Good spacing, scythes, glaives, spears, playing like a vagina. Vertical swinging ultra greatswords have a huge opening after the second R1. Never swing twice even if you think you're 100% sure that you'll break their poise because there's a chance that you won't and take 2 450 damage swings to the face. If you're a dex build bait out an attack and get a running R1 in, then back off, rinse and repeat. Bait out rolling attacks, UGS users seem to love using them even if it isn't the poke rolling R1.

The characters in 2 were overall better-written. You had Chloanne who couldn't recognize her hollowed father, Lucatiel who serves as a tragic illustration of just what hollowing does, Tark who was the result of possibly Seath's experimentations, Pate and Creighton, and even Vengarl.

3's characters by and large felt rather soulless in comparison. I liked Siegward, and completing Anri's questline sort of felt fulfilling (though really there should have been a better reward for helping her beat Aldrich instead of letting her get offed by Yuria), but that was pretty much it. Orbeck was kind of cool but he didn't really go anywhere beyond sitting in Firelink and giving you things. And then you have absolute dogshit like Sirris, Leonhard and Eygon.

I dunno, a lot of 3 felt like carbon-copying of 1's characters and style, only with less heart put into it.

And a counter to the above with greatswords and ultras require similar strategy of spacing, mixing wa during a trade while drawing them in to miscalculate the spacing. Limiting the space by fighting narrow corridors or corners help. Delaying your attacks will roll catch them like webm related. I used to eat quickstep babies with whiffs so you force them to trade by keep attacking and mixing your moveset or simply waiting a split second before your next r1.

I kinda wish Lapp wasn't predictable as fuck but his well thought out questline balances it. It bothers me because the developers added him in as a way to throw back the cut out heavy armor and to shoehorn Patches in for the last content.

If you look at his equipment, it's heavy armor, heavy halberd and shield that implies those who wield it resisted the curse meaning Patches was without a doubt STRONK and the same powerlevel as you throughout all three games. So not just that he's been added in so many games by the developers that they developed a big favoritism for him which is understandable since he's cool but they should've have 'Lapp' be his own character for Ringed City. If you keep coming back to him while not saying anything about the monument then he ends up hollowing as he mentioned before and that's a cool detail that's done a few times in both DS1+DS3.

I don't really know, honestly. In Dark Souls the meta was 120 because that was enough to max out two damaging stats (STR, DEX, FAI, INT) as well as your endurance. The idea was that you could have a fully realized build whether it was a hybrid or purist.

120 in DS3 doesn't really make sense because of the insanely high softcaps on magic. 130-140 would probably be ideal, but I'm not a twitch celeb so I don't get to make these kinds of calls.

I have mixed feelings about this. It wouldn't have made a good WA for say thrall axe or any other dagger compared to quickstep but it should've been added in like a replacement for walking if you had them on. Would've been a really neat gameplay mechanic if we could sneak up on enemies cloaked without having to use rings or spells for stealth.

Spellcasters are forced to specialize because they have to invest much more into shit melee characters don't have to give a solitary fuck about. 120 as a meta is still pretty much either spellcaster or meleefag, since hybrid builds are still mostly dildos at that level.

There's really not much that can be done about that though, aside from From pulling their heads out of their asses and finally fixing magic.

You have two options

1 is more damage this set up is
Raw Dragonslayer's Axe + 10
Hunter's Ring, Knight's Ring, Lightning Clutch, and Lloyd's Sword Ring.
With Gold Pine Resin you get up to 750 AR

The second option is more forgiving
Raw Broadsword +10
Fap+3, Ring of the Embedded, Lloyd sword, Lloyd Shield
This gives you a decent amount of health and stamina, and raw broadsword has 322 AR without resins. You can add a resin that the boss is weak to and get something close to 500 AR with lloyds.

The second build lets you take 1-2 hits, where the first one you have to play perfectly.

What are you on about? I have 3 characters at 120: a sorcerer, a pyromancer and a melee quality build. They are all distinct from one another and have their own strengths and weaknesses.

What do you want exactly? For casters to be able to go toe to toe with melee? For melee to have access to every spell in the game?

120 is a perfectly acceptable level for PvP. You have to make choices regarding what playstyle you favour. You can't have your cake and eat it.

I used Debug quite a lot. Debug was amazingly useful, because it laid out a bunch of information in an easily accessible system with notes. Most of the structures we were able to map through Debug are the same in DaS3, since it uses largely the same architecture, so the things we learned from Debug are still relevant even now.

Caestus is definitely viable. I made a stupid punch character and hit gold duel honor with it today.

40/40 quality with gold pine resin and the L1 + L1 combo does at least half health to 90% of players unless they're packing super high strike absorb. Perseverance makes it relatively easy to land too.

I duel wield ceastus and try to be sneaky about when I switch from "two handing" my main one to catch people off guard. Works well against more passive players that catch on to the perseverance shenanigans.

Arena badges. First one is for duels, second one is for brawls. There's like 5 ranks or something, gold is the highest.
