It's not even that GGG can't balance their game. It's that they already control the item and currency drops, if they controlled the player economy too it'd be far more damaging to the economy.

You instantly remove competition and things as basic as supply and demand. A regalia with 6 T1 affixes could already go for a pretty penny if they were common but it can go up even more if only a few exist. AIV would cut into any pricing that comes as a result of scarcity. Or if you have a meh unique and some streamer finds a good use for it, then everyone is going to want it, but AIV means the price can't change.

Furthermore there's nothing to differentiate your store from others. There's no way to sell your 10c item for 8c as incentive to get yours bought before others.

Plus, pricing for things would eventually be arbitrary. Crappy uniques that go for an alch suddenly cost 10c whereas stuff that would get you a few exalts in the past would only get you maybe 50c.

Prices for crap would rise, prices for good stuff would plummet, and nobody would be able to reliably buy OR sell gear.

frost blades raider or pathfinder does not require expensive gear, just two ToAs which are like 4-5c with a great roll and a 5l armor, you can get a 6l with some life and resists in your colors for about 20c, and then just get some darkrays and rape face.

i'm sitting at 64 dodge/56 spell dodge with permaphasing immunity to elements and probably the fastest clear speed of any build in the game that costs less than an exalt to fully gear. uber lab was rough but i managed on the 5th try, 4200 life isn't great but i prefer clearspeed for the most part.

oh, also whirling blades with stupid high attack speed is outstanding quality of life.

GGG is obviously intellectually incapable of properly balancing the hundreds of skill gems, thousands of passives, and thousands of uniques that they've added into the game.

in fact, logistically speaking, balancing everything would be virtually impossible

it's pretty clear that there's only one thing they can do and that's remove the vast majority of skill gems that have no use and/or don't have a unique playstyle, and streamline the passive tree even further to reduce confusion, make each point worth more to the player thus giving a sense of earned power upon leveling, and providing room for future additions and improvements by not needing to worry about all the extraneous shit they've thrown into this shitheap of a skill tree they so blatantly stole from ff11

it goes without saying that every aspect of this game is a huge mess and GGG has a lot of cleaning to do before they can step up into the realm of top tier games. all the bloat seems cool at first, but it's only skin deep and only creates the illusion of creative freedom. once you gain some experience it becomes clear that there is only one way to play a certain build archetype, and this is even more true now than ever with ascendency classes. in fact, because of ascendency classes they've shoehorned us into playing each build archetype one way. why bother with the useless shit then? it's merely a facade meant to be imposing to new players, but for what purpose? The 20% threshold for slayer's cull, and 10% cull for that matter just means you require less damage to kill the enemy. The overkill to leech works just the same as if you had no cull.
The damage in excess of the threshold of the enemy's "total" life whatever that may be, 100% of total with no cull, 90% with cull or 80% with bane of legends.. will be leeched as life.
