Yeah, I was a bit surprised how strict P5's calendar was, compared to P4 where it was much more lenient. If you want to start Haru's S.Link on time, you need to bonus rolls while crafting multiple nights in a row, and that's a real pain.

I've just been following a guide on GameFAQs and I've got all stats to level 4 by September. I think there's good reason to believe it's not optimally efficient, but it's been good to me so far. My only complaint is that the guide doesn't work if you try to romance Takemi Tae, because her romance scenes only occur on nights which you have to spend grinding Proficiency.

Also fuck S.Links being tied to Mementos that shit is fucking dumb.

Did anybody notice they aren't getting the exp the game says you did?

For example my MC would need ~4000 EXP to lvl up. I fight 4-5 battles earning me approximately 1500 EXP each. After noticing that I haven't leveled up, I check my stats only to find that I still need another 1000.

I'm currently at 7/11 and it's becoming painfully obvious to me that I wont be able to max out all confidants and attributes in one playthrough. Something needs to give so I figured I'd skip some confidants (or not max them out)

I was thinking about the reporter/gunshop-man and the politician. Then again Both Iwai and Ichiko give stat points like charm or Proficiency.

What are some confidants I can safely skip to get more time? maybe unused team members?

What is a good team set up actually? I noticed that from Kaneshiro it's literally Joker and Makoto that are doing 90% of the work. I used Morgana for the boss fight but now Joker is a better healer so I can drop him. had Ann but she seems useless right now, maybe go with Yusuke or Ryujii instead?

Also am I being scammed yet again by Chihaya? people say how good her skills are but I don't see any boost to my stats with Luck reading. I went to her, got a boost to kindness and went to work at the shop but got only 2 points. How does that work? I think she is scamming me again.

I'd say it's a lower priority skill and is replaceable, but I kept it around as a multi-target skill that doesn't drain sp for her. Atomic flare and mafreidyne drains the pool too quickly. It's no big deal ditching flash bomb if you use her regular attack with Sabazios on, but for me it didn't feel completely worthless.

One protip, if you can get the fortune teller up to rank 7, it becomes much easier to max confidants. You can pay her to make a confidant ready to lvl up.

As for party, Ryuji and Ann become amazing in the endgame. Ann gets a super powerful fire spell and Ryuji gets a super powerful melee skill, and they both get charge/focus meaning you can drop insane amounts of damage with them.
Plus Ryuji gets attack up buff for the party.

I skipped Hifumi and Iwai but was able to max everyone and everything else. Perks wise, skipping Ohya and Iwai would be best tho as Hifumi gives the party switch ability for battle and a guaranteed escape ability but that ability is negated if you make a few smoke bombs.

Partywise, Ann becomes fucking nuclear later on, Ryuji is the best physical attacker, and morgana is the best healslut. Past that, Haru gets the extremely useful gun skills and heat riser. My final boss party was ann, haru, joker and morgana.

But I still felt 3's were better written.
It helped that 3's cast all had arcs that spanned the whole game, while most of P5's character arcs were within their recruitment dungeon's or in their SLs thus unrelated to the story at large.

I think Aigis is a stretch. She kind of shows up in the middle, disappears, and then is just different for the last month or so of the game.

Mitsuru is kinda similar. She doesn't really change at all until after her father dies, spends a month in grief, Yukari slaps her, and she's mostly done.

Don't get me wrong, I love P3, but most of the cast do not actually change slowly over the course of the year. They get their moments in the sun and then the story moves on, much like the later games.

I agree, I think what simply makes P3 distinct from 4/5 in terms of character progression is that we undeniably see it in the main story and not in the slink, not that that they develop slowly over the game.
