Buttons are a far more precise input device for digital inputs because of less travel time and the ability to press any combination at once. It might be less comfortable but for fighting games the hitbox/keyboard is the OBJECTIVELY best device.

Problem is that most people find it uncomfortable and unintuitive so they use either pad or stick.

Resets are only prevalent because of how long the combos are, it's very hard to tell when one's coming and often times simply delaying a combo will get you an ambiguous reset which easily converts into another full combo.

Also I don't know know enough to have an opinion myself, but even though I've seen some people claim solos are viable, basically no one plays them which makes me a bit skeptical. But again, even if they were, playing a solo in a team game is still not the same.

That's maybe the lesser of the two problems for me though, my biggest dislike about the game is the combo system/resets and issues that are all tied to this.

First I don't like how the game is 6 buttons and secondarily how that works in the combo system. IPS may sound like a cool system at first, but then you realize that the combo system becomes all an exercise in tricking the IPS with shit like starting your next chain with LP insteal of LK and shit like that.

Finally the most retarded choice of it all for me is how basically everything restands. Together with undizzy it forces resets down your throat and makes them so easy to find compared to ther games and I really don't like that.

Solos are strong viable (the gay furry won a tournament as a solo) but obviously more character dependant. They also aren't as finely balanced as duos and trios. MikeZ said that's by design, he doesn't want solos to be too viable because the game is about teams first and foremost.
