The Recruit helmet is about it. All of the armor is overdesigned as fuck, with too many useless indents and rivets everywhere. The unsc used to be about sleek, straight, geometric lines, but now we just have curves and indents everywhere. Anyone ever notice how similar MGS and Halo's releases are in terms of reception?

MGS1-HCE: Pretty much universally loved by people who played it at launch, and/or people who played it as kids.

MGS2-H2: Hated on launch, people felt misled, Raiden/Arbiter, Snake/Chief. Recently however, people changed their mind after some observation of how "revolutionary" it was. MGS2 with the whole internet context thing and H2 nailing down the console formula for years to come.

MGS3-H3: Loved by both people who have never played any other game in the franchise and diehard fans of every single one. Both have their fair share of fan service.

MGS4-H4: You either think the story is a fucking mess or a masterpiece. H4's mp doesn't have shit on MGO2 though.

MGSV:GZ-H5 (On launch): Underwhelming, not enough content. The mechanics show promise though.

MGSV:TPP-H5 (Today): People fucking hate the story, but the game is pretty good with solid well rounded mechanics. Or not, could be a mindless grind fest with no actual substance. Just to make sense of the story you have to set aside time, Tapes/Books.

I never said they were inferior whatever that means. I explained why I have an issue with them in the more normal modes.
Choice one is you're shooting a model whose hitbox doesn't match which is annoying for obvious reasons, most games try and minimize model/hitbox disagreement as much as possible.
Choice two is hitbox matches the model but that is also annoying given the unfortunate posture of the elite, if 343 can make an elite model whose head is higher up without triggering elite fans such that the hitbox is very close to spartan I wouldn't mind it.

And as I said before having a mode where it makes sense, e.g. Invasion or in casual party modes is fine and I'd like it. At that point it's just a question of dev time and what should be prioritized. Maybe they'll do it so they can extract micro-transactions from elite fans.

The elite issue could be easily solved, especially nowadays, by applying damage boosts/nerds to certain body areas. Give the elite a certain area on its back that is equivalent to heads hit damage.

So how's the steam port of Halo Wars? I can't find a single review on youtube that isn't just "muh graphics" and every review on steam is just more port begging.

From what I can gather from snippets is that it's region locked, has no matchaking, and the KB&M controls are non-rebindable and don't work half the time.

That thing about keyboard controls is false. I was able to rebind them right from the start and they work just fine for me. One issue I did have, though, was occasional freezing and crashing. Something about a graphics adapter being disconnected, but the pop-up window didn't last long enough for me to get a good look. The best way to play Halo 3 was offline system link because then everything was accurately paced. Online play was always subjective to bad shot registration.

What if Slayer was first to 30 then you would swap sides and reset the game? each round being 6 minutes long (3 mins OT)

so you have to win both rounds to win the game (first to 60)

if both teams got to 30 in seperate rounds you would then go into overtime. this OT would be to stop mathematically impossible comebacks from occurring to give the trailing team in the second round a fair chance.

i.e.

Red Team wins the 1st round 30 - 17

(map reset, spawns swapped)

Blue Team goes and wins the 2nd round 30 - 28
So even though over the two rounds Blues lost 47 - 58 they still managed to pull out a draw and take the game into overtime.
then maybe something funky like if you do go into a third round (OT) where it was like a VIP game mode with no power weapons / no pick ups and the first team to kill the opposing VIP wins.

Yeah but in Halo 5 if you haven't noticed this causes a snowball effect due to how the weapons respawn and also the map movement allows for players to easily start the enemy team on a spawn cycle which is very hard to recover from.

This game isn't halo 3 where the maps are balanced properly and the movement speed is slow enough for the enemy team to coordinate a counter.

Unless you're playing in Bronze league but in that case this game type is trying to be designed for you.

And no, if you haven't noticed the competitive community likes pistol only starts with the precision rifles being put on longer respawns than previously due to the disadvantage the opposing team has off respawn if they lose the opening push. With the maps in H5 being pretty much all asymmetrical it's very hard to balance them at all even without power weapons in the first place
