When his AI is being shitty and the fight consists of 90% that sequence over and over, it gets really dull. His moveset is too small overall for what they were trying to go for, I think.

Exactly. They're so slow and the only gimmick the attacks have going for them is counting on the cape to clip you. If he had attacks that could be tossed in between the hits, he would be even better instead of being predictable. They designed the fight so he would be a damage sponge and a single slash+cape could potentially ohko you but you could see them from a mile away. His moveset is consists of moves the player can do only ramped up to pve tier and they can only be better if he was able to use two tactics at once.

His third phase+trailer music is the weakest part of the fight since they're just as bad as Blackflame Friede because the atmosphere is excessively overdone. His AI starts doing more flying somersaults and flips that they're more annoying than fun to fight. I would have liked that he added more mixups to his own moves as his hp bar goes down but not changing his pace; the more moves he puts together the more unpredictable his combo extends and makes the battle refreshing every time you encounter it. When his last phase hits, you're just backing off and wailing at him whenever he's done with his crossbow+jump.

It's a pity the High Wall didn't connect directly to the undead settlement bridge like it should've. I wouldn't say the atmosphere is overdone so much as the fight doesn't match the atmosphere.
The music is cool, the lightning is overblown to the point of being almost cheesy, but that's totally not a bad thing (no matter what reddit millennials afraid of their own boners will insist while spouting 'cringe').

But the fight itself is fucking santa doing flips with poofy cape smoke. There's a dissonance there that kind of undermines the cool atmosphere they were trying to set up. Also there is literally nothing wrong with Blackflame Friede.

I'm glad you noticed that's it's a greathammer, weapon class slow enough that anyone can either roll through every swing or punish it if they do empty swings.
Frost does barely anything to stamina regen anyway and if you dodge the damage from frost it's just a joke.
Also eating moss is really quick and hard to punish if you just blew all your stamina chasing and spamming r1.
About the WA, you realize that anyone can just swing once and roll out? Perseverance on greathammers is too slow to punish that. Hell, this even works versus perseverance on hammers which are a lot faster.

Every 'dragon' you encounter in game is explicitly told to be a 'descendant' of the archdragons. Even the one in Ash lake is specified as a descendant.

The only one where they failed to specify is Sinh in DaS2, but since he shares the same anatomical features as most of the other descendants and is roughly the same size, you can pretty safely assume.

I mean, at that point you can literally just stomp him to death. Just back off after each knockdown and let your stamina recharge while he's catching up to you. The AW can literally do nothing to stomp now that there's no gap in the HA. The damage reduction means you'll never take too much damage and their low HP means you'll kill them in 4-5 uses. At most you might have to use a couple estus.

Ultras trivialize human-type bosses like that. Friede is the same way; you can wreck phase 3 effortlessly by stomping through everything she does.

It makes heavy armor builds more possible, since it can stack with Havel's and FaP, both of which you can get in +3 flavor now. Only really good for cosplays though, the whole reason for wearing heavy armor is the higher absorption, which gets offset by the damage increase.

And there are certain builds that are only viable at 150 or higher. Namely if you want to be a caster and/or Str/Fai paladin.

That's what I was thinking of doing instead. I just still think it's weird to put it here. Nothing good comes from opening this door, so why block it? Unless they put some better items in there, I don't see the point. It makes more sense to me that you'd get a branch in the beginning near the first statue and you can either use it there or unlock the woods early if you're knowledgeable.

Be honest /dsg/. It took me like 3 hours (each) to kill Nameless King and Champion Gundyr on my lvl 30 scrub with a +4 Raw Dark Sword. How fucked i am if I want to venture into the DLC with this same character without upgrading weps or levels. The good side note is that I now possess Gundyr's ring and a +4 dragonslayer axe. And 16 +10 Estus.
