire menu) - as invasions, regardless of covenant, ALWAYS prioritize hosts with AT LEAST one phantom, and/or hosts who are in either Way of Blue or Blue Sentinels.

tl;dr, don't use Blue Sentinels/Way of Blue and don't idle in areas where it's likely that you're the only player around, and you'll only get invaded once every 5 hours, tops.

OR you just fucking kill the area boss, as this won't prevent you from being able to help out others.
And if you're some sort of person who complains about invasions when he "just wants to have fun with friends" in his own world, then you should just Bloodlust yourself.
Invasions always were the intended counter to making the game to easy - and invaders are still highly disadvantaged in every aspect.

It's easier to knock out Dancer on a well-leveled character with fully upgraded equipment. From there you can take on Oceiros and then the Champ at your leisure, but you might lose out on choice invasion spots for a while. Mostly Irithyll, Catacombs, Abandoned Tomb, and Profaned Capital. You can get to TRC by clearing out AoA which is super early, and then you can invade there pretty frequently.
