But assuming the two leftmost cards are GEARs they may very well make or break the entire archetype.
Acquiring and abusing GEARs is like the one thing the initial batch of SPYRALs actually did well. If these are good, they might salvage themselves and end up able to do something at the very least.

Yuzu had character before synchro. Serena had character before getting head lice in her brain before fusion. The other two barely had personality outside of flashbacks.

Red-eyes was never great aside from REDMD being a staple in dragon decks back in the day.

Summoned Skull's issue was just powercreep and not keeping up with the times.

RE's issue is literally no direction in what it wants to do whether it be burn, fusion summoning, ritual summoning, xyz summoning and then you put on restrictions and geminis and the deck just implodes on itself.

Even with triple REDMD, the deck probably won't do much since it barely has any meaningful interaction with the card with its archetype support.

But to "fix".

+ New fusion cards, don't lock the deck out of summoning monsters for the turn

+ Better floaters

+ Some searchers, massive consistency boost is needed

+ some actual focus on an idea, not a bunch of dumb gimmicks


For Summoned Skull, he just needs an actual archetype for himself, just give him a basic skeleton and he'll be alright.

OK let's try something more recent, how about those times in 5Ds where yusei is fine tuning his duel Runner, or talk g with the rest of the crew? How about that time in the aftermath of the earthbound immortal crisis where jack was looking for a job? Or that time they were all in a party and Jack shows up "fashionably late" in a new trench coat that would give a peacock self esteem issues? It's things that happen outside of duels that help fill out a character. You can't fucking rely on duels 100% of the time to properly show how a character has grown. Hell, as soon as the duel was over between him and yuya and yuya thanks the king, he goes "I AM NO LONGER KING" This shows that he willfully and gracefully admits defeat. This shows good sportsman ship.
Character development needs to happen one way or another and that shit can't happen if the only time it's allowed to is in between turns of a children's card game, and all dialog between duels is just them talking about how they must duel the next guy.
This is literature 101.
