The Dark Soul was one of the unique Lord Souls, instead of being claimed by a god it was claimed by the Furtive Pygmy. After the war with the dragons while many humans sided with the gods a small group made alliance with the pygmy. This group was disliked by gywn and so he gifted them city at the end of the world of the and this is where the true Dark Soul remained. It can be argued that the dark soul is the most powerful soul that was born from the first flame. Unlike the other lord souls the dark soul had the ability to be separated while not losing any of its power. If you look to gywns soul you see that his soul lost power every time he shared it with a group like seath or the four kings. The dark soul being a lord soul could also its bearer with the strength it represented and its case Dark.

Humanity are spirits that are some offshoot of the dark soul that are fueled by emotion while the Dark Soul itself is an actual flame, implying that the sprites are more creations than exact copies.

Soul Stream does alright damage but has a long wind up. It's real use is for in tight spaces or to knock people off ledges.
You don't need SS it's just a worse CSS in PvP and in PvE GHSA is more efficient.

You're using it wrong. You're meant to use it for area denial and to combo into other pyromancies or simply while rushing them down with your weapon. If you time it right and get a 2 hit R1-R1 combo, they'll also get stunlocked by the Floating Chaos and take a fuckton more damage.
