Because "pros" play it, streamers play it, and some people are of the delusion that they can win money or sponsorship from the game some day. Anyone who only plays SFV has more than a few brain cells #leftbehind. SFV is low level, casual shit that is easily accessible. Hard doesn't make a fighting game better but there's minimal depth to the game and muh shimmy back and forth is about the only expression and meta to the game.

SF has the throw/meaty mix up that is a 50/50. In GG you usually have to spend some sort of resource to get a 50/50 mix up and/or be in the corner and/or do it after a specific kind of knockdown. The reason Millia is so infamous is because she is the only character that has consistent, TRUE 50/50s off of every knockdown. In GG you can't use the throw/meaty mix up on oki as the opponent can just reversal throw you on their wake up if you attempt to do anything that is grounded while in their throw range. The only thing that makes GG oki stronger is the fact that it's usually a high/low mix up which means you get a combo from both options instead of getting a combo from one of the options.You can bring up all sorts of excuses like how you can "late tech" but in anime you can fuzzy guard. I'm not even going to begin to talk about how dumb SFV's stun system is or the way it's knockdowns create one of the worst forms of ambiguity.

Sets are actually the best way to improve your skills so if anything there is more of a long term reason for you to play in lobbies, it also helps that it's more fun in the short term. There is absolutely no reason to play ranked unless you really care about a meaningless number next to your name. Do you honestly believe that playing ranked is more meaningful because you have a rank and points? I can tell you have only played SFIV and/or SFV lmao. I guess that everything before SFIV dropped in 09 was pointless too because no one cared about ranked until then. Lastly I don't why I'd be crying when I don't play any games that use ranked as their main mode. Pretty much the games that primarily use ranked are not my cup of tea gameplay-wise anyway, Tekken might end up being the exception though.

In my previous post I mentioned how I'm not familiar with Tekken and how it's ranked mode works. If you can infinitely rematch the same opponent without them having to agree to it then that is a very significant improvement to ranked play. It might exclusive to arcade play, it's the same in games like GG and BB. There are lots of hour long sets uploaded between two players in ranked. I hope Tekken 7 home release lets you infinitely rematch someone too.

When you lose you can challenge the opponent to a rematch, and both players can keep doing it until either player ranks up AFAIK, so it's like a deathmatch. I read that you can't rank down from revenge matches but I'm not sure how that works, it probably just can't trigger a demotion match. I also really hope they retain this feature.
Is Xrd online in the arcades? If not it's understandable that two people who sit down to play each other offline would keep playing for a long time, and that it wouldn't automatically translate to the home release. T7 is online even in the arcades so it's an actual feature of the online matchmaking system and it'd make a lot of sense to bring the system over as a whole.

I'm not completely sure how Xrd works in arcades. I think Mikado doesn't use online and it's cabs can only play against other Mikado cabs. I only really watch arcade footage from Mikado so I can't really comment on other arcades. Blazblue uses Nesica cabs, dunno if it's usually online.
