I can't say much about gathering since I'm still working on getting miner to 60 but I hope they add some useful things for crafters to take advantage of, I found the "whistle while you work" stuff to be a little disappointing and I hope to see skills added that I can actually use.

Can someone explain how flying works to me? I got to the part where I get my black chocobo and it talks about using the compass to do some aether currents then I can fly.

The quest that gave me the compass didn't actually give me a compass in my inventory though, and talking to the guy at the inn I'm supposed to to get another one doesn't work either. And when I go to either currents in the menu where they told me to check, it just says no information to display everywhere.
