There's no need to update anything as long as you stay on your current firmware. I'm assuming you're on Luma so before you switch to 11.4 or whatever always check the Luma Updater beforehand. If you want to keep the HBL and/or NTR, check for updates respectively before you do anything.

Got an old R4 revolution flashcart, my 3Ds is running Luma etc, will I be able to use it? and if so, what do I need to be able to use the flashcart?

At the minute, the moment i launch the cart from my 3DS menu, the system encounters an error and I have to shut down

Go to Settings, Date & Time and uncheck to set clock via Internet.
Delete the folder ux0:user/00/savedata_backup (make a backup first) and create a blank file ux0:user/00/savedata_backup, again, a file and not a directory.

Nah, you can just update a few system titles like a normal system update would do. CVER, NVER and the Friend Module are the current ones the server checks I think. Maybe one or two more, but basically Luma and CTRhttpwn just spoof those files so no installation is needed.

Is there any chance for PS3 hacking to ever be possible in current firmwares? Maybe a way to rollback to previous firmware like the 3DS? Or is there zero interest for developing that?
