i've been gearing up an alliance alt that i've had since the legion pre patch invasions and i'm enjoying arms warrior quite a bit, though i think the focused rage playstyle is dumb i've adapted to it pretty quickly

what exactly is the downside of this spec compared to fury? i don't see much arms warrior parses on warcraft logs

Mainly because when Patch 7.2 came out you had to complete a Legion Invasion in Aszuna, Val'sharah, Highmountain, and Stormheim for Pathfinder Part 2. It has since been removed (thankfully). The main issue now is just the insane scheduling.

They're scheduled in a way that there's almost always one going on. They last for 6 hours and then you have to wait double that for the next one since there's only one a day.

MM is a very good trash compactor. Single target is decent but the moment you have to move you lose lots of damage. Also very reliant on hitting crits during Trueshot; meaning all forms of Trueshot CD reductions (2pc, CoF, Boots, at least 1 relic) are required to be competitive.

As an example, my 100 focus Piercing Shots can hit 1.8-1.9M on a Vulnerable boss, but it will crit upwards up 6-7M during a Trueshot. It's a huge range of potential damage and if you miss it you're boned for those 30 seconds.

Lack of burst in some situations, like a single target with low health that needs to go down asap like the books from the library dude in cath, or bosses that don't have adds that you can agony for increased non rng shard gen. In the second example, that's not an issue on longer fights in raids where we can ramp up over time and surpass other classes, but is where the quickest kill for a good time is necessary. I really hate the end of VOTW for this since that boss gets rid of your dots whenever it disappears, making my ramp up tedious and slower in a fight where burst is super important.

With the current PTR changes looking like we'd either run Haunt or the weaker MG for mythic + content though, along with a new talent to replace effigy, afflic could become better or worse overall very soon. I'd still play afflic over the other two though because the afflic playstyle allows for so much self sustain and mobility on the fly in 5 mans

Like 11 and beyond? I suppose the closer mobs and bosses are to raid health, the better afflic could perform. I don't have the helm because I've been getting unlucky drops, so I'm running the cloak and sephuz rn. 128.5% mast, 19.6% crit, and 18.4% haste atm, but obv sephuz is propping my haste up quite a lot. I'm definitely low on haste since Pawn's now saying it's my #1 weighted stat over mastery in my most recent sim.

Honestly? Monk. They have a lot of story stuff and you get to do the Pandaria Peak of Serenity stuff as you level. Plus I think it has one of the better class fantasies.

My second choice would be druid. It has less story stuff than vanilla but it's still got some coool junk. Also hunters are fun as fuck to level, I've literally got 4 hunters at 100+ on various servers because I just like playing them a lot. Make a Survival hunter, those are fun as fuck to level for some reason. Just enchant all your heirlooms and go to town.

In addition to my resto druid main I have a 102mage, 100hunter, 100 lock and 52 rogue to level. Should be fun.
