Personally I'm thinking that it should be:
F/SN (anime) -> Case Files (LN) -> Strange Fake (LN)
And then just do the Apocrypha anime, Fragments, Extra/Extella, and GO in whatever order you please. Round it out with the Zero/Apocrypha LNs if you hate yourself and Carnival Phantasm if you're willing to get into Tsukihine or fast forward through its sections.

"Avenger" wasn't really a class before FGO because of the fact that it seemed to only exist for AM. As long as the number of Avengers and potential Avengers if kept in relative check, having more than one is an improvement over having only one.

It's okay as it is right not, but care should be taken to make sure it doesn't lose what makes it special. Gorgon and Lobo getting released so close together was a small mistake but not one that's incapable of being overcome. Leave the number of Avengers where it is for now, maybe add a couple new Rulers over the next six months, and it should be fine.

As someone who began learning Japanese 10 years ago because of reading Tsukihime, I really, truly hate what the Nasuverse and Type-Moon has become. I feel betrayed, frankly.

The most recent major works just feel... wrong. From Mahoyo to CCC to Apocrypha to Grand Order, they get exponentially worse each time. The former two had their flaws but were okay when I first read them, but the latter two really put into perspective the steep decline. Especially the latter three, they're all just so frivolous and the power creep is absurd. I know these are mostly Fate works, but since it's all a connected setting more or less, it feels like the whole thing has become tainted. There's no other way for me to describe it. The stigma of the later works, the scale of which has gone out of control feels impossible to escape now.

There's not a single hint of the mystique that once characterized the Nasuverse in its currently published works. The Root and a Magi's quest for it used to be so full of subtlety and enigma, despite obviously being an enlightenment pastiche. Now it's just powerlevels, fanservice and anime comedy gag scenes.

Even when the Tsukihime Remake comes out, it probably won't be instilled with the modest, somber atmosphere and utsuge sincerity of the original. We can already see that happening in Arcueid's seibaface or the Tohno Mansion's absolutely ridiculous new design.

The only one that knew about anything to do with Fate was the Enforcer's player.
It went pretty well, I forced them to group up early on to deal with the Assassins plus Berserker and after that they kept their alliance going up to the final battle versus Jezebel and the corrupted Longinus where most of them got picked off.
The Gypsy, Medb, and Enforcer were the last three standing and they struck an agreement where the Clocktower would wipe their records clean of the Gypsy's disgraced grandfather if she co-operated to secure the Grail for them, and Medb used the wish for a real body (after a good bit of charming the two since she was on her absolute last legs and the Enforcer still had an NP on hand from earlier he could use on her for at least mutual kill) before heading off to enjoy her new life.
Besides that it was pretty fun getting to orchestrate the villains and see my player's interpretations of the servants play out - particularly Medb, who ended up both really similar to and massively different from her canon self at the same time.

To be honest, recently, I've been primarily having fun with a few jokier characters. These include: "Avenger: Fatty Arbuckle" and "Lancer: Steve Urkel".
I've got great NPs for them, but I'll save those for another day. I'd rather tell you about some of the serious characters I've written up, like: "Assassin: Vasily Blokhin" and "Archer: Kisho".

I gave Blokhin a certain new job after he was supposedly fired by Stalin. He goes to work on faster, more efficient execution techniques in one of Russia's most secret programs. Therefore, his first NP is "Poison Laboratory of the Soviet Police: Kamera".

Kisho is an extremely obscure figure in Chinese mythology; his original name is "Jichang". Short version of his story is that he wanted to be the single most-skilled archer in the world. Eventually, he became so skilled that he didn't needs a bow or an arrow to kill birds - he needed only to look at them with intent, and they would fall from the sky. His spirit was so strong that thieves who attempted to break into his home whilst he slept would *feel* themselves being shot in the head by an arrow and fall off of the walls, only to realize that they were still alive. To this end, the man never touched a bow anymore, for he had no use for it. Decades passed, and Kisho asked a friend what a certain object that he had seen in the friend's house was for. The friend laughed and laughed as Kisho posed the question again and again, until he realized that Kisho was serious: the greatest master of archery no longer so much as recognized what a bow looked like. Can you guess his NP?

The 'gimmick' of the campaign was them having to work with eachother to function properly since Masters needed to be protected but could provide complimentary skills for Servants since they were a lot less combat focused, and my players were into it, so it went okay.

So am I. I was vaguely hoping to cop an idea off of someone here, then mix it up until it was completely different from the post, but shared its root.

I have *an* idea for it, but I don't think it's any good, so I don't want to use it. The logic goes that he doesn't know the name of his NP, and he isn't summoned with a weapon. Somehow, in the course of the War, he has to learn the definition of "bow", because that's his Noble Phantasm. "Bow". With it, he gets the bow from his life back, and the physical knowledge that comes with perfect mastery of the bow. He can never miss a shot after becoming a master in the legend of his life, so this becomes extremely powerful, which is why it's sealed in such a difficult way. A+ rank luck is given to ensure that he survives long enough for it to be possible for someone to teach him the concept of "bow", and so that he doesn't get his never-miss attack bullshitted like Cu does.

I kinda find this one to be a bit cheap or convoluted, which is why I was indirectly fielding/looking for suggestions. Might you have any? Or is it possible that you (or anyone) might actually like this idea?

I did a bit of reading on Ji Chang (who's story was really interesting, thanks for the introduction to him), and I have two guesses.
1. He regains the concept of a bow and crystallizes a bow and arrow from his meditations in forgetting the bow for a destructive single shot, but in doing so he forfeits all he has gained from forgetting the bow.
2. Condensing all of his meditations on learning and forgetting, Ji Chang forgets his sense of self and connects to the universe (the Root) and as an avatar of the universe, he forgets his target, erasing them from existence.

The second guess kinda goes overboard with powerlevels, but I think it's an interesting take on his legend.

That second guess is very cool, actually. Great idea. As you said, I think it's a bit strong for the scale of the war I'd like to write (although it'd be funny to see Urkel inexplicably dodge it).
I do like your first idea, too, but it seems like its usage would be very hard to justify. Though, that is part of the fun of writing. I may very well end up using one of these, or something extremely similar, if that wouldn't bother you. Either could be a last ditch effort at the end of the war to stop Kanaima from possessing every human in the country or something.

I let the three Servant players decide on a character and NP and then collaborated with them to stat them. Ran it on D&D 5E with a bunch of homerules because its a nice and simple streamlined system thats easy to homebrew with and they were familiar with it already.

High physical stats, with feats that gave him massive bonuses to grappling, stealth (when its night), and mobility. Basically the equivalent of good Monstrous Strength, high ME, good Disengage, and moderate Presence Concealment with a time of day condition.

His NP was the ability to rip trees from the ground and convert them into a battering ram that could dhatter mundane and magical barriers, representing him breaking into the hall by smashing the doors.

Starts out as a spectral entity made up of the 49 daughters who killed their husbands, but they split splitting themselves into other bodies via possession. They have very low stats since they're inhabiting modern humans but the trade off is that its damn near impossible to identify who they are unless they attack, and you need to destroy their first NP or exorcise them because otherwise they can come back.

NPs are one of the vases they carried in the afterlife which they use for the possession ritual, and the daggers they used to murder their husbands - which are pretty weak but have a bonus versus guys.

Big bitch Queen of Baal mountain. She was a socially adept character with great spellcasting that she used mostly to create idols to her gods that corrupt those around them, or lower their stats via mental influence. Sought to re-establish cults to her Gods immediately and uniquely spread her territory by spreading her faith and idols.

NPs were the aforementioned idols and a spell with a scaling powerlevel dependent on how many followers she sacrificed to invoke it that'd call a massive pillar of demonic fire down courtesy of her Gods.

Even that seems a bit broken, I mean the first thing Rin says to her Archer is "Where the fuck's your bow?" From that point it's pretty easy to explain what a bow is, what they're used for, how it works, everything that makes up a [Bow], even if you want it to be a bit deeper than that.
The best I could come up with is pretty close to a gimped version of KoO, he has to "take" another Heroic Spirit's NP for his own to manifest, and name the feat after the bandits attacking his house.
If he has a powerful and skilled enough Master its not impossible for a sub-par, Noble Phantasmless Servant to defeat another competitor or even cajole someone into "giving" them their NP, and it would be good to see them going from a team that has to work together to survive to one of the most powerful combos in the War. If the Master's ego is fragile enough, (like most Magi) there's a good chance he won't take that well.

One side is the nice Centurion who stabbed Jesus to prove he was dead and end the barbarity before later becoming a Saint, and the other, older account where he was a bastard and was condemned to spending eternity trapped in a cave being mauled by lions and regenerating from it daily.

High stats all around, knew sacramental magic, and essentially had battle continuation as best I could manage via a feat. He also conditionally had (essentially) huge ranks in mad enhancement and regeneration if the older interpretation of him somehow became dominant (which it did via Jezebel's interference) at the cost of his sacramental magic being sealed.

NP was, obviously, his Lance. It wasn't really that special beyond its divine nature and piercing magic protections.

Pretty standard Saber all around. Good stats and combat skills with magic resistance.

His main unique points were his two NPs, Crocea Mors and his shield. He got the former during a duel with Caeser in which it got stuck in the latter, and as such his shield had the property of allowing him to sacrifice it while blocking an attack to 'steal' the enemy's own weapon. Crocea Mors meanwhile left wounds that always turned necrotic and lowered one's stats.

Social character with shit stats but great skills. Could turn men into her Champion - buffing their physical stats to low servant levels or raising them two ranks if they were servants - by 'riding' them and having them swear fealty to her under a geass. Also knew a few odd bits of magic.

NP was the Bull of Cooley, a rampaging divine beast not even she could control once summoned. Best she could manage was bringing it out in the presence of her enemies and getting out of its way until it ran its course.

Great physical stats and lucked out because Athena's blessongs persisted in the modern era whereas Poseidon's ire had lost all effect, meaning he no longer was affected by difficult terrain penalties, had bonuses on all saving throws, could never get lost, and got crits more easily.

NP was his bow, which had essentially no range and eliminated all cover bonuses targets had going for them and penetrated through them in a line. Kinda regretted approving this one though since him and his partner abused the fuck out of it along with her scrying to basically have a remote drone strike.

I was kinda proud when my players abused their setup for the final fight though. Nennius sac'd his shield to steal Longinus' lance for the Enforcer before dying himself, and then Medb made him her champion later on - essentially jurryrigging a low tier Lancer servant to act as their frontline fighter for the final battle.

I suppose you're right about the bow. In theory, it's easy to imagine a Master who doesn't question the fact that their Servant is not always carrying their weapon/tools; but it's hard, in practice, to imagine one never asking why their Servant has yet to pull out a physical weapon.

I can't/don't want to use a variation of KoO, because Narita's just written Alkeides as possessing one in the new volume of Strange Fake. It's almost exactly as you described so far, bizarrely enough.

I suppose that I could always take the cheap route, and simply have him be able to summon Houyi's aid from the heavens for exactly 9 divine arrows per activation. It's kinda lazy, but he *does* know Houyi in some versions of the legend.
