I have 4 volley guns with Franz, ergo all 3 of those stacks together have 8 hellstorm including sunmaker, hammer of the witches, 4 volleygun, 4 tanks. Hellstorm is OP vs infantry

Witchers prevent enemy hero shit with bodyguard and watcher, and are decent 1 on 1. I believe sigvald was killed by one without me even paying attention. 3 Witchers passively reduce enemy hero success by -45% in the same province if fully upgraded I think?

I did the spearmen trick to constantly destroy the ports, then out of nowhere argwylion colonized it all, even after I destroyed oak of ages and other elves. Also after I resurrected Kislev they had nothing better to do than to go raze the remaining varg

In my VC playthrough all 4 elves started colonizing norsca and completely captured it too

If they are going to do a Dark Elf v High Elf LP that is NOT Allarielle v Hellebron The Witch and the Bitch or if they do two(unlikely) then they should save the position of "Hates Dark Elves alot" for Altih Anar. Personally I think Eltharion or Imrik are going to be FLC, I doubt we will even see Alith. Though I'd love to see all 3, if I had to choose I'd definitely go with Eltharion with Imrik as a second because Caledor.

The only time I payed attention to that corner was when I played Skarsnik.
The dwarfs of Grung Zing just sat there the whole campaign, noone attacked them and they didnt attack anyone.

I've seen them ignore all the areas north and west of Karaz a Karak countless times.

Zhufbar and Black Mountains somehow seem to have a 'do not go here' tag, just like everything north of the The Vaults.
That is the only place I've seen the AI ever colonise.

The old friend is obviously referencing something either aforementioned in the TWW game or something explicitly mentioned in the lore as an "old friend." The only one who MAYBE fits that bill is Leitdorf being a friend of Karl and Krell being obviously missing from the game.

1. Spears are the cheapest Empire unit
2. They are way stronger than they should be in autoresolve combat
3. A hero with 15+ spears can go across norsca and autoresolve raid the villages, winning easily against max-level norscan gerisons, then the next turn you raze it after getting around 4-5k income

And if a full stack of varg or skraeling come to recolonise the ruins you can usually disembark and slaughter them as they are stuck after retaking the town and cannot retreat, and also are at half strength from the colonisation

It was an ambush, placed my grudgethrowers at the T, quarrlers where their archers would be, and then stretched my melee units on both sides where their orkz would be. Clapped them in melee, archers and grudgethrowers neutralized their range support, while GRODGEBEARER and the hammers fought their heros.

The army is getting some diversity now that I f have t3 ranged/siege plant in mt gunbad. Blood river confed has an armory, which is giving great weapons though I still need to modify their buildings some. Having t3 walls in the ones on the edge of the greenskinz which is limiting the provinces some.

Pistolers are the equites of the WRE in Attila. Utter trash that is squishy and will melt to the enemy archers. BUT, they are your only chargeable unit for 30-40 turns depending on how fast you get t3 stables in your stables area and a gunsmith in Eilhart. Outriders are vastly superior in every way, but pistolers work fine if supported by crossbowmen to take out their ranged units.

Use the pistolers to harass, and then charge units that are routing to end them. Problem is, honest steel is near mandatory since it covers such a wide range of units that you will be using the entire game. Tactician is also good, but is a gamble considering your anvil might crumble before they get to use that ammo.

I've seen a few traditional bow exhibitions at Japanese castles during my time there where they use that sort of technique, usually with one of those big Yumi bows. I do it often with Beastmen though. It's a fun strat - it ends up being a sort of hook & sinker
The Hook is the small detachment of low quality units - ideally spears and archers - who move up on a flank and start to harass the end of the enemy line
The Sinker sits back and reacts according to what the Hook draws in - e.g. sending anti-large over to assist if enemy cav charges in, sweeping into full engagement if it looks good
Greenskins, they have a pretty diverse roster, though a lot of the units seem to be quite dinky
I'm interesting in what other anons have to say about split army tactics.

Fluff-wise, as usual they can wreck some shit and some other times they "lose", meaning they can get ultimately stopped, and even then it results in a bloody stalemate that make the orks happy either way. The thing you have to get when looking at ork fluff is that, like nids, them being stopped in the end doesn't magically remove all the damage they've done before that.

The 6th edition appendix list has Ghouls as core units as well as limited numbers of Bat Swarms, 'Charnel Guard' (Ghouls with better stats) and Strigany.
Since that edition, Crypt Horrors, Varghulfs, Vargheists and the like have been added, which all fit nicely.

The only unit that would need some ingenuity is Strigany, but if you're talking about modding, I'm sure some of the Free Company parts would fit the bill.

Warhammer has things that aren't war. There are towns and villages, civilian politics, there's folklore and holidays and calendars.
Age of Sigmar doesn't. Or at least the existence of such is mentioned only in an off-hand way only to justify a specific epic battle. It's all paper-thin and will remain that way until they abandon their policy of keeping the details and geography of the world ephemeral and free-floating.

There's other problems too, but that's one of my main ones.

Another way I'd put it, from a different perspective, is that WHFB had interesting stuff at every level of significance, from the most basic "what's peasant life like" to "why this retard wants to end the world". AoS is "waow it's nothing but battles for the FATE of this PLANE of EXISTENCE, ALSO there are other PLANES OF EXISTENCE, additionally we are all dancing to the pleasure of the CHAOS GODZ"
Finally, all the official Age of Sigmar artpieces look like shit. Completely unremarkable cookie-cutter shit.

Their campaign is pretty damn badly designed. It's a horde faction, but the game is made in such a way that basically the whole world will be chasing you down from turn 1. Also, you're supposed to stay in Norsca for the first few turns awakening the tribes so they serve chaos, but that's basically like making an alliance, except your ally can only have one starting settlement, and hoping the dumb ai will repopulate what you raze afterwards (they never do) or at least don't fight between themselves (they will).

Then also >>174103587. The units they do have are actually cool as fuck and really good (not cost effective though, chaos warriors are expensive as all fuck) but their roster is pretty damn limited. They do have the best infantry in the game though.

I hate to say it but personally I would recommend getting it. (maybe not right away but after playing a bit and if you decide you like the game first.) It really does change the atmosphere of the game, adds in some effects and things like dismemberment.

It is a little over the top in how it paints your guys red though so if you're not happy that there is a mod on the workshop "Less Blood, Less Gore!" Just subscribe to that and it will tone it down to more Attila/Rome II levels of blood on models.

Overall though just get a feeling for the game first, if you like a faction get the DLC for it, if not it's fine, nothing is mandatory to get honestly, just if you want to play with the content yourself.

Chaos is comfy because you march around with your armored vikings and daemon cannons and chariots and raze everything to the ground. However a bunch of people have trouble with the horde mechanics, other people find the campaign easy but tedious (it is generally easy, but I enjoy burning shit down). Others still have other complaints the most important of which is that Chaos racial "mechanics" don't really exist- Awaken the tribes is just liberate faction from earlier games. CA clearly learned from this and made sure all their later DLC factions have unique and flavorful mechanics like "muh moon" "muh tree" "muh peasants" but they haven't bothered to fix Chaos. Some people say they'll be fixed when TWW3 comes out, which is basically saying "don't worry dude, everything will finally work as it was originally intended to in 2019!". Cool stuff, a two year wait for the faction to be finally fixed.

Defending is fun and you usually get a decent advantage due to being able to entrench your dudes between buildings.

In my Gelt campaign I got attacked by fuckhuge orc stacks twice and managed to pull pretty tricky defences out of my arse due to the maps.

Attacking is pretty hit & miss though. Most of the time the AI just spreads out in a line like its a field battle and its a bit shit.

My problem with chaos is that their campaign sucks dick. You have to survive for the first 30-40 turns, then your hordes are fully upgraded and you will just win the campaign. Every battle will be a siege because no one wants to fight you in the open and they will just hide in their tier 4 settlements. Then you have to fight them, wait for your cannons to kill 50% of their army and break some walls, win the fight, loot the settlement and wait one more turn to play the same fucking battle again (if you autoresolve you will lose too many units and it takes forever to replenish them if you aren't in norsca), win the battle again and raze the settlement before moving on to the next one.

The roster is alright, it's definitely fun and strong in campaign because you can have as many super elite units as you want and upkeep costs aren't an issue.

Chaos has a lot of problems, overall their campaign is just pretty bland, you build up until you're strong enough and then just steam roll the map. Plus they're missing a lot from their roster, none of their advanced units, a lot of lord characters, no different gods or daemons. Apparently the 3rd expansion is going to address this but in the mean time they're just kind of 'eh' More fun to fight against than play.

The tl:dr of it all is a lot of the starting content isn't as well thought out or experimental there as latter additions [DLC's like King and the Warlord/Wood Elves/Bretonnia got a lot of love and effort put into them that makes them all quite different to play.]


Also if you want a fun horde faction the Beastmen are the way to go. Minotaurs are just a joy to use.

I went to relieve a siege on my dwarf ally's karak from rebel orcs. The orcs flee out of my movement range, then siege again on their turn. I can never fucking kill them all and because they're rebels they reinforce into a 20 stack instantly every time.

If you can bring two stacks, you might be better off with microing night gobbos with fanatics plus skulkers and a smoke bomb.
This will leave the enemy poisoned, blinded, with an AP unit quite literally stabbing them in the back.

I guess the problem with Strigoi armies is that the Strigoi are solitary and nomadic - that's part of the reason they devolved into the creatures they are. They roam the wilderness and sometimes they are sheltered by bands of equally nomadic Strigany. They're not great nation builders or even warlords.

That said, the Badlands could certainly do with another faction in there to liven things up a bit (heh). At least until Tomb Kings arrive.

How does the AI cope with it?
I've got to say, the vanilla maps are generally pretty awful from a gameplay perspective. There are never enough features to use tactically. I don't want maps that are 90% swamp, I want maps with some swamp and some useable areas of dry land so I can use the terrain to my advantage.
I guess the problem is that the AI can't do that, so if you have good maps the problems with the AI are really obvious.

The biggest issue I had with shogun 2 multiplayer campaigns is that zooming in tended to lead to crashes randomly.

Warhammer generally works fine until mid-late game when the amount of armies can lead to desync errors. In addition, for whatever fucking reason, playing coop with someone as Bretonnia has always lead to an insurmountable desync. Lastly, there is an issue that I can only assume is related to garrisons, and it will cause a desync/crash for one player when a settlement is selected. The forced selection when your ally attacks a city can also be a source of this, so when it happens they might just need to force the attack so you can continue playing the game.

tl;dr Warhams generally works pretty well until it doesn't, which is semi-rare but fucking annoying when it does. Still worth it imo because coop campaigns are a ton of fun despite the generic victory conditions.

I've yet to play on the maps that are on important objectives like faction capitals.. In my example the AI spawned in the very middle and kind of poured out like ants without regard to possible AOE damage, etc.

Have yet to witness the AI glitch out/become unable to navigate the terrain, though.

Well the map is bigger now, the entire Ulthuan is there now, some factions have less settlements or have different onces, for example in Norsca there are a few Chaos undivided settlements and the rest are rebel (or minor factions as they call them, supposedly because they actually act more like a faction, I haven't seen it yet so I can't say anything) settlements, the settlements of the other chaos faction settlements are on the chaos wastes.

Dogs of war also lost some settlements, like marienburg.

Was the game patched to make getting a Wauuggh way fucking harder? Every damn time I win a battle, the penalty from casualties zeroes out the bonus from winning, even if I barely lost any. Raiding only nets +2 a turn and sieging +1. Losing a single battle can easily knock me down 30-40 points. I've only gotten two waughhs in 100 turns and its pretty gay.

Playing Skarsnick. In my Grimgor game it was extremely easy to get waughs.

Occasionally, yeah. Big reason it goes faster is because after a point - half your army dying or so - the rest will take leadership penalties that will case them to more or less automatically rout. It's very rare if you can get a unit to last after the rest have died.

Whereas in older games, there was always a chance that you could keep a small amount of your army together and continue fighting on, let alone that you could steal a victory with less than half your troops remaining, or at least fight to the death for a settlement.

So I'm not sure if this is actually legit because it was a fairly small army, but it seems like if you take direct control of arty the enemy will never attack your cannon.

The battle before this one all his units charged straight for my cannon, but this battle I was just controlling it the whole time, and all his dudes charge right next to my cannon into ironbreakers instead and I could just shoot right down their flank.

Crynsos' Unlocker allows you to use other startpos. mods (Like Regiments of Renown!), and has a lot of cool extra features. Those features are also optional, so if you want to just have an unlocker it's fine.

Also Grimgor killed Greasus Goldtooth and every named Ogre character too, killed every chaos and skaven agent in Cathay making the chaos gods have literally no presence in the east, destoyed the chaos dwarves and Hashut by freeing all the slaves, and killed some major demons during the final fight. Then broke the Eye of Sheerian.

I don't know what this guy's beef with Grimgor is, but he certainly doesn't know jack if he thinks Grimgor hasn't killed anything more than skaven mooks.
