Nah. The way I see it, Haru is just a victim of not enough devtime and/or pacing problems. We know the game went through a lot of changes, like Hifumi was supposed to be a party member. To me it feels like Haru should have had Makoto's problems, but somewhere along the line Makoto simply became a favored character and stole a lot of development and character that's interchangeable with Haru, leaving Haru with less to work with.

On top of that, when you get Haru her problems have to be shoved aside because the plot really starts fucking kicking into high gear. So you have very little time to get to know her and then she's locked behind max Proficiency to boot and you meet her so late. And what's most jarring is that Haru talks like she has been with you for a long time...

What should have happened, it feels like, is you should have gotten Haru earlier during someone else's dungeon. Then you would get to know her, then know her issues with her dad, then do Okumura's dungeon. This would give you more time with Haru and give her more presence. But there was likely not enough time because they thought the game had been worked on too long and was becoming bloated, so something like that was never done.

Oh and Akechi should have been a girl.

I'm a very reserved individual until I'm with friends or until I get passionate about something. Rather cliche, but I'm a bit of a ambivert but I would prefer to stay home or inside and play vidya or read or watch tv shows as I get the majority of my energy from being along with myself. I think Haru still eeks out more Screentime than Goro in the end, mostly because she actually makes it to the end of the game and is in 4 dungeons to Goro's 1, while most of Goro's early screentime is just "Grr those phantom thieves!" with his actual story being info dumped 5 minutes before he dies.

Neither of them really compare to Naoto who jonis late but still feels like she has a gamelong presence despite that.

Well, I was mostly saying that both Goro and Naoto have this thing where they appear many times before they actually become super relevant, they both start out badmouthing the protagonists, but eventually decide joining up with them is the best choice.

Obviously the parallels are intentionally misleading since Naoto goes from suspecting the team to wanting to join them and Goro is just trying to set them up, but from the story's perspective up to that point they seem similar. After that, Haru certainly keeps getting screentime.

Don't the latter two negate the former? To me she feels a whole lot more like a nerd in the classical sense who happens to be pretty, you have to help her break out of her socially awkward shell. But you can still be pretty confident against people you hate or are standing up to while also not knowing how to act around people you want to like you-- I know that happens with myself.

5's end game is pretty crap honestly. You're basically locked in the final few screens of mini bosses and then the final boss, can't go back to Mementos, or the Depths to fight the Reaper or the twins on NG Plus (even though you won't be leveled enough to beat it until then) and there's no optional things to fight of any kind.

Compared to 3 which has Monad and the desert of doors in P3P and 4 which at least lets you free roam the dungeons and lets you fight the Reaper and bonus bosses, 5 pretty much locks you into fighting the final boss and that's it.

The inevitable rerelease needs to add something to actually do at end game beyond kill the final boss and watch the ending.

Passions: Last month, I finished my first post-college career-level job (Medical Software QA testing) of 2 years. Since then, I've been in a funk when trying to decide what I actually want to do with my life. I have such a hard time finding the drive to invest myself in things, that I'm not sure if I currently have a "passion" for anything...

Hobbies: I enjoy reading, playing games, talking with various groups of people online, and sleeping. It never feels like there's enough time in the day.

Dreams: I'd love to use my computer knowledge to create something (animations, video games, whatever), but I'm afraid of my quality of work not being up to the expectations of myself or others.

Friends: Since I moved to a bigger city for work, I have never really taken the time to make new friends. I still talk with people over the internet in various ways, but my actual interpersonal contact has dropped severely, for better and for worse. I'm generally friendly and polite to people I don't know, but often won't go out of my way to make friends.

Society: Most individual people I know and have met are mostly good people, but People as a whole are generally stupid, selfish and/or inconsiderate of others simply as a matter of human nature. I'm certainly aware of the hypocrisy of that statement, as it implies that I am not a part of the selfish stupid masses. I of course like to think I'm not, but who knows? There's certainly a lot of things I haven't experienced in life and therefore don't have an appreciable perspective on. As such, I think that as long you aren't disrupting the general balance, do whatever ya want.

I've actually played very few SMT/Persona games because I'm a completionist and it's scary to try to tackle games that can take 100+ hours each, especially because my desire to not miss things means that I either look up a guide and just go through the motions, or play blind in fear of missing things
