Gonna assume you have members already, go do the obvious quests, dwarf cannon, waterfall quest, recruitment drive, that one for herblore I can't remember the name of right now, get your stats up to a decent level, and then get your combat stats up to 60+, and then work towards requirements for RFD. After that you should have an idea of what you want to work on for your own desires be it moneymaking or for a cape or whatever.

Generally my priority on a new nonpure is hitting levels for:
Dragon slayer>fairytale 2>rfd>mm. Ultimately it's up to you though.

Storytime.

Used to co-admin a bot farm with a couple friends. Had a pretty swanky setup, was pulling decent profits. One constant throughout the whole ordeal was the fact that Jagex, with the exception of those publicized "bot nukes," wouldn't do shit until we unloaded our GP. At first, we compensated for this by using mules—we used a sort of hierarchy system, where each bot was assigned a rank, and after generating a set amount of wealth, would locate a bot of higher rank to unload. We associated rank inversely with riskiness of activity, so the higher the rank, the lower the chance of getting banned for usual botlike activities. Mules helped, but not immensely: we were still susceptible to chain bans, and Jagex was mostly looking large trades/series of trades.

Our saving grace was while working a side project, which was a GE flipping network. We stumbled upon a handful of items which had no volume—literally, there zero buy offers and zero sell offers. Ever since, while we still used bot-to-bot trades for wealth concentration, larger unloads (mostly to retailer accounts, since at that point we didn't do individual sales anymore) were conducted by having the recipient place a sell order for some obscure item (e.g., bronze throwaxe), which the mule would fill.

I'm not sure whether Jagex is still ignorant of this transfer method. Depending on how much you want to sell (less than 100m? 200m? 500m?) you'd probably (read: definitely) want to incorporate a handful of methods if you want to keep your main.

Feel free to ask, I'm happy to give advice.

Gold farming can be worth it depending on your setup, partners, and expertise. My team and I all had several years experience as programmers (on various levels) and sysadmins. The tech stuff came easy to us. After that it was grunt work of learning the system and setting everything to automate. (Go on, ask me how automated it was.)

The numbers are pretty straightforward: consider something entry-level, like 20 bots. They work in shifts, each averaging 4-6 hour days at 80% efficiency, bringing in maybe 800k - 1.2m per hour. That's a solid 100m per day, give or take. Think $500 - 700 a week.

Granted, it's not the most reliable income, but yes, you can do well for yourself.

Fossil island will contain volcanic ash which allows the creation of compost potions and ultra compost.

-GE buy limits for (super) compost is 600, they're currently ~585 gp each.
-An individual player can turn 75 super compost (In bins) into ultra compost immediately on release, and then every ~50 minutes afterwards. This means upon fossil island release ultra compost will be fairly rare, and probably in demand for herb farmers who have large stacks of cash anyway. If volcanic ash is easily collectible (Think whiteberries if they were not in wilderness) then the price would probably be comparable to the avg. difference in snapdragon harvests between super and ultra compost per 15 units of compost. Assume that the avg. harvest difference is 2-3 herbs. That is roughly 500 gp per compost. This means that the ultra compost will settle probably roughly double the current price of super compost.

This also means that release hype will probably RAISE the price of super compost itself leading it to be around ~700-800 gp until the influx of compost potions dies down. All of this put together means that everyone should have 600-1800 super compost ready to flip on update release for an easy spot of cash, as well as preparing your compost bins ahead of time to apply volcanic ash, which you only need 5 of, for an extra easy stack of cash.
