Pretty much, that's why when Yusuke meets the group to hang out during his rank 8 only Ryuji and Ann are there since it could theorectically take place before you meet anyone else.

In fact 5 is pretty bad about that. Dialogue in Mementos and during mini bosses is only from the characters that would be available when you first can get the mission, with everyone else silent. (Which also means Goro never has any dialogue for this ever).

The only one I can think of to avert this when you meet Mishima's shadow. You'll call the group, and it will have everyone in the party at the time (Goro included if it's while he's there) and there's even different dialogue depending on who's there.

The Morgana thing is really shaky, mostly because they wanted to it keep it so only the kids could understand him I guess.

The pancakes thing gives Goro away, but all they say is that it means he must have been to the metaverse before that, while they explicitly don't realize he's also the Black Masked guy following them around until he actually changes outfits in front of them. Something doesn't quite add up there since they should know he had to have also been spying on them earlier if he heard Morgana.

Meanwhile the metaverse merges with reality, and the whole group cheering the thieves on, Sae and Sojiro included (and they both are there by default) should hear Morgana speaking since he's giving a monologue at this point, yet afterwards it's still just the party that can understand him, even though the metaverse isn't even a thing anymore.

Cause they didn't want any filthy adults getting to have the special ability to hear Morgana I guess.

Balance is what has worked for this series. P3 was split nearly evenly between Yukari/Mitsuru/Aigis/Elizabeth. P4 did that even better with how scary even the 4 girls were in terms of fans. You had to have fresh content to keep your girl ahead of the others.

Now one character has the best design, most main story focus, Soejima and Hashino already confessing to her as their favorite, and least noticeable flaws overall. Everyone can lazily circlejerk or do baitposting at the obvious easy target. That's the default state for the next few years and doesn't seem fun.

I did nothing but sleep and play the game with a cat on my lap. It was comfy.
I didn't know who to waifu one my first run so I did Makoto but Makotofags make me feel dirty for it now.
Second time I wanted Kawakami but I managed to fuck up the prompt and didn't realise until I saved over the file so I went with Hifumi.
I also did merciless and let me tell you it's just a matter of being starved for exp but I still refused to grind so the first couple of bosses were pretty silly to beat but the second time I farmed reapers for 99 and steamrolled everything, even the twins which felt a bit bad actually. It was worth it anyway cause the twins literally go on about wanting to to suck you off after you win.
Might come back again for a third run where I finally get Kawakami in the future
Also I felt like the writing got real silly into the last part of the game to the point it was hard to take seriously, even for a Persona game, but then again the translation was so jarring sometimes that maybe the writing was never meant to go to shit.

The biggest retcon is the Adachi S Link, which makes Yu respect and somewhat like Adachi even after he's revealed to be the murderer, where as in the original game (and the first anime) he never really cares about him and just full out hates him and thinks he's a loser.

I chose futaba first, then haru in ng+, i am trying to get all the link speed boosting items eventually. Haru really likes you near the end of her link, Futaba also gets really attached to you for a lot of reasons and it ties into her rank 10 speech very well. Have not gone Makoto so I can't vouch for her. Futaba will remain my favorite waifu though
