I don't know where else I can ask this, but I'll try to be as descriptive as possible- sorry for the wall of text in advance. First and foremost, I've got the game (pre-install in the OP) running just fine- it's just the text I'm having problems with. It would SEEM like this is an easy problem to fix, since PART of it's mentioned in the FAQ- but that's where things start getting both weird and complicated.
So I have the Win10 FPS fix installed (the version in OP which includes the sub mod- I DIDN'T do it with AA2Install), along with the included translation pack- all UI elements are perfectly fine. But if I launch the game with the Translation Loader using Locale Emulator, the first part of the pic is what shows up when I press Load Game (been using the save that came with the game for testing). I know it's supposed to be some Japanese symbols, and the same thing happens to character names. If I talk to anyone, the usual u's and v's show up. Before you say it, the problem isn't over yet- not by a LONGSHOT- and I DID look through the FAQ image but found NOTHING to do with currency or time and date.
So let's close the game and try something else. I also have SBAppLocale, so I set up a .bat to run it and the included Frontier Pack loader. Again, the game runs perfectly fine, but this is when the shit gets ridiculous. If you look on the second half of the pic, the scrambled Japanese... is instead replaced by boxes. However, the NAMES (SPECIFICALLY the names) display correctly, and the text has proper brackets... ?
I honestly have no idea what's going on. All I have installed are the included translation pack, the Win10 FPS fix, and Locale Emulator and SBAppLocale. That's it. All I know is that any english names and club names DO display correctly, and I couldn't care less about what's in Japanese- it's everything else that's got me thrown in a loop.
Did I seriously fuck this up in a few days?

The entire problem is in your locale setup. Your pc's region/locale settings are not mingling properly with your locale emulator of choice.

Well color me surprised. It works! It'll take a bit to get used to the ENG in my taskbar, but whatever- the game runs fine, the brackets are still there, and all of the Japanese displays correctly.only with SBApp tho but whateverholy shit why was this so simple

AA2's ability to set any eye texture is what made this game so versatile desu so definitely go for it. Obviously improve upon it, like being able to use transparent textures and setting different textures and highlights for each eye. Also feel free to shill with some illustrations so we know it's a real thing

Had trouble deciding betweenManly and Irritablewith most of my time just editing the hair, but I'm finished!... For now. Anyway, here's the card in all of its... "glory". Heterochromia should be easy enough with the colours. Transparency should also be fine. I've made a footnote about the ability to have two different textures now, thanks.

your rule of thumb should be: if it's there it should be customizable. Give as much control over the assets as possible even if you think the result might look weird or ugly. You can't avoid some people making ugly girls unless you're making the sameface academy and even then someone would always find a way.
Concerning the eye textures specifically: you have 2 choices: either make them utilise some common assets like it's done with AA2 or bake them into the character but allow picking up a random .png from a random place. If you go with the former I suggest doing something similar for all other assets as well.
You really have to nail the aesthetics for it to be playable. Also consider using Unity or smth for your engine instead of making your own because of a lot of shit you don't have to implement and therefore leaving more time to polish the aesthetics and gameplay.

check out AAFace and AAU if you haven't already. AAFace in particular makes it super easy to dress your card faces by setting dress state to 1 and saving the card. You still have to assign the outfit with ReiEdit though

So, i tried pitching this idea before the poser is a thing, was told it was not viable. But now the poser is a thing and this might be viable, so here i go again.
Basically, Cloth states for poser.
IWhen using AAFace, you get a new Clothes tab in the main menu, here you can change clothing of the character and edit the clothing state of the character. You can also override the clothing states, usually both the Shirt and Skirt state are linked, with AAFace you can unlink those, creating some interesting results.
While the Shirt state dictates how dressed the character appears, the Skirt state decides if the character has a skirt or not, and if the top has an invisibra enabled or not.
Basically, with this you can remove the invisibra from most clothing types. (or enable it if you so wish)
With the invisibra removed, the clothing follows the breasts shape, instead of looking somewhat flat and rigid.
The differing States have the following results.
Shirt
State 0 Naked
State 1 full cloth
State 2 half taken off cloth
State 3 underwear
State 4 half taken off underwear
Skirt
State 0 Invisibra off with no skirt
State 1 Invisibra on with Skirt
State 2 Invisibra off with Skirt
State 3 Invisibra with no skirt
This would be great to have with the poser, Giving you a little more control over the character.
As i have no idea how easy or hard this would be to implement and i have no coding experience, il just leave this idea here.

Question to the anon who has done all of the rooms. I'm trying to add external walls to this room, and blinds to the outside.
Exporting and editing it in 3ds max all goes fine. Then after I export to fbx, and import the edited mesh to SB3, it throws up some material invalid errors that I then fix in SB3 by assigning the materials to the mesh as they were before.
But then when I pack it up and put it ingame, it turns out like this.
It also suddenly takes forever to load the room and making the character models visible/invisible makes the game hang for several seconds before anything happens.
What am I doing wrong, how do I fix it?

playing around with AA2 unlimited, I can mess with limb rotations during H-mode, but I can't seem to change the expressions permanently, the engine always set them back to the set values.

Expressions change during sex with each dialogue line that plays. I don't think you can force the expression to stay constant once they start moving, and most people only do static poses anyway.

If you're trying to do an actual pose, I recommend using either sex intro or a dialogue/clothes changing room. You can edit sex poses for a sort of animated pose, but it's not useful for making stills because the constantly changing animations are annoying.

She can, but it won't move. It'll be an intro pose or an interruption pose.
Also, you should try and base poses off of pose 0 (which you have to set on character 0). This allows the poses to be used anywhere, in conversation or in pre-sex.

I have a question about the Overwatch pack. It says comes with extra slots (182-183) but when I convert it to a pp the slots end where the HEXA hair pack ends. Do I need AA unlimited to put these in or can I somehow overwrite another xx that I won't ever use?

They're obsolete, which is why they don't fit. No one ever used them so they weren't put into HEXAOC when it updated. The xx files will work for overrides, but if you want them in normal hair slots you'd have to reslot them.
