Paper = Casters

I think tendency would require a more overlining layer of morality to the game, which sounds like it'd require more NPCs to really work. Or at least more opportunities to help/hinder the world.

An example that comes to mind is something along the lines of saving or devouring the little sisters in bioshock. Make the player immediately and directly benefit from doing a ""bad"" thing, or have them not gain much in the short term for doing a ""good" thing. With the overlaying element being a shift in world tendency (as well as the rewards reaped from the event or accumulation of events)

Of course i'm boiling it down far too simply, but it gets the point across.

You can't really do much when 99.99% of the things in a level are mindless destroyers and the only change you really enact is killing the boss.
